AP's Lisa Dwyer reports on how that might be changing. - Melinda French Gates has a long history of supporting the women's movement, but it's a renewed eye-popping $1 billion funding commitment that could finally change women's groups' long-running complaint that so little actually benefits women and girls. The women's at philanthropy institute at the Indiana University Lilly Family of Philanthropy has researched giving two women and girls since 2019 and found that while the overall amount has increased over the years, it has never exceeded 2% of overall charitable dollars.
