AP News. I'm Ben Thomas. At Donald Trump's hush money trial, Michael Cohen testified against his old boss for a second day. Julie Walker's been at the court for us. Trump walked out of court Tuesday saying his legal team was triumphant. We had a very good day. I think we're exposing this scam for what it is. Trump flanked by Republican heavy hitters. House Speaker Mike Johnson had been there in the morning but did not stay. Meanwhile, under cross-exam, one of Trump's lawyers tried to paint a picture of Michael Cohen, his former lawyer and fixer as a man who once worshipped Trump, then turned on him, even calling him a cheetah dusted cartoon character. The former president sat in court oftentimes with his eyes closed, not really reacting, but at times whispering things to his legal team. The trial is off Wednesday. Cohen is back on the witness stand Thursday and then Friday they're off again for Trump's youngest son Barron's high school graduation. At Criminal Court in Manhattan, I'm Julie Walker. In Israel, events marking Independence Day have been muted this year and the shadow of the war in Gaza. Tomorrow, Palestinians will mark the 76th year of their mass expulsion from what is now Israel. The UN says more than half a million Palestinians have been displaced by the latest Israeli military operations in Gaza. President Biden is imposing new tariffs on Chinese products, including electric vehicles, complaining about China's government subsidies. The fact is, America workers can't outwork and out could beat anyone. As long as the competition is fair, but for too long, it hasn't been fair. A sharp increase in wholesale prices last month, the Labor Department's producer price index climbing 0.5% from March, year over year, prices were up 2.2%. And damaging storms continue to blast through several states in the South, a Louisiana woman whose nine months pregnant was killed by a tree falling on her home last night. Florida and parts of South Georgia have again been under the threat of severe weather today. This is AP News. The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a bus carrying farm workers this morning, killing eight on charges of DUI manslaughter. And investigators say the cargo ship that caused Baltimore's bridge collapse suffered a power failure hours before leaving port. Second McGonney has the latest. The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report says the dolly had an electrical blackout about 10 hours before leaving the port of Baltimore. Shortly after departing, it lost power again and hit one of the key bridges supporting columns, leading to the bridges collapse within seconds. A full report will likely take more than a year. The FBI is also conducting a criminal probe into the circumstances before the bridges collapse, which killed six workers who were on the bridge, Sagar or McGonney, Washington.
