Here's the millennial with the mic, Grace Curly. Welcome back everyone to The Grace Curly Show. I want to finish up with these Brian Higgins cuts. I want to go back to Robert De Niro just for a little bit because I really want to play that Caroline Levitt cut. But first, I have a few headlines I need to wrap up here, Jared. We mentioned this yesterday that it was a very scary stabbing at the AMC Theatre in Braintree, and we have more information now. So this is from the New York Post, Massachusetts stabbing spree suspect, Jared Ravisa threw shovel through neighbors window before he went on crazed attack. The man accused of knifing six people unprovoked in Massachusetts and reportedly killing his Connecticut roommate over the weekend went berserk over a dispute between his housemate and their neighbors ahead of the bloody spree. This is like a horror movie, and the guy, the person, the accused here, the offender, or what do they call the justice impacted individual. I think it's the proper way to put it now, looks like out of central casting for the scariest person that I saw on the news all weekend. He was in a stretcher being put into an ambulance, frightening looking. Jared Ravisa was apparently set off after two women called the cops on his roommate, an older man, identified by residents only as Bruce, who they accused of trespassing on their property while walking his dog in the deep river neighborhood. Ravisa allegedly chucked a shovel through the windows, the woman's window on Saturday. The woman called the cops again, but when officers showed up to question him, they were met with a grizzly scene at the home he and Bruce were renting through an Airbnb competitor. Bruce and his dog were found dead, but Ravisa was nowhere to be found. Then he went to the AMC brain tree before driving to a McDonald's in Plymouth, I know exactly where that McDonald's is, I think, and knifing a pair of workers leaving all the victims with non-life threatening injuries. So I'm reading the story, and then finally you get to the very, very end, and it says, you know, they interviewed a lot of the neighbors who said that Bruce, they thought, was an odd duck, but they would talk to him, and I think they thought he was, if I remember this correctly, he was mostly harmless. He'd walk around the neighborhood with his great poodle and sit on people's porches without an invitation. But Ravisa would rarely ever chat with neighbors. Last month he filed to legally change his name to Jared Love Jones. He would also occasionally post photos of himself wearing lip gloss, face glitter, and painted nails. One neighbor said while he mostly dressed as a man, he had painted his nails and occasionally wore a cut off t-shirts that showed his stomach. His legal troubles date back to at least April when he was arrested on Martha's Vineyard for allegedly attacking his father after suffering a mental breakdown. So just wanted to keep everyone posted on that because we did talk about that story yesterday, and it was a huge local story over the weekend. Now, let's get back to Brian Higgins here because I have a few more cuts to get to, and I have more thoughts on this testimony, which I really do think if I was on the jury, I would be very suspicious of this whole group of people, everybody who is at this bar. You have Jennifer McCabe, who's Googling, how long to die in snow. You have Brian Higgins, who's bringing old cell phones to the dumpster with cut up or destroyed SIM cards at a military base that he just happened to be cutting through. The coincidences never stop, and actually, Jared, you were just talking about the timing of this and how there's so many coincidences. What do they say about coincidences? It's God winking at you. I don't think these are coincidences. I think these are a lot of different incidents that all have to do with one another. But if you want to classify them as coincidences, this definitely falls under that category. This is, you know, he comes back to cross examining Higgins, and he starts asking him about his new phone and his new number that he got in September of 2022. Or maybe it was September of 2023. We'll find out cut 12. One more thing. With regards to the date that you changed phone numbers on your phone, you would agree with me. That was September 29th of 2022. When I actually changed the phone number, that's what I just asked. Yes. Yes. I also got a new phone. Yes. Okay. September 29th of 2022. You changed your phone number and got a new phone. And then September 30th, the next day you were served with the preservation order. Correct. I got the preservation order on the 30th. That's correct. I have two comments on that. One is, wow, what are the odds? You get your new phone and your new number, Tabula Rasa. You get a fresh slate the day before you get the order to preserve your phone and everything in it. Damn it. I wish you guys had come yesterday. I wish you had stopped by yesterday because I just, oh my gosh, had I known I was going to get this order. I would have put off, you know, Jared, I had on my calendar, drive to military base, destroy phone. But had I gotten this order a little bit earlier, you guys just miss me. We're like ships passing in the night. Oh, I feel really lousy about this. I feel. Oh, man. There's really no going back because even if you found the phone, the SIM card was destroyed. I don't remember how I destroyed it, but good luck with that. What are the odds? Slim to none is what I would say, that