"A.K. News, anything up is wrong." Speaking with reporters, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says the United States wants to see Israel protect civilians while conducting operations. "There have been far too many civilian casualties that far. We would like to see that trend change, so that's really our focus in terms of how long it takes and when that happens, that will be determined by the Israelis." The U.S. is announcing more military aid for Ukraine as Russian troops advance in the country's northeast. AP correspondent Sagar Meghani has more. The $400 million package comes amid what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday is a really difficult situation in the east. "Atting with more weapons will be able to stop them. The package includes rocket systems, Patriot missiles, artillery rounds, and armored vehicles, among other things." "And all of those will be useful to them as they try to defend against Russian offensive moves." White House National Security spokesman John Kirby notes the weapons are coming from existing U.S. stocks, so they can get to the war front faster. It's the third aid package since Congress passed funding for Ukraine three weeks ago. Sagar Meghani, Washington.
