AP News, I'm Kraya from Joining. A barge hit a bridge in Galveston, Texas today, spilling oil into surrounding waters and closing the only road to a small island. Officials in Galveston say they did not have immediate information on damage to the bridge or if there were any injuries. Aerial video showed portions of an auto-service rail line that runs parallel to the bridge on top of the barge. AP correspondent Deep Dehajagla reports on the ongoing celebrity block out over the war in Gaza. "Some social media users are calling for a block out of celebrities and influencers on social media platforms. They are condemning the celebrities for not speaking out enough for the suffering that's going on in the ground in Gaza. The boycott or the block out started roughly about a week ago in the wake of the Met dehajagla last Monday, the contrast between the opulence and the fabulousness of the celebrities and the Israeli government starting their military operation in Rafa really raised a lot of concern and outrage. What you're seeing now is that people are choosing to block celebrities because they think they need to hear more from. It's been a range of celebrities, pretty much any celebrity you can think of probably has somebody blocking them, both in the US as well as in other countries around the world as more people have gotten involved. It's along the lines with a lot of the protests we've been seeing, like the campus protests that have been taking place over the last month." At a news conference, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says it's vital for Congress to invest now in artificial intelligence and ways to put safeguards around technology. "Because AI is so complex and so rapidly evolving and touching every aspect of society. We just couldn't sit on the sidelines or wait several years to see what might happen because it keeps evolving. Humility, because this is so difficult." This is AP News. Slovakia's president calls the shooting of the prime minister an attack on democracy. AP correspondent Charles de Ladezma reports, "Slavakia's president says an attempt to assassinate the country's prime minister is an attack on democracy. Zizana Caputova, a political rival of PM Robert Ficco, said in a televised statement, "A physical attack on the prime minister is first of all an attack on a person. But it's also an attack on democracy. Any violence is unacceptable. The hateful rhetoric we've been witnessing in society leads to hateful action," she says. "Please, let's stop it," Caputova says the shooter was arrested but gave no details about him. I'm Charles de Ladezma. The French government has announced it will impose a state of emergency in the French Pacific territory of New Caledonia for at least 12 days due to violent and deadly unrest that has left four people dead.