you destroy your phone the day before the preservation order comes out. Now, the other thing I want to say is, are you noticing how, forget the talk of the preservation order, the phone, are you noticing how he either does one of two things? He reframes the answer. Like he can't just answer yes or no. He has to reframe it. So if they say, did you destroy the phone? He has to say, I got rid of the phone. He has to. He's very picky about the way he wants this to come out, the way he wants it to appear to the jury. That's number one. And number two is he offers up extraneous detail. I think in an attempt to make himself seem more reliable. This is a tactic that a lot of liars use. It's like they can't just say, oh, I went to lunch. In order to convince you that they're not lying, I went to lunch and I ordered a salad of salmon. And the salmon was way too salty and I really didn't like it. And then I got a Coke, but the Coke was flat. I think there's something wrong with their soda machine. You're offering up all of this detail that we didn't ask you about in order to convince us further and you're doing the opposite. You're not convincing me more at all. Let's take the next cut because now we're going to get into the read text, cut 13. The text exchanges that you have with Karen Reed. You testified that you were embarrassed about them. I wasn't proud of them. I think your word was embarrassed. Correct. I can pause there again. He's doing it again. It's he has to put. He's like an editor. He has to put. This is like when I read the headlines in the New York Post and I get a little hot to try and I think that I know better than they do. I would have used the word this instead. I prefer freak out to panic. Nobody asked you. Were you embarrassed by them? Yes or no? You don't have to give us. If it's the source next to you, you want to look up a different word. I wasn't proud of them. So you were embarrassed by them. Why do you have to continue to put your little narrative twist on all of this? Keep going. A word was embarrassed. Correct. I can agree to that. That's fair. Well, you already testified to that, right? I believe that might have been a word I use. Yes. Five minutes ago, but so much has changed. I mean, think about how much has changed since the interview, wink, wink, nudge, nudge and how many of these witnesses now have totally new testimony than they did at that first interview. So five minutes ago, I mean, that was like five days ago, man. It's an interesting point that 617 brings up. A lot of phone providers will give you some type of a rebate or money off a new phone when you turn in your old life. They do rather than just, you know, throw it away in some random military base somewhere. Yeah, they will. They will give you a discount. And yeah, I don't know how much of a discount you get if you say, "I don't have the phone with me. I did throw it away in a dumpster, but I'm a loyal customer. I just don't think they give you anything off the new phone." But yeah, everybody does that. You trade in the old phone for the new phone. Everyone does that. You're just like everyone cuts up their SIM cards and finds military bases to dispose of their old cell phone. Sometimes I'll cut them up. Sometimes I'll break them. Jared, do you oftentimes... That's the kind of whimsy I live my life with. When you're going to upgrade your new phone, do you look at your wife and you say, "I'm between bringing it in to Verizon and upgrading and trading it in for a new one." And the other option is throwing it away in a dumpster at a military base somewhere nearby. I just haven't decided yet. Hey, honey, I'm cutting through the military base tonight. You get any SIM cards you want to throw away? Also, do you want to get Chick-fil-A on the way back? I'm all the way here. I mean, I might as well make a trip of it. Okay, so we've got one more. And this one actually really does... This one makes me cringe even harder than the text messages between him and Karen Reid. Let's take this last one. You didn't see anything on the side of the road, is that correct? Absolutely not, no. And what is it that you would have done had you seen anything or had you seen Mr. O'Keefe on the side of the road on January 20? I spent my whole life between being a firefighter, working in the profession that I work now, being a tactical medic. If I had saw a John O'Keefe on the side of the road, I would have done something to make a difference. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but please spare us the hero theatrics. Like, please, you have not covered yourself in glory during this, okay? You left the party because they were giving you beer, and you acted like that with some sort of great offense that there wasn't Jameson and Gingerail. You're all driving around late at night, bar hopping, drinking at all hours. Please spare us the monologue of like what you would have done. If that was me, I'm just saying, if that was me, they are lucky that was not me. Because if the circumstances were such as you have described them, but with me in them, that's a very different and scary outcome for those involved. If. Do you think it's fair to say, you know, this is Judge Jared, this is an impromptu Judge Jared, so he doesn't even have his robe on right now. And I do apologize for that. It's really, it's really impressive, Jared, that we have a lawyer as our producer and a judge, all in one. I wear many hats, I just wear many SIM cards, multi-talented. You've got