This is the Knuck Central Post Game Show. To the right circle from Miller has to contend with a rolling puck. Lozon pushes him to the boards. He centers for Besser off the end. Wards to sooner near post, and Sorrows across to his right made another great save. Bolton scissors, gave it away to Patterson. Into the slot, Souter couldn't settle the pocket, rolls to the left corner. Patterson steps out of the way of a head attempt from Lozon and got him behind the neck for Besser. Hey, front Souter, he scores! Here's Souter! Beats you, she's Sorrows! Sticks side with 139 left in the third period. The Canucks finally get the goal they needed. And Puse Souter finally finds the back of the net. His second of the series is a huge goal for Vancouver. They lead one to nothing, and they're 99 seconds away. From a second round matchup with the Edmonton Oilers. With instant reaction from the players and coaches. O'Reilly with it, pushed to the boards by Myers, 15 seconds left. Taylor gets it for you, can't clear. Yossi, left circle, Forsberg. Into the slot, throw to the goal. Stop by Shiloff. Shiloff, for sure, since it's held an up-night, but shoots! What a save! Four Canucks falling across, it stays out of the net. Now Yossi, high swatch, two seconds left. He misses the goal. And the Canucks have won the series. Archer, she loves. Picks up his first career. National Hockey League, shut out. His first shut out in the playoffs. He stops all 27. Predators shots, and you can get in the handshake line. Pitches a shutout in the postseason. An elimination game. This kid steps up and pitches a shutout. And it looked like nobody was going to score. And then the final few minutes. Pew Souter, who's had what? 85 incredible chances. Has one goal in the series. Somehow gets a series winning goal. And let's give a big shout out, guys, to Tyler Myers, who absolutely lays out. Blocks a master shot to keep preserve the one-nothing win for the Vancouver Canucks. Huge, huge, right? It's just throw bodies to the cause there at the end. And four guys, all diving to the post. They're on top of she loves. He's trying to get these, like, there's so four seconds to go. And he's still trying to get through his spot. And hey, he's surviving in advance. That's it, right? Surviving in advance. And the Canucks are off to round two, Brett. Yeah, it wasn't pretty. And anyway, it was like a common theme here. Like, lock it up, grind it out. Tired bodies all the way to the end. And then just figure away. Figure a way to bring it home. It's exciting. I can't believe they actually did that in the last two minutes again. Yeah, no, absolutely. And the way they pulled that off was unbelievable in Nashville. Well, they didn't win a single game on home ice. And you know what? This is exact copy. Not exactly how the games played out of 2011. The Canucks and Preds split the first two games. Canucks won. Games three and four in Nashville. The lost game five on home ice. Then finish it off in game six. Same thing happened here 13 years later in 2024 in Nashville. Let's bring in Randy Jada into the conversation. And Randy, I mean, it looked like this game was destined for overtime. But what was destined was for the Preds not to beat Arthur Schilloff tonight. It's amazing, guys. And the poise that this kid has in that game where, you know, I've written it down. I'm sure you guys have on your notes too early on in this game. A couple of shots right off the bat on Baville, Forzburg kind of set the tone. But throughout this game, whenever the Canucks needed that save, he was there. There was another chance on, you know, Jason Zooker in the second period where he seals the post perfectly late in this game. And just ready to go. And he mentioned it prior to his first start. He said, I'm ready to shine. He did exactly that as he ends up making what 27 saves in that shutout. That's, I was kind of like, I'm not going to lie. I thought, you know, I thought you have to go for the veteran. If you get an opportunity, you know, it's too much too soon for this kid. I'm proven wrong on this because Arthur Schilloff's has shown that he can make those key saves. And there were some premium looks for the national predators in this game. He stood tall and he made a difference tonight. Going head to head with UC Sorrows, who was unbelievable on the other side as well. It's unbelievable too, Brett. Like how much confidence that probably gives the guys in front of him. Not just what he did tonight, but what he's been doing through the series. And then to show up in a big way tonight and just, just as a player, like imagine you're looking back like, hey, man, this guy's got the goods. Yeah, I think that shows you exactly why they made that decision. We, we, we've talked about how Kami looked and the poise and the maturity he showed. But then for the team to get past those, the initial, hey, Demko's out kind of, you know, moment. To have him play the way he's played and then come through with a shadow in this game. It gives you so much more confidence going in to face Edmonton. It's just, you know that you can compete and he's going to stand on his head in the back there. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. And just an incredible play by him, but let's break down the goal. The Vancouver Canucks finally scored in the third period, guys. And I mean, Pew Souter tonight had loads of opportunities. And he's had loads of opportunities throughout this series. Had a golden chance, two golden chances in the second period. Had a few other chances throughout the series. And it looked like he was not going to score again. And then he gets it and some good work by that line behind the net two. And Lee is peterson does some good work on that game winning goal. Yeah, it's not akin to burrows in game seven versus Chicago. But remember, like that game, he had so many opportunities in that game. And Souter just kept popping up in these good spots. And we were talking in the break in the second admission. Well, he's always in the right spot. You kind of just have to stick with them and maybe the chance finally comes to him. And quite a tool. And throughout the course of this series, he's been so good ran deep. And he's just in the spots. And finally, this one goes in. For sure. Five shots on goal in this game. And I want to say four of those shots for premium chances. Yeah. You're looking at sorrows moving from left to right. Just pushing off that left leg. And the reaction time was unbelievable on sorrows. But what I liked about not only Souter sticking with it. You could see he was angry during the game when he didn't finish on those first two chances. But he kept at it, got it into the right spots as you mentioned. But guys, two of those opportunities at least, Brock Besser doing fantastic work behind the net. There was another opportunity where Souter gets a look on the left hand side from sorrows. And Besser gets a stick in the way, creates a little, wins a battle. And the puck pops out to Souter. He can't finish there. But on that goal, just does a great job. He's got Kerry draped all over him. Makes that sweet backhand pass. So Souter was finding the right opportunities. But I loved what his line mates were doing as well. It's like, don't worry. We're going to get you the puck. You find that soft area. And in the end, Brock Besser with a heck of a pass. And you got to do the job as a player, as pew Souter to put the puck in the net. But I thought his line mates in terms of finding him and making sure that they were doing the dirty work below the hash marks. They did a heck of a job too. Yeah, and Petey ends up there because Miller actually has an extended shift. So he ends up on the bench. So you get this odd combo. But Petey does some good work on there as well. So he's working with Souter. Petey actually jumps around. Lows on, I believe, that's going for the big hit. Smart. And he just gets it down. Smart play to get it behind the net. We've talked about how they've had success working it behind the net. Down low. Right? Down low. And it's just a way to kind of get in behind those fronting pucks. And then go to the net. And yeah, you're right. Souter just finds that spot. He's found that spot. I think he was as frustrated as anybody with not being able to bury those. I had three. Two glorious rebounds. One off the back wall. And then finish it. So I feel great for him. But yeah, great work all around. Working it down low. Petey jumps in there in Besser. Yeah. Another great game. He's brought it this series. For me too, those down low plays you see constantly, even in the Lindholm OT winner, right? Foresborough kind of cheats up the wall. You see in this play when that puck goes to the corner, obviously, Lowson's engaged along the wall and Patterson kind of locks him off. But you'll see when the puck goes in the corner, Bovillier gets kind of high. And he thinks the puck's going to go up the wall. And suddenly Patterson wins the battle. It goes low. And it's Souter to the slot. Ahead of Bovillier. Ahead of Lowson. Neither guy can get their investor. Makes an incredible play to just put it into a spot. And Souter finally converts one. Yeah. And great stuff by Pew Souter getting one pass there. And deep, you know, thoughts on this series. I mean, this was really one of those series where none of us had a really good sensible that was going to happen game to game. And it felt like this game, the first period, you would say the edge was probably in Nashville's side, the second pretty even, the third. I thought the Canucks were the better team in the third period. Yeah. The Canucks matched the desperation of Nashville in that third period. They wanted to win this in six. They didn't want to come back to Vancouver. And even though they're capable of doing that, you don't want to test that. I thought the third period was so strong from this team. They came out, of course, there's some dicey moments. There's always going to be that. But, you know, out shooting Nashville 12 to 9 in that period, they made a late push even in the second period. We've talked a lot about offense guys. We've talked a lot about archer she loves. But I think a couple of players defensively that we got to focus on as well as Tyler Myers had a game. Yeah. Late, you know, making that block, but also breaking the cycle early on in the period. There's a few guys that helped launch those offensive attacks by breaking the cycle. And I thought Susie and Myers did that really, really well tonight. Let's go. Guys, let's go outside the Canucks locker room where we are joined by Quinn Hughes. Quinn, thanks for joining us. A breathtaking performance tonight won nothing victory to seal this series in six games. I mean, it was intense for us watching it here on TV. How intense was that final minute of that game? Yeah, very stressful, especially when they called that penalty. But I think we didn't crack the entire 60 and we played really good team hockey and we kept our system. And, you know, we capitalized on the chance we had. What does this feel like in the moment here? You guys are moving on to round two. One of the first things that you thought of as you come off the ice. I think it just means a lot. And it's you realize how hard it is to win and how hard it is to get here in the year we've had. And the last two weeks, the ups and downs. But, you know, grateful, especially with how the last couple years have ended. But we have another couple of games here to look forward to. And we'll try and enjoy it and bring our best hockey. Well, and one of the things too. I mean, you guys did play in the bubble playoffs a few years ago, but obviously completely different animal here with the intensity of the crowds, the traveling and all that sort of stuff going on. How important was it to kind of gain that experience in the first round in a victory to win in the first round and gain that experience at the same time? Yeah, like you said, I don't think we really, including myself, had the experience that we gained in the last two weeks. And I think it's can't put a price tag on it. And I think that will continue to grow and get better and learn from it. And hopefully we can play better in the next series. All the games were so close, Quinn, right? Like everything was so tight through the course of these six games. Is there a specific thing that you talk about of learning through these six games that you want to take into round two? Yeah, like I just said, I think we learned quite a bit actually. And just, you know, how tight it is to speed what to expect and, you know, how to get through tough moments in a game and then take advantage of the moments we do have. And as far as, you know, celebrating this victory, I know it's one series you guys are looking ahead, but at the same time, there has to be some joy to take this in and really take this in with the boys here. Yeah, I mean, it's like I said, it's really special and we haven't been in this position in a long time. And so we'll enjoy it tonight because we definitely deserve it. And then tomorrow we'll look forward to what we need to do. So does everyone have to buy a that's that she loves shirt now, that JT was sporting on the ice after that shout out? Definitely not, definitely not. But, you know, he can't say enough about what he did tonight. He played amazing and yeah, he certainly showed up. Hey, Quinn, listen, thanks for your time, man. Enjoy this one and celebrate. And we look forward to seeing guys in game one against the Oilers back in Vancouver. Sounds good, guys. Thank you. That is Canucks defenseman and captain Quinn Hughes. And Randy, before we let you go here too, you heard Quinn talk about it. And it's still a lot of business, still a lot of work to get done. They're still saying all the right things even when they win a playoff series. Of course. And, you know, Quinn Hughes is the guy that's going to push these guys up the mountain. Of course, he's going to say that. But you could see the jubilation on their faces as the final buzzer, you know, blue. And that was something that there's a having that success as a team. Everything that you've been grinding for the 82 game is this series. You have a round in your belt. You've shown that you can do this. The proof of concept is there. They've used three goalies, guys. So there's got to be an internally a hey, we did this, even though, you know, it didn't look like we we had a, you know, the best odds at certain points. Normal teams might crumble after the first guy goes. These guys had two other goal tenders ready to go. And then on top of that, I think there's got to be an element of. You won one for the young kids who he won one for you that smile that archer shield I've had during the handshake line. That was just a cool moment where you're saying, okay, this kid's ready for the moment. You've built so much over the last year, whether it's she loves, whether it's, you know, JT, whether it's Quinn, whether it's Rick talk and trying to get these guys up to speed on his system the way to play. It's only one round, but it does signify something that signifies that what you've been working on, what you've been preaching, you know, everything that you've been doing for the last year, essentially, year and a half. It started to work now. And remember, Jim Rutherford said, if everything goes well and everything works out perfectly into place, we'll make the playoffs. Well, this team has shown that, all right, you know what, we can do more than that. And I love having, you know, to see that. And from this squad to say the captain, hey, I'm sure behind the, behind the microphones and