AP News, I'm Pea Pangewani. France's government rushed hundreds of police reinforcements to the French-Pacific territory of New Caledonia and considered imposing an emergency to curb violence that has killed four people on the island. Slovakia's Prime Minister remains in life-threatening condition after being wounded in a shooting today. President Biden and Donald Trump have agreed on one thing, holding a pair of campaign debates. Both men say they've accepted CNN's invitation to debate June 27 in battleground Georgia. It was a quick agreement and came after the president said he would not take part in fall debates sponsored by the nonpartisan commission that's organized them for decades. Instead, his campaign proposed a media outlet directly organized the debates. The president took to social media to challenge Trump to show up. Let's pick the dates down. I hear you're free on Wednesdays. A dig at Trump's Hush Money trial, which usually takes Wednesdays off. Trump says he is ready and willing to debate, though the two sides appear far apart on key details and ground rules. Sagar Magony, Washington. Juris in Donald Trump's Hush Money trial are getting a front row seat to history. The jury in Donald Trump's Hush Money case sees evidence and hears witness testimony to decide whether the former president is guilty of a scheme to buy and bury see me stories that might have damaged his 2016 presidential campaign, but jurors don't witness Trump enter or exit the courtroom. He's there before they are seated. They don't hear his hallway statements and are not supposed to be following or researching trial coverage outside of court. They're also not with an earshot of Hush sidebars when attorneys speak with the judge about sensitive topics. All in effort to make sure the defendant, Trump gets a fair trial. Julie Walker, New York. This is AP News. Thousands of women are accessing abortion medications each month. By the end of 2023, about 8,000 women a month were receiving abortion pills by mail in states with abortion bans or laws that limit their prescription by telemedicine. That's according to a survey #weekcount by the abortion rights group Society for Family Planning. The survey shows that medical providers in states with laws that protect them from prosecution were writing prescriptions that covered about one in 10 abortions nationally. It's the first time a number has been put on how often the medical system workaround is being used. Use of medication is one reason that total abortion numbers have increased, even after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade in 2022. Drexel University law professor David Cohen says the findings are not surprising. James Bob Jr., an attorney with the National Right to Life Committee, says the law where the abortion takes place should apply the way it does with other laws, but the issue has not yet been tested in court.
