Ify News, I'm Ben Thomas. The new California law will allow doctors from Arizona to come to California to perform abortions. Jackie Quinn has details. California Governor Gavin Newsom in signing SB 233 says California stands ready to protect reproductive freedom. This temporary move is to circumvent the resurrection of an old Arizona law, which bans nearly all abortions in that state. Even though the ban is being repealed, it won't be lifted until later this year. Arizona doctors would have to apply to California's medical board. Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, nearly two dozen states are enforcing new bans on abortion. I'm Jackie Quinn. The Louisiana legislature has approved to build classifying two abortion pills, Miffett Pristone and Mrs. Prostall, as controlled dangerous substances. Others say it'll protect expectant mothers from coerced abortions. Numerous doctors, however, have said it'll make it harder to prescribe the medicines for other important reproductive health care needs. Ohio's Republican Governor Mike DeWine is calling a rare special session of the General Assembly next week to pass legislation ensuring that President Biden is on the state's 2024 ballot. Biden is hosting a state dinner for Kenyan President William Ruto tonight. Earlier, he thanked Ruto for the coming deployment of Kenyan police forces to Haiti to help quell gang violence there. In the Israeli military, it's completed a two-day operation in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Health Ministry says 12 Palestinians killed. This is AP News. Luger Donchich finished strong as the Mavericks beat the Timberwolves 108, 105, and game one of the Western Conference Finals. Donchich scored 15 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter and fueled an 8-0 run in the final three and a half minutes. I just said to myself, you know, we've got to win this game. I've got to be way better because three quarters, I didn't play good. So I just came in the fourth, get to my spot and lead the team to win. Dallas trailed 102-98 before the spurt. Kyrie Irving poured in 24 of his 30 points in the first half for the maps. Jaden McDaniel's had a team high 24 points from Minnesota, but Anthony Edwards and Carl Anthony Towns were shut down.