behind the closed doors, they're going to might have a couple wobbly pops tonight. But boys, this is kind of a situation where, you know, it's such a cool moment for this team, but they probably feel like they've achieved something considering where they were last year, right? Absolutely. I mean, it's a year first in so many ways, right? Like a first real playoffs, us covering it as a station, you calling these games, and also now a first real playoff series victory for the Vancouver Canucks. And a great stuff calling the game, calling the series Randeep. And we look forward to chatting with you ahead of game one. Whenever, whenever that may be, I'm hoping it's not Sunday. I'm hoping it's next week, but we'll find out pretty soon. And it is somewhat dependent, perhaps, on what happens with Dallas and Vegas. But we await the game time for day for game one between the Canucks and Oilers. And we'll talk a lot about that in the coming days. Yeah, I have no idea when it is, but I'm looking forward to it, guys. And enjoy responsibly Vancouver, Surrey, Abbotsford, Scott Rhodes, South Fraser Way, wherever you are. Enjoy it because Canucks fans, you deserve it after quite a long time of not having this sort of success. Yeah, incredible. Thanks, Randeep. That is Randeep Jana called the game along Brendan Bachelorette, a thrilling one-nothing Canucks victory over the Nashville Predators on the road, sealed this series in six games, four or two for the Canucks. And honestly, guys, because one of those games where I wasn't sure there was going to be a goal in regulation. You get to the final few minutes, and, Bick, you turn to us and said, has anything happened in the last, like, ten minutes there? Like, so the first ten minutes of the period, it was, you know, Canucks were pressuring, had some chances. Dude, I had a couple chances. A couple going the other way for Nashville, as soon as. Who else? But then, it kind of became a grudge match, not much happening, almost like both teams, guys, are kind of saying, "Hey, let's just get this to overtime." The moment that stands out for me is the four on two with a blue girl, right? Like, Lafferty drops it off, drives to the net, and you think, "Okay, is this the moment?" And it just, like, it freezes a little bit. In this moment, that kind of was the picture of the game. Like, guys, nothing were afraid to take chances, but safety was the chief concern here all of a sudden. You think, "Okay, this one's maybe going to bleed into OT," and just a moment arrives, 90 seconds to go. Yeah, and this defensive stalwart kind of, nothing happening. You get four on two, and our energy jumps up, you get out of the seat, and you think there's just going to be some sort of opportunity, and it just grinds to a halt like the game kind of had, and. Bessar has the two on one chance. Yeah, even Makayev, like, there was PDG, and Makayev both had opportunities down the wall where the head guy's going on the net, and it ends up going right in the bread basket, and it just shuts down. It's just like, there wasn't any extra on top to put it over the edge, and it's just, you're just kind of waiting for it, and then great shift, and obviously, suitor gets another opportunity. Yeah, and I mean, you talk about the Canucks actually getting some shots on goal tonight. They certainly did, right? Like, this is one of those games where they got 29 shots on goal, right? And they had 60 shot attempts in all situations, so it was overall a lot better in terms of getting volume on the net here in the game, and it paid off in the very end. They win this one, won nothing. All right, keep your thoughts coming into our text in the box, 650, 650. Marks and Gibson says, Canucks never panicked, stuck to their system, took six games, but they got the job done, and I guess that would be a feather in the coach's cap. Didn't change what they were trying to do, kept the lines together, and eventually, they felt they broke through here tonight. Yeah, in a big way, right? Game one, that to me was a story, right? How the defense played, the 60 men in particular, but it was stifling, and they get their comeback with 12 seconds, two goals there. And then just the moments that, even when it was stressed for Vancouver, like, the defenders were there, and the overall team defense was there. And even in game three and four, when the shot volume was overwhelming, we didn't really sit here and say, "Oh, like, Nashville should have that one." How many great saves do we talk about a goalie taking one off? It was overall team defense. Yeah, it was the game plan we talked about in September. It was still the game plan now, and they really did a good job of just protecting the middle, and we were joking before the game, there hasn't been a lot of changes, besides guys getting sick and some injuries, right? Both coaches kind of felt comfortable in their defensive systems, and just believed that it was going to come through in the end. And Canucks did it. They really stuck with it and didn't waver that much at all. No, it didn't at all, and a huge, huge victory for the Vancouver Canucks. They had a handsome, handsome Zoro, and Suri says, "Peterson ties Chris Manko for playoff goals this year." But hey, I mean, listen, he got an assist on the game winning goals, so it's like, I see a lot of criticism still. The Canucks won. They just won. They won in the first round. I see people texting, "Well, they're not going to be as easy against Edmonton." Enjoy the victory. I'm not going to tell you how to fan, but boys, the Canucks just won their first playoff series since 2011 with fans in the building. Since 2011, 2011, it's 13 years ago. Park the negative thoughts until tomorrow. The dread and the existential crises that happen or whatever. Park it, please. They just won a series. Enjoy the series. And hey, if you want to talk about "Peterson," he doesn't make the play on the game winning goal. Who knows what happens in this game? We're talking about OT. And this text here says, "Very cool experience that Roger was reading. A massive crowd. I mean, sold out building for a watch party. The buzz apparently was fantastic there as well. So a lot of great stuff for the fan base in general, too, and a big, big performance with the Vancouver Canucks. Let's take a phone call here. Let's go to Sweden, where we have Bork on the line, waiting up late, watching his Canucks win in game six to move on around to. What you got for us tonight, Bork? Well, first, my heart is still pumping. That was baloney. Second of all, still logged. I don't know if he's seeing anyone, but he's not allowed a single cent now at the Roxy and number five orange. You guys got the sponsors to chip out the money chump. Third of all, the guy who is being negative kick rocks. That was one of the best games ever. One of the best games ever. I screened my lungs out. The neighbor still hasn't woken up yet, so we're doing great out here. But holy crap, I'm ready to watch us play the coilers. Hey, I love it. Hey, Bork, thanks for the phone call. I appreciate the thoughts from Sweden. So we got him in early. So for those wondering, we mentioned game one. So it was mentioned on SportsNet that game one between the Canucks and the Oilers is going to be Tuesday night. There you go. So we'll get no confirmation yet, but according to the SportsNet, as soon as the game ended, they mentioned that that's going to be happening. Pearl Jam plays, well, tonight, and they're playing on Sunday. So they're going to have to squeeze that game. Pearl Jam plays tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow. So they're playing. The watch party was going on tonight. Oh, right. Right. Tomorrow. And whatever. I'm confused. Whatever Monday. Saturday and Monday. Saturday and Monday is Pearl Jam's playing. But we'll see it for confirmation, but that's what we have for now. What are the people saying in the text inbox, Bic? 6.50. 6.50. Give me a second here as I'll just bring this up here. Holy, I don't think I took a breath for the last two minutes on to the Oilers. That's Ken in North Van. Jesse in Camus. I know it's an off season discussion, but at least the backup goalie spot is sorted. And PC Patty wants to give Nashville credit, incredibly frustrating to play against so many emotions. What a season. Take it in, everyone. We're going to the second round. It's PC Patty. Look, we're going to get into some big picture discussions, obviously, through the course of the evening. But one thing, guys, it's like we talked about, okay, would it be a disappointment if they don't advance? Well, that is put to ban all of a sudden right now. Now the season is like, okay, now you're playing with house money. Oh, yeah. Hey, I'm not saying this season. Hey, mission accomplished. Of course. You're happy. You plant your flag and you walk off and everything is fine. But you've accomplished like you want to division this year. You want to play off round. This season is not a failure in any way, shape or form. You can maybe talk yourself into saying, well, it's a failure because you lost in the first round after winning the division, trading for your lives, Lindholm. And of course, you want to see them do more than winning around. But it's like Vic mentioned, like this season has already become a victory in the playoffs when you've won a round already. And the first time you want to play off round with fans in a building in 13 years. 13 years. Let's go back one year. Yeah. Yeah. From when I started, this isn't the turnarounds insane to me. From where, and then you think about the 13 years is nuts. So I'm excited for them. It's just like, what else, I think it's an amazing turn around, obviously you still want to do more. You want to win another round here and they're going to get back to business. But pretty incredible that they've done this. It's really staggering when we think about May, June last year. When things like structure were being marketed and think, oh, really? Like, that's where you're at. And look, we took our shots and we poked fun. It's like professional hockey was going to figure out structure. And all these little details, right? It's just like chip, chip, chip, chip away and figure them out. And the difference from last January, 2023 to what we're seeing now. It wasn't the most perfect hockey in the series, but what's the one thing they did? They played incredible defense. And that's not something that this team had 14, 16 months ago. So that turn around that you're talking about of not broken hockey, but ineffective hockey to the stage where you can play in this style of series and overcome and live in that reality for 58 and a half minutes and still say, hey, we're still in this game. We're still in this game. And even after the first intermission break during the break, you kind of said, as much as we were like all these shots blocked over again, you walked out and you're like, hey, tie a game on a road game, right? And it's still, it's like that mentality of like, hey, we're still in this. Yeah, like we, it was 10 minutes left, right? Yeah. 10 minutes to win a series, you'd take that as ugly as it was the whole way and as much as they had to stick in it. It's like you got yourself to a position where you have 10 minutes and you win 10 minutes. You win a series. So I mean, mission accomplished. Yeah. You know, not everyone's going to be tick, tack, toe, backdoor, celebrate, set up and win. They don't care. Nothing matters. Winning a series is the only thing I'm at. It's how you win the series, right? And yeah, there are things that Canucks can clean up and do better and you hope they would ahead of their next opponent. A lot of reaction on the text inbox, 6.56.50. This one here says, man, the next round is going to be so fun. Team gets a quick reset. They know they can beat Edmonton. I can't wait. That's Chris from the Nymal excited about it. This one says, what a great game, boys. Garland was our best player. I thought almost had a jammer. We deserved to win that one 100%. And that's a word you've been using too, Brett. I mean, the amount of intensity in those moments, I mean, the hearts racing. And you can imagine if you're really invested in the stakes as a player, right? As a coach, as a die hard fan. I mean, these are the moments where that intensity has like your heart rate almost beating out of your chest. Yeah, nail biters, that last 10 seconds, 15 seconds of those guys falling in the net. Not for a penalty. Oh, yeah. Like we haven't even gotten to the penalty, which like, it's a penalty, but also, dude, you let a lot go this evening. Yeah, especially, well, I mean, whoever we're talking about behind the net in Garland. Yeah. So to me, those are no different whatsoever. It's just the time of the game and then the time of the game to me should have been put it more away. Yeah. Yeah. It's Lindo. It's not wasn't the door off, Barry, and it was Lindo like playing, playing. Like he's clearly coming from behind. Yeah. I don't know if it was the hardest shove, but his arms are extended. Like, I can understand why a ref's going to do that, but also, like, really? Yeah. This, I honestly, that call, considering everything they let go. Yeah, that's the thing. And it's like, now you're calling that cross check. They didn't call that cross check on Garland, which was a very similar play in the second period. They don't call that. Okay. Fun. You're putting your whistles away. But like I said, we were kind of joking. You know, one of you guys turned out instead of getting a power plate in this game and the third, I'm like, only if they go down a goal. Right. And that's what happened. Now, Nashville goes down a goal. They get the power plate. Like NHL officiating is very unpredictable, but it's also very predictable in terms of game situations of where all of a sudden the whistles can come. Is it a penalty? Yes. Given how you've adjudicated the game, it wasn't very, I don't think it really fit. People are reaching for the drinks. I used that earlier because Brett liked it between breaks. He thought it was funny. So I was just catering to our guy, Brett. And this text from L.J. Brett, you're the good luck charm. There you go. Or a Brett Fesseling on the post game show. 650, 650. Lot of love for She-Loft's coming in. Let me write a couple of stats here from Sportsnet Stats. She-Loft's 14th goalie in NHL history with a series glenching shutout. And she is also the first rookie goaltender in Canucks history to record a series glenching win. Unreal. Look, we've seen some good goalie performances. I know Bubble Demko was obviously a fantastic discussion. The one that always stands out for me is Markstrom Game 5, which is St. Louis in that series. He was fantastic. And this one, like, this is the one that is going to stand up because this is a different environment. It's an unbelievable job to come into the series and get these starts and just be as cool. Be as cool as you like. It's stunning. And we talked about the upside, sat, right? You've really believed in the upside since they won. We've had some passionate debates about what's going to happen in the playoffs. You were always a staunch, like, believe in this kid. Well, for me, it's always about, like, because each decision to me is about, okay, I win the series, but also, is this the decision that helps push us towards the Stanley Cup? And for me, the Dismiss decision was raising the floor. He's done remarkable this year. But this decision to me is something that chases the ceiling. Yeah. And if it goes right, you can see what the impact looks like. And tonight is, what a moment for him. What a moment for him. All right, let's