This is AP News, I'm Rita Falle. There could be more tornadoes today. Thunderstorms, ferocious winds, flooding and hail forecast for Texas to the Dakotas in Minnesota today. And there could be tornadoes in the strongest storms, say forecasters. On just one day, Tuesday, there were reports of 21 tornadoes in Iowa, the AP's Jennifer King. Cities in Iowa say a powerful tornado killed at least five people and injured nearly three dozen. Most of the casualties were in the small town of Greenfield, where homes, cars and trees were destroyed. Strong wind knocked down a stage at a campaign rally in Mexico in Nuevo, Lyon. At least nine people were killed, more than 60 others injured. In Pakistan, the temperatures have gotten as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Doctors are treating hundreds of victims with heat stroke. Channels are blaming climate change. Here in the U.S. House Republicans want to hear from university leaders about those pro-Palestinian protesters on campus. The AP's Donna Warder. Scheduled to testify today at a hearing by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce are heads of Northwestern University Rutgers and University of California, Los Angeles. Lawmakers want to hear about the concessions that schools gave to pro-Palestinian protesters to end demonstrations and clear their encampments on their campuses, as well as allegations of anti-Semitism. This is the second human case of bird flu associated with an outbreak in dairy cows in the U.S. Officials say the risk of bird flu to the public remains low. But farm workers exposed to infected animals are at higher risk. The first case happened in late March when a farm worker in Texas was diagnosed. Since 2020, a bird flu virus has been spreading among more animal species, including dogs, cats, skunks, bears, and even seals and porpoises. I'm Ed Donahue.