a busy schedule. So my question for you is, I don't even remember now, I'm so there, oh, is it fair to say, would you qualify, would you describe Brian Higgins as a fake tough guy? Yes, yes, I would. I wouldn't have until that cut. Yeah, I mean, you figure, you know, I mean, like he said, he was a paramedic, he was a. Turtle boys, they're all hardos, like they all pose with their fists, you know. He worked for the ATF, which, you know, I mean, it's, again, it's a ruggedish job. You would think, but like listening to him now, yeah, I mean, it's just, yeah, fake tough guy alert. Yeah, the judge has ruled, you know, I was telling my mom over the weekend, something that makes me laugh. I said, every time Jared gives us his legal advice, he then will whisper into the microphone. And I told my mom that and she started laughing and she said, "Is Jared a lawyer?" And I said, "Oh, good God, no." Not that I know of. Six and seventh grade mock trial. That's what he credits all of his wisdom to. Okay, when we come back, we're gonna do the poll question, we're gonna get ready for two-way Tuesday. We have a lot more, but speaking of fake tough guys, we were just going on and on about the fake tough guy, Brian Higgins, a lot of fake tough guys in the news. You have Robert De Niro showing up outside of Trump's trial, the closing arguments are today, to make this pitch for Joe Biden. It was really random. He's out there. He doesn't really seem to know why he's there except for just to say some things about January six and democracy and kind of, you know, just read whatever they put in front of him. Every person I've been hearing from, whose opinions I really respect is saying this was a huge miscalculation, believe it or not, on the part of the Biden administration to send out Robert De Niro as some attempt to exploit the situation with Donald Trump. After, by the way, weeks and weeks and weeks of telling us this is nothing to do with politics. And, you know, they would not want, that's why they're doing this at the White House because they don't want it to appear as though it's political. They want it to appear as though, you know, it's important business that Joe Biden react to this verdict. It's so important that they trotted out 80-year-old Robert De Niro to give this half-assed address. And by the way, he's had a lot of performances in his day. This is not one of the good ones. This is not going to get him any sort of Oscar noms, I don't believe. We'll be right back. We'll talk more about it on the other side. I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me? The Grace Curly Show will be right back. This is the Grace Curly Show. I'm going to talk a little bit about it, I'm going to talk a little bit more about it. I'm going to talk a little bit about it. I'm going to talk a little bit about it. I'm going to talk a little bit about it. I'm going to talk a little bit about it. If he had done something like that in a state that has a much higher percentage, he might have had a much different result to his terroristic activities. I think people are waking up to the need of having to defend themselves. We are our own first responder. Simultaneously to that, Grace, we had two big court decisions come down in the last two weeks here in the Commonwealth that basically is putting an end to the suitability standard that police departments have used for so long to issue license to carry. In other words, if you weren't a prohibited person by law, a police chief who is the sole licensing authority for you to get your license to carry could still deny you your license to carry based on some thing in your past or where you live or who you're associated with or who your friends are or your family is, for whatever reason. Since the Bruin decision came down, which dealt with that, may issue standard, and some states passed laws like New York did and Massachusetts even did to bring their laws in line with Bruin. But guess what? They held on to this suitability standard, which is unconstitutional under the Bruin mandate, and we had a case in Fall River and a case in Holyoke come down in the last two weeks where a judge reversed a decision by a local chief that denied a person their license to carry based on suitability. So the law is starting to recognize people's inherent, most basic right to keep in bear arms and people who want that to exercise that right in order to defend themselves because it is a very efficient tool for that that have long been denied based on decisions and discretionary licensing issuance are now going to see that there's legal precedent in the state of Massachusetts, so things are looking up. But it's a hard fought, slow process to get our rights restored to us in the state, unfortunately, but a lot of people are waking up to it, minorities included. The number is 844-542-42. Something you just said there, Toby, really stuck out to me. You were talking about how in Massachusetts there's only about 10% of people are gun owners, and I would love for you to explain to the audience how that is not typical in most cases and in most states, because I think that in here in Massachusetts we live in a little bit of a bubble and we think that it's such a rarity for someone to go through the process, but in some states it's very common, people walk around with guns and it doesn't make anyone feel like they're living in the Wild Wild West, it actually makes people feel a lot safer. So talk a little bit about the makeup in other