go to the podium, head coach Rick Talkett after being the preds in six games. I'm starting to turn things in the right direction in the third period, but there's still nothing to show for it. And sort of the guy who probably has the most transparent chances, and most importantly, throughout the games. What's the good point? Because throughout the game, I even said to suit her. I think, I don't know, 13 minutes left in the third. I said, just keep going there. Don't worry about it, because he was getting a little frustrated. He had some good chances. I thought he played really well, not that he scored the goal, but the fact that he kept going there was a key, right? That's what playoff hockey is. It might not happen for a while, but if you keep going to those spots, it'll happen and it'll happen for suits and big game-winning goal for us. There was a moment in Arizona, a month ago, or where he was removed from lineup, and he sort of pointed the note, and, you know, he hadn't scored in the next summer games. It comes with a serious need to do two big third period goals, and you have moments of frustration tonight. When you evaluate what his impact is on that top line, how do you sort of balance all the things he does well with sort of the goal scoring? Yeah, when I held his strategy, I thought he was tired. I thought he needed a break. But when he, you know, I put him over the mills, he's lying. You know, they somehow, they come on the other side with a more chance than the other team. You know, he's a smart guy. You know, he's a guy. You know, I'm sure a little bit more lucky, but I should have another six goals this year, a little more lucky. You know, he's had some bad luck, but, you know, like I said, it's a credit to him to keep going there tonight. That was a big goal for us. Rick, he doesn't pierce. Yeah. Necessarily overtly profile as a guy who's going to be really tough. Yeah. But he seemed to be in this series the way he played his consistency, you know, playing with all the speeches in his mouth the last couple of games. What impressed you the most about him? I thought throughout the series, he was always around the net. You know, the scrums. You got punched in the head a couple of times. You obviously got the puck in the face. Went to the dentist next morning, didn't get much sleep, had to eat soft food. That's tough hockey, right? You know, he's where you go through a little bit of pain, and he shows up for you and scores a big goal. That's really when it comes down to it. And what does this mean to you coaching a team that a lot of people thought was going to be a bubble playoff team, maybe not. Here you are, you're going to be in the final eight, all Canadian match-up. What does it mean to you? Well, it means a lot because, you know, we've grown as a team. You know, we're not pretty. We are who we are, but we hang in and the guys buy in and, you know, I mean, to keep that team to zero, you know, I think the way we play defense really helps us stand the games. Yeah, we would like more offense, of course. Hopefully some of those goals will go in for us in the next series. But I think the buy-in on the way we play defense is keeping us in. And it's been a fabric from our team this year. So I'm just proud since, you know, obviously since I've been here by the training camp, the way guys have bought into what we're trying to do around here. You know, we've had our moments, but we don't apologize who we are. I mean, we've just tried to keep marching along and we're in for a tough series. We know the next series will be tough. And you started the series with nine guys who, including Puse, who had never played a real Stanley Cup playoff series in front of fans. What do you hope the biggest takeaway? What do you hope the most important thing this group learned from this series that will help them moving forward? Yeah, maybe the jitters a little bit more, I don't want to say calmer, maybe more free when you get the puck or something. I felt, you know, we didn't want to make a mistake sometimes. A lot of guys, you know, when we get it, we weren't skating with it. And I thought tonight we were better at skating with it and helped us. Hopefully this went in this series, going to the next series will loosen some people up. And they get a taste, right? But it's going to get harder. You go hard, the next day is not easy. It's going to probably be even harder, and you got to face it. Rick, your goaltender to step into this situation and show the poise that he did. What did that tell you about kind of what he's made of in this series? I mean, that's, you know, they're tough decisions to make, you know. But a guy like him, you know, you just see his demeanor. Even when he wasn't playing, he was up as a third goalie. I mean, he was in practice. He works on his game. He's juggling, you know, he does these routines for hours in the hallway. You get, you just tell the moments not to, you know, he's calm in the net. I mean, these are, I mean, this is just like a playoffs. And this guy's like, hey, you got to, you're the third goalie and you got to go in there. I mean, that takes a lot of, you know what I'm saying, to do that. And have the guys have confidence in them. You know, the guys are confident with him in the net. And Casey too, I mean, you know, and then obviously the big boy Demer. I mean, we got some good goal time in death in this organization. I think you let the cat or the bag, Rick. Puse wasn't the only guy I had have banged up face or head before this game. Were you suffering through an injury? Yeah, it was, it was shaved my head. It's the first time I've done it in about two years. I had those cheap, big ones. Not to rip back, but they're terrible to the razors. You had a hundred and for $0.99. And thanks, Vic, today. She gave me makeup. I put makeup on today, tonight. Um, Rick, I know you've, I know you've talked a lot about Ian Clark and how much trust you put him. But you're still talking about your third goalie with 12 maybe games of NHL experience coming into it. How difficult is that for you as a coach of looking gay? Yes, all right. You know, put that trust in that guy, in this kind of environment. Yeah, I learned from that as a sister coach. We were playing, when I was with Pittsburgh, and Mike Sullivan had to make a big decision between Florian Murray. And, um, this kind of was the same, you know, somewhat of a situation where, you know, you got a pick and you take all the elements and, you know, who's healthy and who's practiced well, who's played games, who has, and you just, you got to make a decision. And I rely on Clarky. You know, obviously it's my decision at the end, but I really rely on his, his, you know, what he thinks. I usually side with him. You mentioned the swagger that, that Arters has, you know, you go back to the other day when JT comes out wearing his dress shirt and everybody has a big laugh. You know, does that speak to just his boys where he just kind of lets it roll off his back? It's funny and he treats it as such. I'm sure you've been around goalies who maybe wouldn't have treated it that smoothly. No, he, I don't think any bothers him. Like, he doesn't say too much. You know, he's going to, he goes to dare with the guys. He does his thing. But, yeah, no, I think the guys have welcomed in and I think that's why. You know, you, you know, sometimes as a young kid you're going to take a little bit of ribbon, but I think he loved it, you know, that, that shirt. I'm not, somebody asked me, I don't think there's so many, so many shirts. There's only one of a kind of those things. What, what, what, going into this game, what did you tell the team, and how do you think that the team are really, how do you think they're really, how do you think they're really ex, ex, ex, ex, ex, the computer? I thought, listen, it was, it was a grinding game by both teams. You know, we had chances, they had chances and I think both teams played well defensively. I'm proud of the way that we played. You know, you got to win one hockey, you know, in the playoffs you're going to have to win these type of games, one nothing games. You might have to win a six, five game sometimes. So, we're pretty, you know, I think we've, this is a dress rehearsal the way we played this year where we can play a one nothing game and be comfortable in it, and I thought the guys were comfortable. Yeah, it was hairy out there and, but I thought the bench was pretty good. I thought it was really good. It wasn't a lot of panic. Even, even when they had some odd man, Russia's guys were yelling, but I saw it some, some, some composure on handling stuff. Sometimes we dive, we slide or we do something, but I thought we hung in there, even in moments when they, you know, they didn't say a four on two. We played the four on two well and, and already came up with a big save. Hi. Hi. Yeah, we got to get in the room. Yeah. That was perfect. Just the, I'm sure you haven't looked ahead, but you have that key four minute kill in the second period, and your penalty kill has been stupendous in this series, but you're also about to face a team that 50% against the best penalty killing team in hockey. Is it, as a coach, just as you think about it, to have a performance like that with sort of the chips down tonight, does that help in terms of tracking in the right direction four on five for the ultimate test effect? Yeah, I think the way we penalty kill the last couple of weeks, three, four weeks helps our confidence, but who's kidding who, you know, we can't get an penalty fast against Edmonton. Let's face it. I mean, I know we're talking, it's really talk about Edmonton, but, you know, we, you know, we can't get five, give them four or five, six power plays. And hopefully, you know, we get, we're allowed to play, you know, let's, let's play the game five on five. Hopefully it's not a penalty fast, but that's on us too. Thank you. Good. Plays it free below his own goal line. Colton Sizzling's gave it away to Patterson. Into the slot suitor couldn't settle the pocket rolls to the left corner. Patterson steps out of the way of a hit attempt from Lozon and got it behind the net for Besser. Run suitor. He scores. Here's Suitor. Beats UC Sorrows. Sticks side with 139 left in the third period. The Canucks finally get the goal they needed. And Pew Souter finally finds the back of the net. His second of the series is a huge goal for Vancouver. They lead one to nothing and they're 99 seconds away from a second round matchup with the Edmonton Oilers. The fourth time is a charm for Pew Souter. Stowing three times by UC Sorrows earlier on in this game. But what a feed by Brock Besser. Throughout the series, he was always around the net. You know, the scrums. He got punched in the head a couple times. He obviously got the puck in the face. Went to the dentist next morning. Didn't get much sleep. Had to eat soft food. That's tough hockey, right? You know, he's where you go through a little bit of pain and he shows up for you and scores a big goal. That's really what comes down to. After a chaotic, maddening ending to the game. A bit of a questionable penalty call. 6 on 4. Bodies at the net. Blocking shots. Diving, sacrificing their bodies and the Canucks winning. A thriller in Nashville boys. Unbelievable, right? 6 on 4 at the end. A lot of people are texting and I don't know if we spend enough time on this yet. But a lot of people have texted in Tyler Myers, right? Like he's been the source of so much angst from Canucks fans for so long. And yet here's this huge moment. 6 on 4. You got to kill off 30 seconds. All the chaos. And there is a puck that bounces over the night quest. And she loves his scrambling. He's not going to get there in time. And Tyler Myers like on his backside. All 6 with 7 limbs a Kimbo there to get a shot block. And we had a great text in here. 650-650. Marty the Red. Natural blocking shots was the story of the series. Yet Myers, the last second shot block wins the Canucks the series. In the end it only takes one. Marty the Red. Great point. Great point. And Brett, I mean, it still sacrifices. That in the moment must be so painful. But like the coach mentioned, embrace the pain. He talked about Pew Souter took a puck off the face in game 5. Laughing back. Had to go see the dentist. Didn't get a lot of sleep. He's in pain. What's that diet scrambled eggs in mashed potatoes basically? Smoothies. Smoothies. Yeah. Bananas. Yeah. It's not great. Yeah. Jello. Stuff like that. Usually it's like all red sauces and stuffs that all stings it even when it's healing. You're like going to these source. But yeah. It's a commitment from the entire team. I think Myers is a great example. Obviously he's been phenomenal. Massive. Like you're talking to talk about, you know, we're not pretty. We hang in there. This defensive system keeps us in. It's something we've been kind of thriving or striving for for the whole year. But Myers plays really well into that system. They all committed to it. And the thing that I want to point out in that kind of theme is she loves after when they're coming in and they're celebrating. Everybody's like, she loves smiling and hugging him and get right. And you can see this team kind of even gelling more and the commitment to those type of things brings everybody closer something to bond over. And you kind of now you get to sit in the dressing room and just enjoy it at that moment. Yeah. Like Quinn told us. I mean, they're going to enjoy it. But it is on to the next round. But you have to take a moment to like to really celebrate the victory too, right? Yeah. That's, I mean, blocking a shot with your head if you're cool. Yeah. It's not worth it unless you get to enjoy it along the way. So this is where you get to enjoy it, especially in the locker room with just the guys. Because it's amazing when you do this, how fast everybody comes in. And not that the moment's done, but it's, you know, it gets clouded with other people and media comes in and family and stuff. So it's just like to enjoy these moments with the guys that half an hour is such a sweet spot. Just locked in a moment in history, right? Exactly. You always mentioned this team is unique, right? Things change, contracts change, and when you achieve, you kind of look around the room like, all right, these are the 19, 22 guys we did it with. Yeah. Here's a, here's a moment that's going to bond all of us together. It's something I'm not going to forget. Like I'm not going to forget sooner with a bad lap eating soft food going out and score, you know, and then. And chance after chance after chance. Yeah. Exactly. You're diving in front of a pox and then grabbing she lost. You know, they're just like, it's very little things, but there's this camaraderie that's just kind of born from it. But to the point that talk was mentioning, right, it's, it's win this series. Obviously enjoy it. But hopefully this loosens guys up, right? And going to the next one, it's going to get harder. But now I've had just a sense of relief too. It's like, okay, we did something. Totally. The first round is always the hardest because there's, there is that anxiety of getting into it and that anticipation and what's it going to be like. But now you're just in it. It's games every two days. Now you got those jitters off. You've got like obviously leading up to Edmonton, that first puck drop. There's a little bit, but then you're just kind of playing. It's like, okay, we're here. Now we've proven ourself. We belong here. Now we just got to go beat this team and feed off our fans energy and have the group inside. So now it's not easier, but