This is AP News. I'm Rita Falle. Singapore Airlines says one person has died and others are injured after a London to Singapore flight hit severe turbulence. The flight from London's Heathrow Airport was diverted to Bangkok. Here at home, a warning of severe thunderstorms across parts of the Midwest today and the Upper Great Lakes region, too. There could be tornadoes, fierce winds and large hails, say forecasters. The National Weather Service is Bob Orvek. It looks like it's going to be pretty active anywhere from Wisconsin, South Road through Southern Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, Illinois, into Missouri. A lot of thunderstorm activity possible across those areas. The best chance for severe weather is going to be in the form of high winds and hail, but there's also a chance of tornadoes across the same area. There was a storm of another kind of Donald Trump's hush money trial yesterday. The AP's Julie Walker. Donald Trump's lawyers pressed the judge overseeing his hush money trial to stop the case from going to the jury, which could get it next week and throw out the charges. The judge reserving his decision. The defense request came yesterday after the prosecution rested its last witness, Michael Cohen, who said he had no doubt Trump okayed the hush money payments as Stormy Daniels. Also yesterday, the judge briefly kicking reporters out of the courtroom after admonishing defense witness Bob Costello for his behavior on the stand. The trial resumes today with more testimony from him. Trump's lawyers call Costello to the stand to attack the credibility of star witness Cohen at criminal court in Manhattan. I'm Julie Walker overseas now to Iran where mourners are gathering for days of funerals and processions for Iran's president, foreign minister and others killed in a helicopter crash. Should the leaders of Israel and its enemy Hamas be arrested, US allies France and Belgium are supporting a request for arrest warrants. The US does not saying it stands with Israel. This is AP news. Red Lobster just closed dozens of restaurants. One industry analyst says Red Lobster's been a slow moving train wreck for decades. Now 56 year old chain Red Lobster has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It said it will use the bankruptcy proceedings to simplify its operations, close restaurants and pursue a sale. As part of its filings, Red Lobster has entered into a so called stocking horse agreement, which means it plans to sell its business to an entity formed and controlled by its lenders. In recent years, Red Lobster has been struggling with increasing competition from fast casual chains like Chipotle and Panera, as well as rising lease and labor costs. It's all you can eat deals for shrimp and lobster has also become increasingly expensive. There are 700 Red Lobster locations worldwide. I'm Hia Panjuani.
