This is AP News, I'm Rita Folle. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken popped up in Key, Ukraine this morning. He is on an unannounced mission trying to reassure Ukraine that it has American support as it battles Russia. White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said yesterday that he and top Pentagon officials had just talked with their Ukraine counterparts. It was a detailed conversation about the situation on the front, about the capabilities that they are most in need of, and a real triage effort to say, "Get us this stuff this fast so that we can be in a position to effectively defend against the Russian on-site." National Security adviser Jake Sullivan, Russian President Putin will visit China this week for two days, beginning Thursday. Here in the U.S., Michael Cohen returns to the witness stand today in Donald Trump's hush money trial. Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen told jurors Monday about the $130,000 payment he made to Stormy Daniels in 2016 so that she would stay quiet about what she says was a sexual encounter with Trump, which he denies. Cohen testifying that Trump told him if the news got out during the election, women would hate him, and that the story was about to get out in the Daily Mail and she had to be paid. Cohen says Trump told him he'd be paid back. Prosecutors say Trump paid Cohen back, labeled it legal expenses to cover up the hush money deal. Trump denying those charges. At Court in Manhattan, I'm Julie Walker. The UN says more than half a million Palestinians have been displaced in the past few days by Israeli military operations in southern and northern Gaza. At least 14 people are dead in Mumbai, India, where a big billboard collapsed right onto people during heavy rain and thunderstorms. Here at home, there could be fierce thunderstorms in parts of Florida and Georgia. This is AP News. Should a firm backed by China own land near a US nuclear missile base? President Biden doesn't think so. The AP's Sagar McGonny president Biden is blocking a Chinese backed cryptocurrency mining firm from owning land near a US nuclear missile base. The order forces the divestment of property near Wyoming's Warren Air Force Base, one of three housing America's ground-based nuclear missiles. The move was made in conjunction with a little-known federal agency that investigates corporate deals for national security concerns. While the order is vague on the actual concerns, the Treasury Department notes there are issues with foreign-sourced equipment potentially capable of spying, which presents a significant national security risk.