yeah, it should be a little less jitters, a little less thinking about kind of, you know, how it's going to turn out. Yeah, absolutely. Fans are absolutely delighted with this one. Kieran says those last 30 seconds almost made me want to throw up. But we did it. We all did it, Joe. Bring on round two, baby. And I know a lot of those texts are coming in, you know, fans that were absolutely on the edge watching this game too with how things were going. I saw this one earlier from Jim who says, "My watch informed me on multiple occasions that my heart rate was going above 120 because of this game. Crazy stuff felt like the Preds plan was to lock down the stars and let Mikayev and Sutter get all the attempts they want, glad it backfired on them. Go Canucks go, bungalow Jim texting in." I mean, I want to say the game plan was to leave those guys alone, but when you put extra attention on other players, some other guys get looks. And tonight, Mikayev and Sutter both had a tremendous number of looks. Mikayev too, you know, we're kind of joking and saying both these guys, the guys are getting all the chances and neither looks like they're going to score despite getting endless chances. Finally, it worked out, but to the textures point, if you're putting extra attention on Patterson, on JT, on Besser, on the Star of Guys, well, other players will get soft spots and those guys had been getting it in the series. Yeah, exactly. If you're a player that's a threat, it's called JT Miller, and I'm on the other team, I've just done a bunch of homework and talked to every single day about how this guy's driving their play and we need to hit him every moment we get. And so as a defender, if JT gets the puck, I'm trying to close as quick as possible, get a hit, whatever it is, but everybody's thinking that. So exactly that. You're going to have two guys. You're going to get duplications and it opens up guys. And Granite Sutter did make some really good place to get in those areas, right? He's the guy driving the post. Those are those little details that create options and obviously he didn't score off those two, but you know, you stick with it exactly like Target mentioned. Hey, I think talk, I was saying 13 minutes left, you kind of went over. Yeah, hey, stay with it. We actually saw Sutter break his stick over the over the boards. Definitely frustrated. Yeah, of course, right? You have three great opportunities and he's thinking he's blowing the series and then he comes up as a hero. So he's stuck with it. That resilience that talk I talked about and he comes up huge. Yeah. It sometimes is the unlikely players that are heroes and tonight, while the third string goalie pitches a shutout and Pew Sutter gets the game winning goal. Incredible stuff from the Vancouver Canucks in Nashville, dispatching the Preds in six games. Let's go to the foam boards, 604-280-0650 or toll-free, 1-888-275-0650. Let's go to POCO where we have John on the line. John, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts tonight? Well, guys, thanks for taking the call. You know, it's obviously it's a euphoric time, you know, a feeling and everything, but despite the win in that, I got to tell you, and you guys, Vic and Sat sort of stole my thunder. I am just so incredibly frustrated by the, I frankly think the deplorable level of refereeing. I mean, on the balance of play, we won the Series 4-2 and they had eight or nine more power plays than we did. I mean, something is just like that, like you guys referenced it and we all, the people I was watching with, how do you not call McDonough for caving in Garland in the second period? And that you call that one? I get it, you know, I mean, but I mean, that's a brutal call on Lindholm. You could let that go despite all the howling from the Nashville fans. I mean, you can't find it to connect one power play. I'm sorry, guys, but I just, I don't know if these referees, what their level of skill is. I guess I go back to the days of Kerry Fraser and Bill McCreary, guys. I really knew that how to, how to feel for the game, and I just don't know it just if it's, if it's coming down from NHL to manage the game, but it's just, it's really, it is, it, it, the, the Canucks have taken the task of not complaining about the referee, and it just seems to, like, they just don't seem to get any calls. And I don't know if it's just on a connect, but I think if I was unbiased, I'd still say, how did that team not get a power play? Thanks, guys. Hey, thanks for the phone call. I understand the frustration, John and Paul Cohen. And one of the things, we're not going to spend too much time in the Canucks one. We're not going to sit here and bemoan officiating in the Canucks victory, and we're spending too much time on it. But there were instances in the previous games where the Canucks were down a goal, or the game was tied, tough situation, and the Canucks were either hooked, slashed, lost the puck, and the other team got possession, and they didn't blow, blow to whistle. If that cross-check happens and the prets keep the puck in the zone, maybe they don't blow to whistle, it's because the puck went out. But, again, going to the inconsistent, I can understand why John is so frustrated watching this because we've seen so many other situations in this series where that call wasn't made. So, listen, the Canucks won, you can say they won in spite of officiating or whatever, but I can understand why people are pointing to the inconsistencies because all we're seeing is inconsistencies with officiating nowadays. I imagine Brett, like I've always just heard and for myself, it's like there's going to be different values from every ref. Just whatever the standard is, set it in the first five, ten minutes, and then we'll adjust ourselves over the last 50. Yeah, you're looking for consistency. That's all you're looking for. You can't really control what they're doing. You don't want to worry too much about it. Like, you're going to get good days, you're going to get bad days, and say it's not worth fretting over it. The only thing I can think about this one play is that they're thinking, okay, now they're going to get a clear empty net and the series is over because of maybe a possible infraction. So, maybe that's the call. Obviously, it's a huge swing because it becomes a six-on-four for a series clincher. So, I think that elevates your emotions in the entire process. Well, and especially on the six-on-four, when the puck came across, and there was so much open net, how many of you thought they're going to score? We're all like, "Oh, this puck is going in." And then I see of bodies, Canucks white, just stormovers, JT. It's a Tyler Myers. All of the crease. But, yeah, I thought for sure, when the puck came across there, it was going to go in and we're going to have a tie game going into overtime and the outrage would have been incredible. It would have burned down our laptops in the text inbox. Keep your thoughts coming into our text inbox, 656.50. Ian, however, says that rested us a favor. Our power play has sucked. You know, you'll still take the power play, but I understand the sentiment overall. Let's take one more phone call here. Let's go to Richmond, where we have Rob on the line. Rob, thanks for calling in, and what do you have for us tonight? Rob. All right, we lost Rob, so let's go to Edmonton, where we have Mel on the line. Mel, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? Oh, man. You know, I'm actually from Vancouver. Okay. I'm 60 years old, so I can remember when Vancouver and the others would play. Vancouver always kicked them out of the playoffs. If you look at the stats, can anyone of you tell me the stats when it was between Vancouver and the others, how many times Vancouver kicked them out? I will last time they played was 1992. Yeah. Okay, but between Vancouver and the others on the stats, Vancouver, I will say 90% of the time kicked out the others. 90%. I think the Canucks in order was met twice in the playoffs. One's Edmonton, one, and one's Vancouver, one. Hello? Hello? I think we lose no one. Yeah. All right. We'll look at the results later. So basically, the Canucks should knock Edmonton out again. We'll look at the playoff history. They played nine games in the playoffs so far against one another. The Canucks and the Edmonton Oilers. Yeah. The Oilers are seven, two, and no in the playoffs against the Canucks all the time. Yeah. So there you go. So I don't think it was kind of what happened. All right. It's '86 and '92, right? Yes, '86 and '92. Those are the two times the Canucks. Yeah. So I mean, you're seeing history here. Canucks and Edmonton Oilers going head-to-head in the playoffs in a seven game series. I don't feel like the Canucks in the peak Oilers' years were not going off. Gretzky. No, I know. I was like, wait, what? All right. Let's take one more phone call before we hit the break. Let's go to POCO where we have Panite on the line. Panite, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? Hey, how's it going, boys? Good, man. What do you have for us tonight? Honestly, such an awesome win. Just so amped up. Just... Oh, my God. The energy in the building was unreal. And I told my ex-wife, I'm like, I'm going to divorce each one if they win. And they won. So she's gone out the window. I'm taking two Ws tonight, baby. Let's go. Go! Go! Go! Go! Thanks to the phone call. I'm not sure I know what it is. Between the last two calls, between the last two calls, the vibes are crazy right now. The vibes are really vibing on that one, man. I'm happy you're happy. What? Two victories? Oi, oi, oi. All right. Great stuff. I'm actually on a text unbox. 650, 650. This one here says, "Tofino Todd, contrary to some Nux fans." I actually thought the stripes did a good job tonight, trying to stay out of the way. I'm just glad I wore my 94 Glendon jersey today. That's Tofino Todd. And this one here from Kyle in Trail BC texting in as well said, "Is that guy over the phone carry Fraser?" Yeah, who knew the carry Fraser reference catches that plus 4,000 tonight. Fantastic. The carry reference is plus 5,000. Yeah, all right. Listen, we got to hit the break. We'll be back on the other side. It is a Connect Central post game show. Mailer near corner collides heavily with Sisson's turns over in front. Parsa turns and shoots and there's she loves to make the same top of the crease. Off a poor decision with the puck from J.T. Miller deep in his own zone. We don't say that very often. But luckily for him, Archer, she loves made a good stop on parson from point blank range. And it's still scoreless as we near the nine minute mark of the third period. And that was a very close call for Vancouver. First of all, an excellent back check in recovery by Brock Besser. But right after that, a ballon sews along the boards to the left of She loves. And J.T. Miller with a spinner em up. Backhand pass to the middle of the ice. And luckily for Vancouver, that is saved by She loves no rebound. Archer she loves. Fantastic between the pipes for the Vancouver Canucks elimination game. First ever rookie goalie to eliminate an opponent in the playoffs for the Vancouver Canucks. What a performance for the young net minor. Canucks on to round two to face the Edmonton Oilers. What looks to be game one happening on Tuesday? We'll get official confirmation coming up in a little bit. I know J.T. Miller mentioned. We'll play some audio coming up in a bit post game that they don't have a lot of time before their next game. And maybe we'll think the game's going to be on Sunday. No official word yet. But what we've heard so far from the TV side is that it's going to be Tuesday. We'll wait official confirmation on this when we get it for sure. But the Canucks are playing Edmonton. We know that game one will be at Roger's Arena. It is the post game show. Set to your shop. Brad Fessling and Bick Nizar. Keep your thoughts coming in to our text inbox. 656.15. Let's go there before we go to the foam boards, Bick. Because a lot of reaction from a hyped up fan base. And 18,000 strong at Roger's Arena for the watch party tonight. Losing their minds. I know people who were texting and calling in and saying the atmosphere was terrific there as well. And why wouldn't it be? It's a hockey market starving with playoff action. I haven't won a playoff round in 13 years with real fans in a building. And yeah, sometimes you wish you would see it happen in your own arena. But I don't care how you win a playoff for a series. And that building was full of fans tonight. Watching the game and shout out to all of you for being there and enjoying it all together too. Yeah, a lot of text coming in. The vibes downtown are amazing right now. Amrit texting in the Myers save at the end. Paid for his whole contract. I got no nails left. Nail biter right till the end on sign text here on this one. Phil in Alberta. Nail biter at this point. King Archers has got to catch on to text coming into the inbox. And also Ian. Sorry. This text. Absolutely fantastic. My old neighborhood. Heard me yell. Tell me I'm wrong. Ian Clark, Adam Foote. Gone chart deserves so much credit for what's happening right now. Ian Clark is the goalie whisper. And this is what we talked about the other day. That three years ago when his contract was up. And then you have Thatcher to go at the end of season press conference. Talking about like. Gotta bring this guy back. It's these moments that impact your pro level to say like. And this guy played a huge role in the kux wing series. Yeah. I think in pro one of the things is you get to this level and not that teaching stops. But it's a lot of like do you have it or don't. Right. And there's not a lot of. Wanted to make guys better. I mean they want to make guys better. But it's important to win. It's a business. It's a business. Like you know it gets kind of cut throat and they don't have a lot of time. And I know Ian Clark has put in a lot of time with these guys. You've seen guys that you know kudos to the scouting staff and bringing the right guys. And to bring in guys that experience with like this myth. But he really focuses on making them better and working with them. And you can see that with with artists and this myth really. Yeah absolutely and just just fantastic stuff from the netminder. Steve from White Rock asks about to leave my house heading to Scott Road. But who gets more credit the shutout seal for the shutout sea lobs she lobs or the team play. A bit of both. You have to give both credit. I mean if if those guys don't block that shot at the end. Maybe the puck goes in right the sacrifices were there but it was an overall team effort. He was terrific. And obviously the net mine the overall team play was strong as well again tonight. Right and even in like the second period we're talking like okay what chances were there. And yeah like the first period. You know Forest Brook has one that goes off the post or the second period he has one that goes off the post. And there's a one timer. But it just never felt overwhelming. And when you create that environment for goalies naturally poised himself right. World championships and even only seen him at the NHL level. It never looks overwhelmed and suddenly you can see everything and he's just snaring pucks out of the air. And it just it looked comfortable for him. And for Canucks fans I imagine you think I'm like as the game progresses. Yeah it's tense but boy he never looked stressed. No and even when the only time I really felt stressed like something had happened. There was that shift was it in the third one. There was three turnovers in the