AP News. I'm Jackie Quinn. Former President Donald Trump is back in court today in New York. His lawyers are trying to poke holes in the testimony of key witness Michael Cohen in Trump's hush money trial. The former president says he did not break any laws. They have more police and more assistant DAs and DAs. I've never seen anything like it over what everybody remembers, which everybody said there's no crime here. Defense attorney Todd Blanche just told Cohen not to make a speech when Trump's former lawyer tried to explain why he pleaded guilty to certain crimes. Republican House leaders are criticizing the White House and Attorney General Merrick Garland for their refusal to make public a special counsel interview with President Biden in his classified documents case. There's a new record high on Wall Street today for the first time. The Dow Jones industrial average crossed over the 40,000 mark. The Dow's currently up about 32 points. Jobless claims fell last week by 10,000. Some 222,000 new unemployment applications were filed. The United Nations top court has opened hearings on the Israeli military's incursion into Rafa. Chicago police have cleared a pro-Palestinian encampment at DuPaul University. Police patrol chief John Heine on WLS TV. "No confrontations. There was no resistance. Two arrests were made outside of the encampment for obstruction of traffic." An autopsy report obtained by the Associated Press finds a Massachusetts teen taking part in the spicy chip challenge on social media died last year from ingesting a large amount of the chili pepper extract capsaicin. But the report also finds the 10th grader had a congenital heart defect. This is AP News. A professional model from Hawaii is stepping into the role of Miss USA. Miss Hawaii has been crowned as the new Miss USA after the previous winner from Utah resigned citing mental health concerns. "I always say it doesn't matter how long or short you're in charge of your own success. So I'm ready to get to work." Savannah Gankowitz, who will hold the title until August, is from Maui. And during the contest featured a banyan tree emerging from flames for her costume highlighting her state. She tells Hawaii News now she wants to use her platform to help victims of the deadly wildfires in Lahaina. "It's been over nine months and I feel like this is putting a spotlight back on the Lahaina fires." I'm Jennifer King. An Associated Press investigation into prison labor finds inmates who are hurt or killed on the job are often denied rights and protections.
