(dramatic music) - AP News, good morning. I'm Egg Dolly. - The defense is rested in New York and former President Donald Trump's hush money trial. Prosecutors can call rebuttal witnesses before closing arguments. The AP's Julie Walker is in New York. - Entering court with a large entourage, including actor Joe Piscopo, son Don Trump Jr., former acting attorney general Matt Whitaker and former Florida AG Pambondi, Donald Trump criticizing the case. - There's no crime. It's a kangaroo court. There's never been anything like this that I've ever seen. Now I have two other trials that were kangaroo courts also. - His team had asked for a dismissal yesterday. The judge said he'd rule later. Meanwhile, a witness who angered the judge was back on the stand for the defense. lawyer Robert Costello testifying about his interactions with Michael Cohen. Then Trump's attorneys resting their case without the former president taking the stand in his own defense. He's pled not guilty to charges of falsifying business records to cover hush money payments. The judge wants closing arguments next Tuesday. At Criminal Court in Manhattan, I'm Julie Walker. - One man has died after a Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean. The airline says the plane descended 6,000 feet in a span of about three minutes. Israeli officials seized a camera and broadcasting equipment from the Associated Press. The AP Shelley Adler has the story. - Officials in Israel have accused the AP of violating a new media law by providing images to Al Jazeera. The Qatari satellite channel is among thousands of clients that receive live video feeds from the AP and other news organizations. The AP denounced the move saying, quote, "The Associated Press decries in the strongest terms "the action of the Israeli government "to shut down our longstanding live feed "showing a view into Gaza." I'm Shelley Adler. - Police broke up a pro-Palestinian encampment today at the University of Michigan. This is AP News. - I'm Seth Zutel and this is Markets in a Minute. Stocks are holding relatively steady near their record levels as Wall Street seems headed for another quiet day. The S&P 500 was a little changed in the first hour of trading Tuesday. The Dow edged up 53 points. That's about 1/10 of a percent. The NASDAQ composite was off 1/10 of a percent. Palo Alto Networks fell about 4% after the company's forecast for future results felt flat. Exercise equipment maker Peloton dropped 15% after announcing a wide-ranging refinancing plan. Treasury yields moved lower in the bond market. The yield on the tenure treasury note fell to 4.41%. Markets were mostly lower in Europe and Asia. Seth Zutel, New York. - Macy's, top expectations for the first quarter, but sales and profits fell. As higher cost and other financial challenges had customers pulling back on spending, Macy's is accelerating the expansion of its new small format stores And closing underperforming stores.