middle Miller Besser. That was the second period yeah. And you can just tell the guys were exhausted so they're off in Hughes. And it's just you know they're just open. And he still made some like pretty casual saves in there where he was just. So do you think she loves me by the Beatles catches on me. Oh that might. I see it. I think it might. People wearing that shirt downtown just like. Forget the car flags. The newest accessory is going to be that shirt that JT wore on the ice. Even me rocking that by next week. That express ship will get it sent immediately wherever makes that. Apparently it's a Hugo boss shirt. Oh that's even more. It's going to be easier. More loud. But that was a lot. What's cheaper game one tickets or that shirt. Depends on what you're ordering your phone. But yeah. So it may not be that easy. Yeah. She loves me. That's pretty good. They were chanting that after you won MVP for the World Championship. Yeah. When they did their parade. She loves me. Well fans are coming up with nicknames for him too. King Arters is not going to cut it. So it so emerges the Latvian lion. Somebody texted in and someone else says changing my dog dog Archie's name to Arters. There you go. Games like this man. I think it goes out of Canucks lore forever. Like you're saying. Like even if she loves doesn't have this lengthy career with the Canucks 20 years from now. You'll remember the third string goalie from Latvia who won game six in Nashville and pitch a shout out. You'll never forget this. It changes narratives. It's a totem for fans. Like this is a game that will live on for a lot of a lot of fans. A lot of new fans. Oh she loves like he can do this. You can do that. And this is how those those legends start in big moments like this. Yeah. If we're talking sorry interrupt here. If we're talking see love songs. It's got to be come on already. Let's go party to the tune of Barbie. Let's go to come on. Let's go. That's not that already party. I see you already. Let's go party. Huge. Huge. Yeah, that's good. I like it. That's why we call him Fast Eddie Gregory. He comes up with a lot of great stuff really quickly. All right. Keep your thoughts coming into our text inbox six fifty six fifty. For those listening on the network, we're going to eight o eight. So for the operators wondering what is going on. We're going a few extra minutes. We'll hit you out here. I want the series man. Let's go to the phone board six, so four, two, eight, zero, six, fifteen. Let's go to Quikotland where we have Paul on the line. Paul, how do you feel with your Canucks now going to round two to face the Oilers? Well, pretty, pretty good guys. I'm very excited, kind of terrified of what awaits us in the second round. But I'll deal with that like all of us well and a little bit. But I just wanted to talk about the coaching staff. So I was one of the Canucks fans that was, I was pretty upset when the Canucks fired Bruce Boudreau, not just because of the way that the whole thing kind of came down, but because I figured at the time, it's like, come on, Bruce Boudreau is one of the winningest coaches in NHL history, and I mean, he did a pretty good job with the Canucks. And as if a new coaching staff is going to be able to come in and do anything better. And I was completely wrong. And it's not just Rick Talkett, Rick Talkett and Adam Foote and Sergey Ganchar deserves so much credit. They have done a complete 180 on this team defensively. And it's really great to watch. And I think that the hockey is not as exciting, but I will take a 1-0 win over a 7-5 loss that they used to have under Bruce Boudreau like any day of the week. So I know Jack Adams, Talkett got nominated for that. I hope he wins. I think he should win. But really they should have like a Jack Adams for the whole coaching staff. Because I think Adam Foote and Sergey Ganchar has done amazing things with the Canucks defense. So that's just, I wanted to get that out there. Thanks, guys. Hey, thanks for the phone call. Paul, I'm giving a lot of love to the rest of the coaching staff. And I mean, the head coach, he's always the first to give his staff credit. Today, when he met with the media, he was mentioning right off the bat. Like, this is not, it's a team award. It's not just for me. And obviously, the work Adam Foote's done, Clark, of course, with the gold tending. But the entire coaching staff, you don't make that type of turnaround, Brett, unless the coaches are all in throughout the entire staff. Yeah, 100%. It's a team they can talk. It always gives credit to those guys. And you're right. Like bringing in Ganchar. And I mean, Sadeens are even in there. But just the experience on the back end or whatever situation you want, you got it covered. So, and you're seeing that as a trend a lot in the GM positions and the coaching positions. Just a lot of player experience and communication through ex players and guys. And I understand the game on that level. This is why you get best in class, right? Like Jim Rutherford's Hall of Fame, right? One multiple Stanley Cups. The network to find the right people. Ian Clark, best in class. Yeah. And you find the right people. Like Sergey Ganchar, like he does it in his role. But who wasn't an admirer of Sergey Ganchar in the way he played? Adam Foote, the way he played. The pedigree these guys have. You look at the coaching staff. I know many, during the regular season, we have beat writers and people come on the show from other markets. Like every one of them remarks like, man, like coaching staff. Got a lot of experience back there. Like, okay, maybe not coaching experience. But these moments, like how poised are the clocks throughout so many moments of the series? You don't think it's easy to look back there and be like, all right, that guy's going to do this. What he's saying resonates to me in this moment. 100%. And something that the guy talked it has spoken about himself because he's, you know, he's been asked sometimes, you know, why don't you get more frustrated and why aren't you calling out the officials? And he says, well, if I'm asking my guys to be cool and compose under pressure and meet pressure or pressure, I can't be losing my cool behind the bench. Yelling is screaming and getting worked up about everything. So that type of approach, it does rub off on the guys, doesn't it? Yeah. Well, I mean, to me, the perfect example is Miller. Yeah. Look at the steps Miller's made in the last year since talk stick over. Just like, it's a perfect embodiment of like that power forward and something that's been there and done it and has that respect. And, you know, I'd be familiar to look up that and that's the guy that's leading you. That's amazing. I think he's took a lot of steps for that. So, and then to touch on the Boudreaux thing, if I got a little second, I find it, the paradigms just switched. So it used to be, if you remember the New Jersey lockdown, super system. Yeah. Right. That's what the game used to be. It was like very locked down, very systematic. And Boudreaux came in and he was the guy that was like, it's a lot of skill here when we got like young Russians, Sam and Avashkin. So he took the reins off. And that guy's actually used her skill and play and he had so much success with it. And then the last five, seven years, switch the other way. There's so much skill and not a lot of systems. And then you saw everybody go that way. And now you're seeing more system guys come in and lock it down and whatever. So it just swings and you get this copycat league and that's part of Boudreaux. Why didn't it necessarily work last year? But he has had a lot of success. Absolutely. And if you want to look at, you know, the work foot and gone chart specifically specifically have done, and obviously Quinn uses the guy that's gone from being a top defenseman to a potentially Norris winning defenseman this season. And the team's best player throughout the course of the season. But look at Tyler Myers, for instance. Look at where his game is today, working with these guys, this system, this coaching staff. And look at where his game was last year. And I think those are the examples I would point to and say they made already a premier defenseman into perhaps the premier defenseman this season. And they turned a guy that who has a lot of variance in his game and has shown some ability to a dependable defenseman. I know we have a lot of guys to talk about. Myers was an absolute monster in this play series. Absolute monster. And he stepped up huge tonight. And I think he best epitomizes the work the coaching staff has done on the defensive end to turn this team around. So what is it about those guys, right? Because we see here sometimes we're like, "Oh man, like he's January." He had a tough night. And then the sentiment at that time is, and we'll talk about this maybe on the other side, is, "Oh yeah, but in the playoffs he's going to be better." And it does materialize. How does that happen for a guy like Tyler Myers? I think those guys have that gear or commitment to these details that are really hard to do. And it's not necessarily that people can't do them. It's that they're not willing to do. Not a lot of people are willing to just roll up in a ball in front of guys shooting pucks or going in. If you're going to retrieve a puck, and you know you can squirt this two feet to the left and you'll get a breakout, but you're going to have two guys squishing. You'll get a squish by the two guys. Right? That's a commitment. And there's certain guys that'll do that. And those are two small examples, but think about the entire breadth of a defenseman's skills. And those guys have that. So they take it to the next level and commit to the little intangibles. Brett, great stuff Matt. Tuesday, game one. We'll talk again. More coming up next on home of your Canucks Sportsnet 650. Miss any part of Halford and Bruff in the morning, subscribe to the show wherever you get your podcast and don't miss an episode. This is where you talk Canucks. Miller can't clear the zone. Held into the point by Nyquist. Middle of the icy oce. Let's circle Forsberg. Low shot missed the net. It deflects up the near side. Nyquist holds in. 20 seconds left for Yoshi. Long shot deflected off a stick to the near corner. O'Reilly with it. Pushed to the boards by Myers. 15 seconds left. Miller gets it free. Can't clear. Yoshi left circle Forsberg. Into the slot. Throw to the goal. Stop by Sheila. She off her seats. It's held the down. Night with shoots. What a save for Canucks falling across. It stays out of the net. Now Yoshi, high slot. Two seconds left. He misses the goal. And the Canucks have won the series. And now Yoshi loves. Picks up his first career. National Hockey League shut out. His first shut out in the playoffs. He stops all 27. Predators shots. And you could get in the handshake line. The Canucks have moved on to round two for the first time since 2011. And they'll face the Edmonton Oilers. Up next. It wasn't easy. It was a tough game. They ran into a hot goalie. But they had a hot goalie of their own. Artur Shilovs with a heck of an effort. 27 saves. And get a timely goal from Pew Souter. Fire up the Scar Road Cellies. The Canucks are going to round two. Canucks beat the National Predators. One nothing. Game six to move on to the second round to play the Edmonton Oilers. And what a first round. You were going to say beat the vegetables, weren't you? I may have been. I may have been a little tongue tied. A little twisted up here. I mean, the vibes. Two weeks ahead. Hey, maybe I foreshadowed. What's that come? Hey, well, what have you jinxed it? I don't believe in jinxes. I don't know why. I don't believe in jinxes. Don't live in fear, folks. No, I believe in confidence. That's what I believe in. Ooh. A lot going on and coming on the show here. And even when we're done, Josh Elia Wolf has come into tag us out. Post, post. This is your night. We're not going to stop at night, fuck. We're not. I mean, especially with the Canucks winning. And right now, you know, their car is streaming down Scott Road. I know people are listening to us right now celebrating honking their horns. They're driving around the city. I know people across the province are in their cars right now listening. Absolutely exhilarated. Having a lot of fun downtown Vancouver is hopping right now as well. This city comes alive when the playoffs arrive. But it explodes when the Canucks win a playoff series. And something we haven't seen in this town in such a long time. I'm just so delighted for the fan base, honestly. It's an entire generation of fans in this market that have never experienced this. When you haven't been in a real playoff situation in 13 years and won around, that's an entire generation of fans who are teenagers now, early 20s now, who haven't experienced anything like this. You're an 18 year old. You were four or five years old that that that's serious. Yeah. And then in 2011 and look, the bubble obviously happened, but I don't. I don't want to dismiss the bubble. Obviously sat because it was a real thing. But even like we noticed the overall interaction we get right now on a night like tonight versus what happened in the bubble. And it's not that people weren't like pumped up and Scott Road sellies weren't obviously happening and all these things. But the overwhelming interaction. We just see in the inbox right now, people calling it. It's heightened. And it feels like hockey season. It feels like playoffs and connects around too. And it's just totally different than what it was four years ago. Yeah. Completely different. Completely different. And I'm just so happy for fans enjoying this out. Just enjoy the moment. We'll talk about the second round and you can get into how confident you feel. You don't feel. But for the moment, enjoy the victories and a big one here for the Canucks tonight. A lot of reaction on text inbox 65650. This one here says did you guys see that shot of Alveen and Rutherford. Looked cool as can be just business as usual. Stone cold. Love it. Go Canucks go. That's Chuck from PG texting in. Yeah. I mean those guys just saw it even when the connects won an over time. The Lindholm goal. They were just okay. We're done. Let's go home. It's only round one for these guys. They've been here before. They've seen it before. All right. Let's go to the phone board. We're going to go zero six fifty. We're told free one triple eight two seven five zero six fifty. And let's go to Surrey where we have Nathan on the line. Nathan buddy. What's going on? How you feeling tonight? You got me boys? We gotcha. Let's freaking go. I'm flabbergasted right now gentlemen. I had to work. I am a music teacher. So I had to teach after school and the game time was tough. But man, I was I was shaking. My knees were bouncing the entire time I was teaching my kids. Crazy gentlemen. Crazy gentlemen. I'm elated right now. Second more or second round and coming boys and more playoff talk. And I mean, you know what? We had a lot of boring moments in the series boys. A lot of trap hockey going on. And you know what? Not a lot of shots on goal. But as long as you win, it doesn't really matter how you get it done. And I mean, at the end of the day, we get the we get the high share of the high danger chances tonight or during the series boys. I'm not sure what it was tonight. I don't know if you guys want to talk on that and shout that out. But that would be awesome. I'm just I'm hyped for you guys to be able to call another series. It's great man. And I guess the question is, is this season a success now that we've won a playoff round? Not to say