The Mickey Mouse Flowerbed
Hi everyone! As iconic as the train is, steaming past the entrances of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom is the Mickey Mouse Flower Bed. The Mickey Mouse Flower Bed with the main street train station gleaming in the background is not just one of the most popular photo spots in the park, but believe it or not, in the world. The first floral Mickey wasn't planted until less than a week prior to the grand opening of Disneyland. The close timeline made other Imagineers sweat, so much so that Jack Evans, a member of the horticulture team, got an official Disneyland inter office communication asking when he was going to plant Mickey Mouse in the entrance. Nowadays, it's very rare that you won't see the memorable planter blossoming. Much like other planters throughout the park, it's regularly maintained and changed depending on the season. During Halloween, you'll see it flanked with plenty of pumpkins, and during Christmas, you'll see plenty of poinsettias marking the mood of the season. Each and every Disneyland-style park has a Mickey-shaped planter near the entrance, and they all have their own unique features. The type of flowers and shrubs used to construct Mickey will vary depending on the park, and so will the exact location, but it would be hard to imagine anything more iconic than Mickey Mouse greeting you before you enter the park.
