AP News, I'm Ben Thomas, another day of cross examination of former attorney Michael Cohen at Donald Trump's Hush Money Trial in New York. The AP's Michelle Price. Donald Trump's attorneys were much more aggressive in questioning him than they had been earlier in the trial. They sought to undercut some of his testimony from earlier in the week. Their performance, which is much more aggressive, is not only important for the jury, but it's something that's important to their client. Donald Trump is known as someone who likes his attorneys to be tough and bold-og-ish, and that's the kind of performance they showed in court. Court is scheduled off on Friday. Donald Trump is expected to attend his son's graduation. They're expected to be back in court on Monday, and Michael Cohen is expected to be back on the stand. The White House has blocked release of an audio recording of President Biden's interview with a special counsel about his handling of classified documents. The White House says Republicans want to chop it up and use it for political purposes. GOP lawmakers are moving to hold Attorney General Merritt Garland in contempt of Congress. The House has passed a bill aimed at forcing delivery of a shipment of bombs to Israel that the Biden administration had put on hold. That was to discourage Israel from its offensive on Rafa. The measure appears to have little chance on the Senate. Meantime, the Pentagon says humanitarian aid should soon begin flowing into Gaza over a new peer anchored to the beach. In sports news, Graham Eggars has the opening round of the PGA Championship. The informed Zannah Schofle posted a tournament record 62 to take the first roundly to the PGA Championship. His stunning bogey-free run featured nine birdies and put in three clear of Sahith Tagala and Tony Thienau. Rory McElroy, who beat Schofle just last week, also started strongly and is just four back at five under after a 66. Defending champion Brooks Kepka finished strongly for a four under 67. And the world number one, Scotty Schofler, celebrated his return to golf after the birth of his son by making an eagle to at the very first hole, that on his way to an opening round 67. I'm Graham Eggars. This is AP News. The Justice Department's move to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule 1 drug, alongside heroin and LSD, to Schedule 3, like anabolic steroids. This is mindy metal. President Biden announcing the Justice Department has begun the formal steps to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug. It's an important move toward reversing long-standing inequities. The proposed rule has been sent to the Federal Register, acknowledging there are medical uses for pot, and it has less potential for abuse than opioids and other drugs. Today's announcement builds on the work we've already done to part in a record number of federal offenses for simple possession of marijuana and as is the action we've taken to live barriers to housing, employment, small business loans and so much more. The proposal does not legalize the recreational use in states that don't allow it. The Drug Enforcement Administration will be taking public comment. So the quarterly projections are in the red area there, and these numbers I guess should be higher. [MUSIC PLAYING]