that we're satisfied here, but I mean, you know what? I don't think it's going to happen against the Oilers, but is this a successful season? You guys can talk about that. And let's just go, man. Go Canucks go Jay team Miller. Let's go boys. Good night. Thanks to the phone call. Nathan, music teacher was teaching the ukulele today. So as far as the high danger chances, according to natural static. And again, like it's not gospel. But at five on five, there were 12 eight in favor of Nashville. But I would say this, the actual best scoring chances were still Canucks. Yeah, I feel like some of those might be we always talk about sequences rather than individual chances. I kind of feel like maybe some of those were on rebounds. Yeah. And I mean, there's six on four is not five on five and they had the open end and the Canucks blocked it. But the Canucks actually had like a few like I thought the Canucks had some the better clear cut chances. But overall scoring chances. High danger is five on five. According to natural static, 12 eight in favor of Nashville going to the second part of that question. What was the other part of the question? Is this a successful season? Yes, it's a success. You won the division, you won the playoff round. It's not the ultimate success. No, of course, right? You want to do more. But I don't know if you can, if you go, if you went from not making the playoffs in four years and last time you made it was the bubble. And you not only made the playoffs, won a division, had 109 points and you want to won the first round. And you have a first round pick. You have a first round pick too. But since you won the round to me, it's a success. Like you had a successful season. It's not a failure season. That's the thing, right? We're not going to be talking about disappointment and like questioning. Okay. Are they making the right decisions or can these players do this? Like you win a round and it clears a lot of heads. And now like you accomplish something. And yeah, look, it's it's it's natural and all these things. But you put yourself in the in the final eight. That's a big feather in your cap. Well, here's the thing. Are they good enough to go beyond this? That's what we're going to find out. Like, are they good enough to actually win another round and go farther? And hey, if you get to a point where you'd lose to another team, you know, okay, well, they were just better. You weren't good enough. And it's like, well, there's more work to do. The reason it would have been a disappointment to lose to Nashville, not only as you mentioned, they gave up the first round pick to get Lindholm, but it's a playoff series. It should have won. That's not to take Nashville lightly, of course, right? But this is series. It should have won. So they took care of business. Now the question really becomes how good are they truly? Are they truly good enough to do even more damage? It was interesting to me too. We mentioned that quote from Rick Talkett that winning the series and going to the next one will loosen some guys up. And obviously it's going to get harder, but you're hoping at least. And you mentioned that guys got to face it. We'll talk about the Oilers and everything in days ahead, right? But one thing that really stands out to me is if you just look at this series, who is all the pressure on them, right? We're talking about an Oilers team that has all Oilers now. It's all in the Edmonton. This round was all Vancouver against Nashville. A hundred percent, but this is all on the road. If they fail, boy, they've got some hard decisions to make. If the Vancouver Canucks lose the next round, it's like, okay, how do you start the era where you're doing this consistently? How do you take the next step? How do you take the next step? All the pressure is going to be on Edmonton. And that loosening up thing is really interesting that Rick Talkett mentioned that because yeah, as much as it's house money now that you have a quote, quote, successful season and you want to achieve more of course, but they don't have to be tense in the series. And when guys play loose and you just thinking and like there were moments of the series like Patterson and all these guys were like, oh man, they looked over focused. Yeah, right? It's like it's just grinding your teeth. I'm curious if they do loosen up and just the natural pressure that comes off them. And if it's Edmonton that's gripping the sticks and just, oh, we have to get through. We have to get through. And you almost want it so much that you're overdoing everything. How that translates. And I also want to point this out. What this series look like and what Edmonton series look like does not is not an indicator of what the next series will look like. Every series is a little more species. Yes, 100%. And so it's going to be interesting to see how that one develops as well. Yeah. Mike and Tawassen says not going to miss all those blocked shots friggin Nashville. That was rough. Yeah. I mean, and not to say it's not going to be easy. And the coach said it gets harder every single round. This one here says I'm pretty confident the Canucks can board the Oilers in six games. That was a good funny text. And Duncan says we played great against the Oilers all year. And the pressure is on them. All right. This one here says tied the Leafs with playoff series wins in the last 13 years. Season is a success. That's only. Amazing. Amazing. All right. A lot of reaction on the text in the box. 65650. Try to read one more. Yeah, do one more. Okay. Because we were talking about song suggestions or she loves. I don't know if I should even do this one. Yeah, I do it. But Aichi in Toronto. I'll channel the Travis Kelsey who says you got a fight for your right to Eddie. All right. That's not bad. That's good. It's good. Bick me. I've lost his voice now though. I'm good. I'm good. Your voice was like on the LTI. I know. At the end of the season. But you know what, man? Everyone's blocking shots. You get a lead on the line now. Yeah. Unlike Demko. You didn't go out on your first try. I have to point back from injury. Geez. I'm just saying. Come on. A lot of people are texting in. Should we talk about that? Okay. So Thatcher Demko. So he was skating. Yeah. Last couple of days he has been skating with the team. He still remains. If everything goes well for him to perhaps be available late second round. Now the Canucks are into the second round. Could they get him back later in that round? I mean, that kind of looks to be the case right now. We'll see what it looks like in a few days or whatever. But the other question has been answered. Oh, Shilloff is starting to gain one. Shilloff's like, that's your guy moving forward. No. Spiritual advisor says, should Bick and Sat or revisit their debate about Dismita and Shilloff's. Okay. So what debate? What debate? No, Bick was right. It was about faith in Shilloff's. However, for those saying, you know, Sat take the L. No, no, no, there's no L here. No, no, but the thing was what I said about a month ago was when Demko, if Demko gets hurt in the playoffs and I can't believe what we talked about happened. So if Demko gets hurt in the playoffs, the first goalie who's going to get a shot is going to be the Smith. Whether I like it or you like it or don't like it, it's going to be the Smith, right? After that, like it's anybody's game. I will say though, you had far more faith from day one that Shilloff's could carry that torch in the playoffs and he's shown he can do that. Huge. It's unbelievable. Right? Like, for me, it was always stylistic and I'm like stunned by the poison head. I mean, unreal. Yeah. And I would say, I mean, I think it would be wrong to characterize this as Arthur Shilloff's stole it from Vancouver. Like, I think it was a team effort. Very good team, defensively, a really good team effort defensively, absolutely, right? Like I think that's what it was. But he, honestly, anything he was asked to do, he did. Yeah. That's the thing. And he got a big shout out. Yeah. Huge shout out. Partip says seriously, can we confirm Petey doesn't have an inner ear issue, a question, Mark? So this is what I will say about Patterson, right? And somebody was texting in earlier, you guys, you have to get Patterson credit for the game tie and goal. He gets an assist. Like the game winning goal, sorry, game winning goal. There's only one goal that scored in tonight's game assisted by Besser and Patterson. Besser makes the pass to Souter. There's some great work by Patterson on that shift. That was a strong shift. And that comes out a few of those in that game. So I get it. You want Patterson to do better? But hey, you needed a win. He contributed on the game winning goal to win a series winning goal. Hey, blocks to clear up the wall, tried sending her to Souter. His shot goes back into the corner, wins a battle against Lozon and paviliers creeping up that wall thinking that puck's going to score it up. Patterson knocks it down low and Besser with an unbelievable spin on Carrier, gets that to Souter and there's Souter who beats Lozon and pavilier back into the center of the ice and they just can have leverage on Souter and he just tweaks it in. Yeah, huge moment for him. Again, I really feel like Burroughs, it wasn't as dramatic, right, because game seven in Chicago and all these things. But remember what chances Burroughs had in that game? Just thinking, dude, are you going to get one, are you going to get one, are you going to get one and then can pull you off the wall and there's Burroughs? Souter, so many chances to close this game out and be the hero. And he thought, is it going to come? And there's Rick Tock at saying, hey, 13 minutes left in the third, I just kept telling him, don't get frustrated. That's what playoff hockey is, just keep going to those spots and he did and eventually gets that one with 90 seconds to go. Yeah, unreal, fantastic stuff. From the Vancouver Canucks, Pew Souter, the game winning goal assisted by Brock Besser and Elias Patterson as shutout for arters, she logs, like Canucks on to face the Edmonton Oilers in the second round. Let's go to the foam boards. Let's go to Nelson, Alberta, where we have Al on the, Nelson in BC, where we have Al on the line. Al, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? All the way to get that right, boys. Hey? Oh, yeah. No, hey, you know what? Nelson, BC, boys. I know. I know. I was, I was, I was reading Nelson. I saw your name, Al and I read it as AB initially. I'm like, wait, what? No, but it's, it's, it's BC. We got you, Al. Thanks for calling in. Oh, yeah. No problem. You guys are working hard. And what a great poll game show and all what a win. Boys, I was just like, I was just freaking out, you know, like I can. What drama? What drama? No, none. A game like that. I can't recall. I just can't recall a game. I remember Matt Cook in the dying seconds way, way back, but that was huge. No, absolutely. I mean, I can't think of too many games. I mean, even that, the Matt Cook one was at the end of regulation. He tied the game, right? Like that was a tie in the game and you go to overtime and then Martin gel and I won it for the flames. It was kind of a, you know, it kind of sucked at the end. But you're right. I can't think of a series clinching game where it's zero, zero heading into the third and you get a LACO and it goes your way. I mean, hasn't this been, hasn't this been one of those seasons, Al, where usually these things don't happen to the Canucks, but this year they are? Well, you know what that's, that's what I call it. I was saying before the game, my three points were, you know, Patterson, the power plane, my third point was going to be coaching and I thought, you know, the messaging was so good for talk it to kind of like not toy with any line changes, not toy with roster changes. But in the back of my mind, I think, and it doesn't tend at well for him. This will be what he gets criticized for. You know what I mean? So it's like, he was just reinforcing what they've been talking about all season long and it was like, it's just so poetic that at the end of the day, that structure and stick into the same way you play, same style of play, never abandoning ship and just seeing it through ended up paying off. I just think that's just, you know, our season in a nutshell right there and I'm so proud of these guys and we fans, we've waited so long and it's just, this team has given us so far one of the best, funnest seasons and such a long time and going on around to get to watch at least seven more games of hockey, both least seven and calling for more post game shows and cheer the team on fellas. Keep your thoughts coming into our text inbox six fifty six fifty man. A lot of stuff on the text inbox as always. This one I'm going to text because my voice is so horse but that's the best one nothing game I've seen the connect play the the Canucks play in 40 years. Shane from Lethbridge. It's really great to see you the connects the Canucks grow he texted in connects connects clearly Siri getting them the Canucks growth in the series where they were able to keep grinding away at it tonight and they seem to get strong in the third button reality. I think they are staying the same effort level in the same commitment to their system and Nashville was getting a little bit more afraid at the edges because they were getting desperate and mentally just weren't as strong as the Canucks. So hopefully they can take that what they learn play against the Oilers. But do we have a Goldie controversy now a lot of people asking if if if she loves his rolling Demko comes back what do you do if he's rolling then I don't force them going to buy time. Yeah. So every win buys you a little bit of time when things what happened with Demko when he came back from injury he got hurt again I was kind of joking about you know you know you're losing your voice and you know but you still have it here and about Demko getting hurt but clearly his knee wasn't fully stable right for him to get hurt on a play like he got hurt on right. So the more time you buy for him to get ready the better it is I don't bring Demko back until you feel like you need him. It's similar to what we were talking about too with like Patterson it's like all he's struggling but every win was buying you a couple of days right can you get it back can you get it back if you were down one three they can like dude like team needs you right now but you were up three one okay so it bought you a couple more games and yeah he played better in game five they lose but it just buys you a couple more games and on a rewatch and look I didn't think he was fantastic tonight but who who is there on a game winning goal series winning goal right Lee is Patterson no no doubt so it just buy every one of these moments every time you win you're up in the series it buys you a little bit of time they win game one Demko that that decision gets pushed down because you're you're not in desperation mode no absolutely let's take a couple phone calls here before we get to Ian McIntyre let's go to details in a nine more details what's going on buddy how you feeling tonight man hey boys how are we doing this evening fantastic pumped up so here's a couple things give me a small leash I know Ian's on the other side so I'll be polite with that but look I'm 40 years old I was in my 20s the last time this team had a I counted it out at a thousand and 97 games since game number five of Boston so I just wanted before I go into my second part of this call this call is for everybody who is 35 years of age or older everybody who is 40 