A.P. News. I'm Ed Donahue, jury deliberations have resumed in former President Donald Trump's Hush Money trial. Earlier, the A.P.'s Julie Walker reports to court stenographers re-rent testimony for jurors. One playing the lawyers, one playing the witnesses, former National Enquirer publisher David Packer and Michael Cohen, about a 2015 meeting that goes to the heart of the charges. While not as lively and drama-filled as original testimony, it wasn't completely dry either. Before that, jurors got a reread of portions of the judge's instructions from him. That was also at their request. Several were jotting down notes, one juror nodding along at certain points. Meanwhile, Trump was sitting at the defense table, his eyes closed, his head leaning over to one side, occasionally shifting in his chair. The former president is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover Hush Money payments, which he denies. At Criminal Court in Manhattan, I'm Julie Walker. Secretary of State Entity Blinken is criticizing Russian attempts to sow discord in democracies with misinformation. After hinting the Biden administration may soon allow Ukraine to use American-supplied munitions to strike inside Russia. Ukraine says Russia conducted an array of aerial attacks with cruise missiles, drones, and ballistic missiles. The Supreme Court is giving homeowners another chance in an escrow dispute with Bank of America. The court unanimously threw out an appeals court ruling in favor of Bank America, which has refused to pay interest on money it collects to pay borrowers, insurance, and property tax bills. North Korea floated huge balloons to dump trash like manure, cigarette butts, scrap cloth pieces, and waste batteries across rival South Korea. This is AP News. The president of McDonald's, Joe Erlenger, says it's exaggerated. Prices have soared for a Big Mac. Erlenger says he and many franchisees are frustrated by a viral post on X about a Big Mac meal in Connecticut that cost $18, calling the price an exception. McDonald's says the average U.S. price for a meal is around $9.29. The fast food giant saw a slowdown earlier this year, as inflation-worthy consumers dined out less often. Since the end of 2019, the average price for a Big Mac went up about 20%. The average cost for all menu items is up 40% over the last five years, with franchise up 44%, which they attribute to higher costs for labor, paper, and food products. That's nearly twice the rate of cumulative consumer inflation. I'm Jennifer King. Best Buy, the nation's largest consumer electronics chain, reported another quarterly drop in sales. Coles reported a loss in the quarter. Various moves to fix its business still haven't been enough to get shoppers to spend. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News. This country was built on a distinctly American work ethic. But today, work is in trouble. We've outsourced most of our manufacturing to other countries, and with that we sent away good jobs and diminished our capability to make things.
