AP News, I'm at Donahue diplomacy and military brinksmanship on display in the Middle East. Israel is edging closer to an offensive in Rafa. The AP's Sagar Magani is at the White House. In the morning, Israel ordered an evacuation from parts of Rafa, signaling an imminent invasion. Soon after, Hamas abruptly announced it accepted an Egyptian and Qatari ceasefire proposal, which Israel says it's reviewing and will further discuss, but will also keep operating in Gaza at the same time. After its war cabinet approved, Rafa operation Israeli jets started strikes. That all came after White House spokesman John Kirby said President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spent a half hour on the phone. "And the president was consistent again this morning that we don't support ground operations in Rafa." The developments leave a glimmer of hope for a deal to at least pause the fighting and free Hamas hostages. "Hopefully it can lead to those hostages getting out real soon with their families." Sagar Magani at the White House. Donald Trump's hush money trial in New York. The former president was fined $1,000 for violating a gag order. The AP's Michael Sisak reports Judge Juan Mershan threatened jail time if it happens again. His first explicit warning to date said that it is clear the legal maximum fine allowed of $1,000 per violation isn't working. The judge said to Trump, "The last thing I want to do is put you in jail." Jurors heard for the first time how and why Michael Cohen's reimbursement for payment to Stormy Daniels was entered as a legal expense. A bill is passed in Colorado to overhaul oversight of funeral homes in the state. It follows a series of incidents in Colorado, including sold body parts, fake ashes, and the discovery of 190 decaying bodies. Stocks finished higher. The Dow up 176 points. This is AP News. A Boeing NASA Space Launch is set for tonight in Florida. "After years of struggling Boeing will launch astronauts into space, Starliner's debut test flight without a crew in 2019 ended up in the wrong orbit and failed to reach the space station. That forced Boeing to repeat the demo before astronauts could fly. Following more reviews last year, the company had to fix the capsule's parachutes and yank out a mile of flammable tape. The launch is set for 10.34 p.m. Eastern Time. I'm Hyup and Joanna. Civil rights leader Daisy Bates and Johnny Cash will replace the Arkansas statues at the U.S. Capitol. Former Governor Asa Hutchinson says they reflect the state's heritage. "From music to changes to leadership in the civil rights era. And whenever you think about Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash, the man in black, reflects the common people." The Bates statue will be installed this week. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
