This is AP News. I'm Rita Falle. Iran's president dead after his helicopter crashed in foggy weather. Several others on that chopper found dead too. The AP's done a water. Rescuers found the helicopter that was carrying Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, the country's foreign minister, and other officials that apparently crashed in mountains in northwest Iran. The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society says rescuers saw the helicopter from a distance of one and a quarter miles and saw no signs of life. I'm Donna Warder. Iran's just named an acting president. The AP's Charles D'Aledesma has that. Iran's first vice president, Mohammed Mokbar, has been appointed president of the Islamic Republic. After the death of President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in the country's northwest, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made the announcement of Mokbar's appointment on Monday in a condonance message she shared for Raisi's death. The 68-year-old Mokbar has largely been in the shadows compared to other politicians in Iran's Shiite theocracy. I'm Charles D'Aledesma. In Israel, war cabinet member Benny Gantz wants to see a post-war plan for Gaza, and he's threatening to leave the government if a plan isn't created by June 8th.