50 60 guys we have worked for this for over a decade okay I don't know what happens beyond here but to be honest honest this might be the most dangerous opponent we face until we look at the Eastern and I'm going to talk a big game okay give me a leash boys let me talk alright your boy details and I'm out here and I'm talking we might have a shot now with everything said I want to first of all give you guys some love exhibit live May 9th across the street from the arena it shoots to be game two I have tickets for all you guys I'm going to come give them to you I'm going to come to the game we're going to turn game two into an absolute circus down there because we got a whole lot of things happening but that even what this calls about I'm just making you known I got sixteen fresh bars for sports net for the NHL and for the Vancouver Canucks that big boys cannot can I get busy for just a second before you move to Ian McIntyre yeah get busy now let me explain quick before I spit flames details the nickname Nuts win six games I hit planes look I'm a land in a patch and rattle a few old cages wake the boys from a nap it's been a minute since we win in support of from the beginning see me on the couch green and Rolex Versace linen I ain't here to brag and boast boys let's raise a toast win around win a cup we leave it out here to coast it's another vibe entirely find an ascribe inside of me looking to make it intricate living it so I try to be the best that we can we never dead hello up three two we finish it they smack dead I know like anyone else I'm here to stack bread fellows shout out to Terrell my teammate go spin that black red yellow take a break from the long cutting the house hunting the team while in Gronen like it was grouse running buddy look go tell you spouse honey the Canucks are in round two playing with house money let's go thanks to the phone call details fresh bars too right so hyped up man artists getting their music going to I mean that's an incident yeah that's right inspirational after inspirational I will say though start with the hot stuff like you got stuff like that your take don't say your best take for the last man coming hot that was that was fantastic stuff we have so a lot of reaction on a text unbox this one here Aussie says that game winning goal reminded me of Daniel to Henry Henrich the double OT 2007 gaming games Dallas and I was actually triple OT that that game winner I was a triple OT a winner by Dan by Henrich sitting your mall texting in slow down connection the best one nothing game is 2011 yeah that's a good one that's also a really really good one and Eddie was mentioning that in my ear as well all right we are gonna get to I'm back in a second but we have to bring you some Canucks audio as well a huge victory for the Canucks getting on to round two beating the national predators and one player who's obviously a big hero in this game with the way he played was the netminder and here is JT Miller and Arthur Shilov's with let's do it first let's do JT Miller let's do Arthur Shilov's with Dan Murphy after the game fresh off getting a shout out in an elimination game Canucks move on to round number two Arthur is your third playoff start your second playoff win your first playoff shut out how fun was this experience it was a great feeling to play here and especially it's a way game must to win and it's like you know it's harder to win here the crowd is good here I mean they played a really good game it was hard to like do anything it managed to score like late third period goal and managed to like shut them down they get a late power play goes six on four we're gonna show you the craziness to transfer just talk about how you're trying to back there just like trying to find the puck you know like everyone's committed to just keep the puck out of the way I mean my Z grade block and then who caught it like put it like in a corner I didn't see you prove I like great job you know about everyone battle everyone competed so we got rewarded you got the news yesterday you'd be starting this game what did you feel about that type of confidence a coach has chosen I just think like it's a great opportunity for me you know they trust me more so I want to capitalize on these chances how much did the world championships in Latvia prepare you for a moment like this I think a lot you know because like crowd is similar like crowd is like really loud and it's like put some pressure in you especially we played at home which was like incredible so we more had their advantage than like this advantage so the great to play and I think that's like transfers here because you know there's like full stadium everyone's like so hyped for the playoffs well JT Miller might not have liked your shirt but I'm sure he'd wear your jersey with pride now yeah he's gonna wear it now every single day congrats thank you and that is Arthur she loves with Dan Murphy after a big Canucks victory here tonight he was fantastic between the pipes for the Vancouver Canucks now before we get to iMac and some other stuff here let's get to a couple text messages Austin and Langley mentioned this guys this is a deep cut but but please get this in on the podcast many years ago the great Jason Bocherd had a plan to throw Anders Nielson some easy games to juice the stats they could bring them go up he called the project cable box they trade him to Ottawa for a pick that pick Arthur she loves for a sixth rounder amazing and things work out sometimes and then pretty amazing ways a lot more reaction on the text in the box 650 650 deck says so pumped for the boys I'm a huge PD fan obviously wasn't great this series but I'm so glad to get he gets another series to rewrite his playoffs performance and you know you were kind of looking to this a bit earlier too here on the post game show just a few minutes ago for anybody who struggled the coach mentioned it now you get another chance mm-hmm like it's a next round nothing anything that happened in the first round doesn't matter anymore and if you're a Canucks fan all you should care about is do you win in the next round for more how do you perform against the set next opponent and it's a new chapter for these guys for right you bought yourself four more games I said last post game it's like getting a first down in football right of course you want to score the touchdown that's the ultimate goal but winning a series it gets you four more downs it gets you four more games and maybe it goes six maybe it goes seven maybe you're doing five whatever it is but you just bought yourself four more games it's a little breath of a little breath of air when you need it you're like all right all right we got a little bit more oxygen and stay survive right the season starts with 32 you're down to eight and you're one of those eight yeah absolutely and now you're at a point where you have this massive massive opportunity and if Patterson comes alive a couple other guys who had a tough first round come alive all of a sudden then hey you contributed all your way to making a deeper run of the postseason let's get another audio clip in here is JT Miller post game we mentioned JT Miller also spoke to Dan Murphy one-on-one here is number nine for the Canucks fresh off the victory and him also sacrificing his body in the dying seconds to keep the puck out to maintain the victory and here is JT Whitdan Murphy. Canucks get a one-nothing victory and now move on to round number two how chaotic was that final 30 seconds? I legit like a little blackout you know you're trying to work so hard to just you gotta you know you're gonna go up shots you gotta block them and I thought the guys had you know crazy desperation level there to see the puck not go in kind of chaotic like you said so I don't exactly remember but nice to be in the spot we're in. Pew Souter was frustrated all game had a number of chances so how happy were you to see there was him that gets the winning goal he just needed me to leave the ice and he'd be good I took one shift away from the night and he scored I told him I was unbelievable but I love the fire like you know that's gonna happen a guy's had a bunch of chances of the series the guy could have had he knows he could have had put a seam like ten goals this series so he stuck with it which is awesome and huge goal for our team what the cool ahead your goal tenured I know put the nice bag on his head and your missions but just the way you play some believable man I it's so happy for the kid to get you know come in here not knowing at all what this is gonna be like and to feel at least cool and calm and collected and step up on the time really matter you know we're just happy happy for him finally you know great regular season and now you're paid off with a first round win what does that feel like for this group yeah it's just another step you know it's just another step on our process we're gonna enjoy the hell out of this tonight and then we play in two days I guess I've just heard so you know get ready we know who we're playing we're gonna love that battle so you know we're gonna enjoy tonight we'll worry about the next round what happens but you know for us to win the first round after going through the process day to day this year it feels good congrats thanks Mark. That is J. T. Miller with Dan Murphy after the game Canucks win won nothing over the Edmonton Oilers now anybody who's on the foam boards that we don't get to after our show Josh Elliott Wolf's gonna be on back from Arizona he's back from Arizona broken arm and everything broken wrists and everything he's here he's gonna be partaking and taking your calls and your text messages so it's not going to vain you know I know everybody's really busy we'd love to get you guys on but only so much time here on the show especially with IMAX just around the corner as well but I want to work through a couple more text messages here 650 650 Shane from Lethbridge out of texting is really great to see that connects grow in this year connects grow in the series where they were able to just keep grinding away at it tonight and they were able to get it done in the very end so hopefully they can take what they learned here and apply it against the Oilers but would and mentions do we have a goalie controversy as well I'm not sure they do but I do think how the Canucks have gone about things and how they applied to the Edmonton Oilers and to your point it's going to be a completely different series against Edmonton like it's so different against Edmonton in terms of what you're going to be seeing opponent wise and how this is going to look in and what the game is going to feel like that's what Monday is going to be about right I'm sure you'll you'll do the same and I'm asking everybody else over the course of the weekend is going to be you know rewatching the Kings Oilers series if you're sick goes like us and checking out the tape checking out the tape or what the other zid versus the Kings and what might translate moving forward 100 percent Torgy texted and says my youngest is unfortunately learning a new word it starts with an F I'll have to explain to him tomorrow what a game and what a day round to Torgy texting in as well and a lot of excited moments and you know what the one thing I I I always get a kick out of when I watch is when I see kids go to games with their parents and if you're a parent and you're with your kid and you've told them about hey this is what it's like in the playoffs for you guys to get to enjoy this together and watch your team when a playoff series to watch the enjoyment for both of you having it's a pretty special moment and because it's been such a long time since the connects have won a playoff series like this you know it's a first for a lot of parents and their kids enjoying watching their favorite team when a playoff series so enjoy the moment it's fantastic and I'm just so happy for the entire fan base here tonight huge bonding moments right yeah it's massive it's massive keep your thoughts coming into the text inbox six fifty six fifty that James and Richmond said I'm ecstatic for she loves impossible draft picks and cap space for the damn goal return James and Richmond they're already getting ahead of you know the next goaltender it's tongue in cheek do they know Ian McIntyre is what to come on like oh let's start talking straight when Ian McIntyre's arriving the triple threat now you might be here just around the corner William and Langley text in us as talking said during his post game interview hopefully the series against the Oilers is not going to be a penalty fest or lose have a forty five percent power play ninety percent Canucks PK I mean it is you know a great PK versus a great power play coming up in the next round so I think that's a good point being made by the text or not something that the connects have to be really aware of if they're going up against that incredible power play that the Edmonton Oilers do have alright we can't we haven't been able to connect yet with Ian McIntyre so let's take a phone call here before we do that we can go to Ladner where we have Wayne on the line Wayne thanks for calling in what are your thoughts here tonight hey that's Wainer here love it first of all I'm going to reclaim your last call in West Tech's first of all details I'm going to reclaim my time for connection nation stop it secondly text message wise Elias Patterson that was a great text but you're playing like rain sterling pucks or grenades off your stick thirdly I have never thought I'd be so have so much fun at a watch party at Rogers Arena I was a game one it was amazing but the staff the fans everything that the Canucks did for this watch party was out of this world and I just have to give them props for that and it I never thought I'd be able to say yeah I went to a watch party but it was so if anyone has a chance to go to one of these watch parties go get it go go do it just go go just go go after it because it was incredible and I just have a lot of thanks for the whole Rogers Arena community for how good they were today don't be a Nicholas Jackson and go put the ball in it he just got he got his 11th goal man in rookie it's not too bad hey hey Wayne man thanks for the phone you know what that Rahim chirp was really good hey hey hey you know how you know you know what he did to me for so many years that you know what he did thanks guys hey you guys you're doing fantastic I really appreciate it guys take care always good hearing from you Wayne thanks for the phone call that is Wayne calling in from the watch party and honestly we have a lot of text about that too this one how much they enjoyed it what a game what a mighty good game was at the viewing party the best and echoing obviously the thoughts that Wayne had about being at that honestly like when you're at an event like that when I was like you know 18,000 fans salt and pepper reference yeah what a man what a good game I think so I'm not going to sing I can't I mean you can sing a little no I absolutely I'm not going to I'm like the worst a karaoke by the way I can't even do karaoke like some very same didn't we have a ban that was your thing wasn't it I don't know if Ben's mic is on I feel like you had a thing of like when we hire someone we got asked them like what the karaoke song is and and if it's good or not we would know it's like hey should we hire you or not it's an instant tell yeah well mine is like none you don't have a karaoke song I don't fire zero fire immediately immediately that's not great this one here says let's not kid ourselves at the end of the day Tyler Myers has saved us