The judge overseeing Donald Trump's classified documents case in Florida denied prosecutors request to bar the former president from making public statements that could endanger law enforcement agents taking part in the prosecution. Judge Aileen Cannon said in her order prosecutors didn't give defense lawyers adequate time to discuss the request before it was filed. She denied the request without prejudice, meaning prosecutors could file again, strong storms with damaging winds and hail pummeled north Texas. Much of the country is recovering from severe weather, including tornadoes that killed at least 23 people over the Memorial Day weekend. Wayne State University in Detroit is suspending in-person classes and encouraging staff to work remotely to avoid any problems with a pro-Palestinian encampment that sprouted last week. Pope Francis is apologizing after reportedly using a vulgar term about gay men to stress the Catholic church's ban on gay priests. Francis's comments came in a closed-door meeting with Italian bishops on May 20th. Media quoted unnamed bishops in reporting that Francis "jokingly" used the term while underlining the Vatican's ban on allowing gay men to enter seminaries and be ordained priests. A Vatican spokesman says Francis was aware of the storm that erupted over his comments. The spokesman said the pope has made outreach a hallmark of his papacy, and has long insisted that there was room for everyone in the Catholic church.
