Prsní implantáty mají miliony žen, po operaci očních víček jde o druhou nejčastější operaci v oboru plastické chirurgie. Stále více žen se však rozhoduje pro jejich vyjmutí. Mnohdy udávají, že je to zejména z důvodu, protože je trápí záněty nebo další zdravotní obtíže a příznaky (mj. bolesti kloubů, únava, zažívací problémy, oslabená imunita, záněty dutin, kašel), které jsou označované jako nemoc z prsních implantátů.