the game if you see the replay he got hit in nether regions yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah he was killed over afterwards he wanted to celebrate and he had to do the you know when they put it on the table you know put it on table that's what he did there tonight all right we got iMac let's let's bring in the man we call the triple threat we can't close out the show without him we're ecstatic to have him on you watch him on TV you read him on digital you're about to hear him on radio after the Canucks dispatch the Preds in the first round he is Ian McIntyre you know the Vancouver Canucks are worthy of music tonight I am not it was my my son Tom actually just called me daddy it's supposed to be on the radio there they said they're trying to read that's oh yeah oh yeah well see the thing is I use my phone as most reporters do know to record the press conferences and because I have this irrational fear well maybe it's not a rational like the rest of my fears but I have this fear that while my phone is sitting on the desk in front of Rick Talkett on live television that somebody's gonna phone me and it's gonna start to ring so I turned the ringer off and then I forget to turn the ringer on and anyways sorry guys but luckily I'm here and and you know you don't often lie sat I know you're a very honest person but you certainly could close the show without me but I'm glad you don't have to it's just not the same yeah it's just not the same well especially after the claims of playoff you know what I mean like it doesn't feel right yeah yes I mean we haven't had this to talk about a real playoff series since 2011 and I got to admit because I I was subjected to the Edmonton bubble I spent I lived five weeks of my life in the Edmonton Weston in the darkness of covid in the summer 2020 but I thought that that was really meaningful for the Canucks that tournament and you know in hindsight it was still you know big games and they won a couple of rounds but when you see real playoff hockey again with fans and the emotion and the rollercoaster that you ride it's that was nothing and even even the players you know like I remember Brock telling me in this series like that was nothing the bubble in 2020 compared to now and all these guys who had no real playoff experience now not only do they have six games worth they know what it takes to win a playoff round so that was that was a really remarkable two weeks for Vancouver with all the plot twists who would have thought of Arthur Silva's who would have thought of a hero like Pew Souter but it's a it's a lot more battle harden team now than what it was before they played the predators ah Arthur she loves he's the story out of this like what an unbelievable former it's not that it was like you know diving post a post and save under save but it's a shout out in a serious clinching game in a tense environment on the road he's a rookie ah what a story yeah well the the circumstances were unbelievable and she loves you know he was great tonight so was so was Sarah's but the last two games I didn't think you know she loves had to be brilliant but he was very solid and you know we won one and lost one before tonight but just the circumstances like after game one which feels like it was a month ago we were all talking about can the Canucks win without Thatcher Demko and then two games later oh now Casey dismiss injured too enter Arthur's Silva's 23 year old third string goalie who we knew mostly because he was a hero for Latvia at the World Championships a year ago and he comes in not knowing what he doesn't know but having this incredible composure and I think we've talked about this in the past and he he told me at one point you know when when he made it through that world championship tournament you remember Latvia was a co-host um and and he was not only a top goalie in that tournament he was the MVP and won that country it's first ever helped win that country it's first ever world championship man he said after that everything else is calm now I think probably like the other nine guys who started this series on the Canucks without any real Stanley Cup experience I think he realizes now no this is a little different this is probably at another level but the fact is he's he's been through incredible pressure filled situations and succeeded and I think that's that's in his memory bank and maybe it's in his DNA as well because he just has such calmness on the ice but he was you know he was a great story and I got to say this was a massive massive decision by Rick Talkett and Ian Clark to go with Silos like I really feel badly for Casey to Smith this isn't a case of precaution anymore this this was a performance decision that they thought that a better chance to win with Silos and Casey to Smith and remember Casey to Smith played his best game in months in game three before he came out of the lineup but you can't you obviously can't argue with the decision you know what faith they had in Silos and what a response he gave them for that faith absolutely and it's been one of those seasons I'm at where it you know things that usually don't go the Canucks way are kind of going their way to doing things that usually they don't really pull off and that's what made what's made this season so magical to this point and now you're on to round two to face the momentum to know others and players who have really reinvented themselves this year we spent a lot of time on the post game show already talking about Tyler Myers the shop lock at the end just what a monster he was this entire playoff series but you know no players really changed his standing with the organization given how far it had fallen down more than Brock Besser he had a hat trick in game for to allow the Canucks to come back and win that game against all odds to take a 3-1 series lead and then that pass we haven't really spoken too much about it the feed he makes a pew shooter on the game winning goal incredible pass behind the net I mean you talk about players who are reinventing themselves and claimed their their ceiling yet again Brock Besser came up massive on that play in the third period again tonight yeah and by the way because it's late night I'll tell you what Tyler Myers told me after when you know the scrum the herd moved on to graze elsewhere and there was lots of there was lots of feed tonight available in the connection and a lot of great stories by said to Tyler so you you did block that shot right because I hadn't seen a replay and he says yeah got me right in the balls and he was smiling about it yeah well that's why you got a couple so but he said it was just you know mayhem where you know it's six on four and I'm gonna get to you know Brock and some other guys but Tyler said you know in that situation you know it's six on four you don't have enough people to cover everyone so you're kind of in between guys trying to cover a guy in a half and he says you know there's gonna be space and when the puck popped out weak side to Nyquist he said it was just automatic you just get whatever you can in front of in front of the shot and I don't think he intended to put his testicles and harvest way but this is this is hockey and this is this is toughness right and look look at look at and I'm you know not being I'm not joking about that like factual toughness what yeah what you have to what you have to do and what you have to endure to to win a playoff series and let's look at pew suitor and then I promise I am gonna get to Brock but pew suitor here's this guy they sign as a free agent last summer without a whole lot of fanfare you know it was a guy they waited on because you know they didn't want to pay what pewce was asking early on in free agency and they kind of get him late in the summer it's like oh yeah well you know that might help maybe he'll be the third line center the fourth line center and he's a Swiss army knife pardon upon a guy from Switzerland but he's you know he does a lot of little things well but maybe nothing spectacular but you certainly don't when you think of pew suitor you don't think of toughness right he was in all the battles in this series he was going to the hard part of the ice every time and never never back down from a puck battle never shied away from the traffic in front and that's why he was getting all these scoring chances because he's playing with besser and biller you know and then game five he takes a puck in the mouth he gets twelve stitches goes to the dentist the next day doesn't have solid food since no steak he told me I think he was able to eat some fish and and there he is at the end of game six going back to the front of the net and it is a beautiful pass from Brock Besser and I think Besser to your point that like Besser's transformation in some ways it's even more impressive than JT Miller's because you know JT Miller always had you knew that he had everything you could possibly want in a play here and especially for a coach like talk it who demands so much but you know JT Miller was made for the battle right it's just about his getting harnesses emotions and can he channel everything in a positive way which he which he certainly has this season but Brock Besser was a guy we wondered okay he's got this skill set as a scorer who hasn't scored a whole lot but what else can he do like is this really going to be a target type of player and and Brock kind of reinvented himself like he rededicated himself to training over the summer gave up the silly WT league or whatever they call that River hockey thing in Minnesota to work on other things and we've seen him be one of the best two way players on this team all season a guy that was out regularly out late in games defending leads and scoring empty net goals and yeah I would say his his transformation is sort of representative of what the Canucks transformed to in a relatively short time it feel like it's been a long time it was what like 15 months ago yeah just over that Rick talk it was hired by Patrick Levine so it's remarkable the journey that this team has has made in a relatively short period of time but now gets harder you know Edmonton is is on a whole other level the Nashville the Canucks are still you know down there their star goalie they're still need to get more from Elias Patterson but you know what what an achievement to me it's it's kind of a house money now you know they had a 50 win regular season they validated that I actually winning a playoff round for the first time since 2011 everything from now on is a bonus but don't tell those guys because you know they believe that no matter what the circumstances are they believe that they they can beat Edmonton and we're gonna find out if they can 13 years in since since the last proper series win what do you think about in the process between then and now well a lot of hard road a lot of and you know let's remember from 2011 to 2015 this was still a really good hockey team you know 12 and 13 they underperformed a playoff time 14 was the torch here which just kind of went off the rails then 15 they were 100 point team under Willie Desjardt and should have beat the Calgary fight so they were really good but you know 15 to 20 was really hard because that was that was the actual rebuild that's when you know these guys were drafted and developed these core players that we talked so much about and it seemed like 2020 was their arrival you know that this team is credible again this team's competitive against can be a playoff team again and then I would say that the next three seasons and especially the next two and a half were among the most disappointing in the history of the franchise and sometimes honestly being disappointing is worse than being bad you know when when you fail to meet expectations and and you know that there's you could you're better than what you're showing and all those core players who were here in 2020 they owned it they knew that this was they should have been a better team than what they were the last three years even with all the turmoil and the the regime change and the the Boudreau fiasco and all that stuff and COVID they knew that they should be a better team and they always believed that they could be and those guys I think tonight are probably among the most satisfied players you know I talked to J.T. Miller on my own briefly late in the avales and he said you know not once and remember how many times he was supposed to be traded he said not once they ever want to leave Vancouver after he got here because he said you don't see these players in other places not every team has a Quinn Hughes a Thatcher Damco and an Iliast Pedersen and he staunchly believed fervently believed is the better word that this was going to be a winning team capable of special things and I don't know I mean this is special but it's also remember a franchise that has never won a Stanley Cup so you know winning a playoff round feels really special you need to do a lot more than that if you're actually going to win a Stanley Cup but it's a group that should still be getting better and that's one of the most encouraging things about this whole thing no matter what we saw from the Canucks this year the players who drive this team who are going to carry this team should still be getting better when the players that didn't have the series they had hoped were they have a clean slate for round two and anything that happened around one doesn't matter as long as you come through in round two and that's the beauty of playoff hockey and Ian can't wait to talk about playoff hockey in the round two when the Canucks play the Edmonton Oilers will be talking on the post game show we'll see you at the rink looks to be Tuesday but we'll know for sure pretty soon here we get four more with Ian at least four more hopefully even more than that hopefully a lot more than that yeah no question but hey Ian get back home from Nashville safely we appreciate your time as always can we to read your latest after a serious clinching victory in Nashville against the press tonight good night fellas wish me luck I still got a thousand words ahead of me here good luck well you'll kill it as always I hope so see you guys you got it thank you that's Ian McIntyre and as this person said you absolutely need to have iMac on every day especially today and this one says iMac is a poet order and scholar yeah well you know a couple of rubes like us we need that Pulitzer prize level conversation for me and McIntyre it was a nice bow on it in the end right all right listen but okay we're done for the evening it's been fantastic chatting with you guys but the show's not over we have the show goes on with Josh Elia Wolf we're gonna be leaving Josh Elia Wolf is coming over to take over but keep your text coming in keep your phone calls coming in he'll be taking your calls your text messages playing tons of audio that we haven't got to yet this evening a lot to come here on the evening after a huge Canucks series winning victory over the Nashville Predators pew suit are getting the game winning goal archer she loves getting the shutout and whatever performance bick great stuff as always man a Monday show will be fun recapping this and looking forward Edmonton 100% can't wait all right he's on the people's show I'm back on Canucks Central on Monday as well more is coming up next fast Eddie Gregory and Ben Basser and great stuff producing the show they'll be hanging out here as well Josh is next thank you for listening stay tuned this has been the Canucks Central Post game show presented by the number five orange on the home of your Canucks sports net 650.
