This is AP News, I'm Rita Folle. Millions of Americans are wrestling with some fierce weather. At least one person is known dead, the AP's Donna Warder with the latest. One tornado ripped through the town of Barnsdale, Oklahoma, just north of Tulsa Monday night. Roger Edwards, lead forecaster of the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, says From Monday to early Tuesday, they received 15 reports of tornadoes throughout the Midwest. "Kansas and western Missouri are in the clear, but eastern Oklahoma, southern Oklahoma, and I'd say central and eastern Missouri still have a threat for severe wind, tornadoes and hail." The storms began Monday with gusty winds and rain, but at night, tornadoes began hitting northern Oklahoma. Two areas hit, sulfur and Holdenville are still recovering from a deadly tornado late last month. In Kansas, some areas received hail the size of an apple. I'm Donna Warder. Another Americans in trouble in Russia, the AP's Karen Shamas. An American man has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for apparently breaking into a Russian children's library. News reports have said that William Nissam, an American English-language tutor, was arrested in Moscow on hooliganism charges. Nissam was found in the library intoxicated after breaking a window to gain entry. He was in Russia on a six-month tourist visa, staying with acquaintances and working as an English instructor according to the reports. The arrest comes at a time of heightened tension between Russia and the U.S. centering on the war in Ukraine. I'm Karen Shamas. Israel has seized control of Gaza's Rafa border crossing. Israel made its move hours after Hamas said it accepted a ceasefire proposal. But Israel says the deal did not meet its core demands. Another day in court today for Donald Trump in his hush money trial in New York, this is AP News. For the first time, researchers have identified a genetic form of late-in-life Alzheimer's disease, the AP's Lisa Dwyer. A gene called APOE4 has long been considered a key risk factor for Alzheimer's. New research says if people inherit two copies of that gene, it's not just risk. It appears to be the underlying cause. About 15 percent of Alzheimer's patients are thought to carry the gene pair. Most cases of Alzheimer's occur after age 65. But this research suggests that those with the gene pair can begin symptoms 7 to 10 years sooner. I'm Lisa Dwyer. A knife attack at a hospital in China killed two people this morning and injured 21 others. A video shows a man being taken away by police, no motive given for the attack.
