Nearly 100 state police officers are being sued by the families of 19 of the victims of the 2022 U Valley Elementary School shooting in Texas. 19 fourth graders and two teachers were killed. Attorney Josh Koskoff talked about the police response. It must have been a massive adversary of great numbers and great strength. But it wasn't. It was a kid. It was an adolescent. Officers in U Valley waited more than 70 minutes before confronting the shooter. Norway, Ireland and Spain say they would recognize a Palestinian state. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan is worried. We certainly have seen a growing chorus of voices, including voices that had previously been in support of Israel, drifted in another direction. That is of concern to us because we do not believe that that contributes to Israel's long term security or vitality. High mortgage rates are putting a damper on spring home buying season. The National Association of Realtors says sales of existing homes drop nearly 2% in April. Sales were down all across the country with the biggest drop being in the Northeast. The interest rate on the benchmark 30 year fixed rate loan has increased five of the last six weeks and is now just over 7%. The median price of previously occupied homes increased to almost $408,000. That's the 10th straight month we increase and a record for April. The high prices are caused partly by a tight inventory of available homes. Homeowners have hesitated putting their houses on the market, partly because they don't want to give up existing mortgages at low interest rates and buy new homes at higher rates.