states when it comes to gun owners versus non-gun owners. Yeah, well, something that is a natural outflow of how the percentage of gun owners in a particular state is that whenever you try to restrict a right and make it harder for people to exercise, they tend to just go to freedom, like a lot of people. We've had a mass exodus in the state in 1998, which was the last tranche of big-time gun control in the state. Prior to that we had 1.2 million gun owners in the state of Massachusetts. Right now we're hovering around 600,000. So our licensed gun owners have declined by half of what they were in 1998, the last time major legislation was passed. So now, you know, and unfortunately those aren't just people who are interested in exercising the right to keep in their arms. Chances are they were productive members of society where they, you know, held a job. They might have owned a house and raised their kids and they were the type of people and families that you wanted to have in your community. Not to mention they look out for their neighbor as most people who own a gun for self-defense reasons are also of the understanding that, you know, they might be called upon to use that in defense of somebody else. So having a good neighbor next to you that's armed that could come to your aid is a positive for society. But unfortunately when government unconstitutionally infringes upon that right, you know, far overreaching way, they don't even have the constitutional authority to do it, but yet they do it anyway because they're in power. So in my opinion, it's an abusive power, but they really make it hard and difficult for people to exercise that right. So you see a steady decline and we still see a mass exodus of about 1000 people a week leaving the state of Massachusetts for freer, greener grass on the other side of the fence. And, you know, we get people all the time that comment on any time I do some sort of legal or law update about the state of Massachusetts. I get all these comments from out of state people saying, oh, man, you get what you deserve and, you know, come to New Hampshire, come to Maine, come to Vermont, whatever, come to some other free state. And I understand the sentiment behind that, but for those of us who choose to stay and fight this tyrannical type of legislation, it's, you know, it's still, it's going to be, it's going to come to a city near you if you don't stay and fight where the fight is. And so that's why we choose to stay and fight. But I feel that a lot of people don't want to do that. They just, you know, would rather move to a free state. And I get that. I don't judge them for that. But on the other hand, it is not good for our society that fewer and fewer people are armed because armed society is a polite society. You know, people tend to be good neighbors if everybody's got guns. And that's the way it is, you know, but more importantly, you know, crime is reduced. The presence of guns, unlike the hoflophobic people in our state that believe just the mere presence of a gun makes us all less safe. Even though statistically that is 100% wrong, and places like Plano, Texas, the gun capital of the country have a very small crime problem, very low violent crime problem. Places like Kennesaw, Georgia, where it's a city ordinance that you must be armed unless you're a conscientious objector. They haven't had a murder since like the 70s, you know what I mean? It's like crime doesn't go to places where people are armed, it goes to where people are unsuspecting and usually disarmed because of government encumbrances upon enacting their right to keep in their arms. And we wouldn't put up with it for any other right. But some reason we do in the state of Massachusetts, but good people are starting to rise up. So that's good. Really well said, Toby. Let's go to Randy. You're next up with Toby Leary from Cape Gunworks. Go ahead, Randy. Yeah, this question is for Toby. I'm getting ready to move from Maine out west, and I've got 15 firearms. And I'm going to be driving on this move. What do I need to do as far as transportation of my firearms? The good news for you, Randy, is you're allowed safe passage through any state in the country, so you can just make sure your guns are unloaded and locked up. And then you can drive straight to where you're going. I mean, if you're going, if you're going to stop anywhere that is hostile to gun ownership, I would be careful. Like, you know, when you run the gauntlet from Maine through New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, all those states. But once you get into some freer states, so to speak, you can stop for lodging and whatnot. But I personally try not to stay anywhere that's very hostile to gun ownership with, even if I'm just traveling through. So you might want to plan accordingly. If you go to the USCCA's website, they have an interactive map of the entire country so you can see what states are hostile to gun ownership and others that aren't. And you can plan your trip accordingly. But I recommend just run the gauntlet through New England, get into some freer states, and then plan your hotel stays along the way. So, but you'll be good to go, but check out that map at USCCA.com. All right, thank you for the call, Randy. We also have a text message here from 781. Can you ask Toby Grace, "I own handguns, but I'm interested in hunting. I'm looking at rifles. What would Toby suggest any other tips would be appreciated?" Yeah, it depends what state you