AP News, I'm Ed Donoughy. A spokesman for the Israeli military says it has the weapons it needs for any operation in Rafa. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will stand alone if it has to. After President Biden said the U.S. would not provide offensive weapons for Israel's long-promised assault on Rafa. The AP's Sagar Magani has more on U.S. reaction. The president told CNN the kinds of bombs the U.S. has given Israel have already killed civilians in Gaza and while he is committed to helping Israel defend itself against Hamas. He does not want certain categories of American weapons used in a particular type of operation in a particular place. National Security spokesman John Kirby says the president is not walking away from Israel, but Bradley Bowman at the foundation for the defense of democracy says he essentially is. Former movie executive Harvey Weinstein will stay in prison in New York while he awaits a retrial for rape. The AP's Margie Zara Letter reports California wants to extradite him to serve a sentence there. Harvey Weinstein denied consent for extradition to California during a hearing in New York Thursday. A lawyer, Diana Fabi-Samson tells reporters California first needs to produce a warrant signed by the governor. They are not in a position to extradite Mr. Weinstein right now because they have not done what they need to do. Weinstein will be retried for rape after his 2020 conviction in New York was dismissed. California had requested Weinstein be transferred there to serve a 16-year sentence for a separate rape conviction in Los Angeles. I'm Archie Zara Letter.