live in. If you're in Massachusetts, rifles only help if you're planning on hunting like coyotes during the day or something like that. You can't hunt deer in Massachusetts with a rifle, unfortunately. But if you're talking about big game, you're going to hunt in the northern states or maybe out west or something like that. Most people hunt with a bolt action rifle or a lever action rifle. In some cases, semi-automatic rifle, I tend to hunt with semi-automatic rifle. Not because I'm interested in a quicker follow-up shot, but just because I'm used to the platform, it reduces a little recoil. And I travel to other states with -- you can use suppressors in some states that you hunt in. So I like the semi-automatic platform for that reason, but I would stick with a pretty well-known big game caliber. Like 308, 30-odd-6, you'll always be able to find ammo for those. Six-five Creedmores become a very popular round lately. And as long as you've got some really good ammunition, the caliber isn't as important as shot placement. So I would really work on getting good accuracy at whatever distance you're playing on hunting and get some time behind the gun to get familiar with it. But really any modern well-made firearm in a hunting caliber will get the job done. Just about every manufacturer makes some good ammunition. Check out Fort Scott Munitions. They are a great ammunition, and that's what I hunt with as well as my concealed carry gun has that ammo in it as well. So I'd check those out, but great question. And also, Toby, 508 is wondering if you guys have any date nights at the range planned because he has a new girlfriend. She's not a gun owner, but he wants to introduce her to it. What a guy. I mean, nothing says I love you or I want to get to know you like wanting to go to date night at Cape Gun Works. So yes, every Friday night we have date night. It's very popular. You want to certainly get a reservation. You want to book that early because you don't want to get left out in the cold with your date. So go to our website at Cape Gun Works.com and click on Calendar and you can sign up for date night. We also have Ladies Night every other Thursday, which is always a big hit. And we have Couples LTC classes too, which is kind of cool. So if the husband and wife, neither of them are licensed, you can always do a Couples LTC class. But all that information is right there at Cape Gun Works.com. Awesome. And Toby, will you let people know where they can visit you in person? Give them the address for that and also where they can listen to you. Yeah, great. Thanks. So come on down to Cape Gun Works. We're in Hyannis, Massachusetts and summer's heating up. But it's always 70 degrees at Cape Gun Works on the range. If you want to shoot or take a class or shop or pro shop and got some fresh coffee every day from blackout coffee and you can check us out. We're at Cape gunworks and at RapidFire radio and you'll stay up to date with everything we got going on. Awesome. Thank you so much, Toby Leary. We know you're busy. We appreciate your time. We will be right back with Howie Karts. It don't go anywhere. This is The Grace Curly Show. You're listening to The Grace Curly Show. Welcome back, everyone, to The Grace Curly Show. It's time for The Car Crossover. I'm joined by Howie Car, who's had a busy day transcribing more of this testimony from Brian Higgins. We thought he was done. He was back. And now he was talking about the SIM card and the cell phone. I would say the magic SIM card and the magic cell phone. I got my left hand on my phone because I don't want to jump in around here and, you know, attack on one of the VIPs or maybe like jumping out the window. Howie, this explains all the butt dialing in can. They have magic phones that have minds of their own. Yeah, it's like a Bermuda triangle of cell phones down there. You know how on Friday you were talking about Brian Higgins? We all were. We were talking about the text messages. They were very cringe-worthy. You know, they kind of gave you like a second-hand embarrassment reading these text messages. But I think today's was a lot more important, discussing the fact that he went through the process of taking out a SIM card, destroying it, destroying a phone, tying it up in a bag and driving to a military base to get rid of it. How do you get out of that? You know, the thing is, I remember, you know, when I've lived in apartments, various places, you know, I thought, what am I going to do with this trash? It's kind of stinking up the place and I can't get rid of it for a couple of days. And then I look over and, like, when I lived near Harvard, I'd just like to say, look, God, just throw it in there. But there's a big sign up there. Have you ever seen those signs? This dumpster is to be used only by tenants and residents. People who have dumpsters on their property are very, very protective of said dumpsters. Right. And you have a neighbor who has a dumpster and they say, "Hey, we're moving. We have a dumpster in the driveway. Feel free to drop anything off that you want." Right. That's like jackpot. You start going over with all bags of crap. Yeah. But, you know, I mean, Brian Higgins just is going, going to that dumpster. He's cutting through the base. He's cutting. Where's he cutting through to? They have a two for one special on Jameson and Genja. Howdy cars coming up next. He's got more of this. Do not go anywhere. He's got a great show planned. I will see you all tomorrow. [Music]
