In Normandy, on the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, President Biden says what the Allies did together far surpassed anything the U.S. could have done alone. It was a powerful illustration of how alliances, real alliances make us stronger. A lesson that I pray, we Americans never forget. The President says the U.S. will not walk away from Ukraine and its war with Russia. To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators, is simply unthinkable. The President and First Lady met with more than two dozen American veterans near Omaha Beach, where the fiercest D-Day fighting took place. Hallie Biden is on the witness stand in the federal gun trial of President Biden's son Hunter in Delaware. She is the widow of Hunter Biden's late brother Bo. Hallie Biden had a brief romantic relationship with Hunter after Bo died in 2015. The President's son is charged with falsely stating on an application he was not a drug user or addict when he bought a revolver in 2018. Prosecutors say Rex Huriman, the man charged in the Gilgo Beach serial killings on Long Island, kept a document he used to blueprint his crimes. Investigators say they found a planning document on a hard drive found in Huriman's basement. He's accused of killing at least six women. SpaceX's mega rocket completed its fourth test flight. It returned to Earth without exploding after blasting off from Texas. Boeing's space capsule developed more leaks during its first test flight with astronauts as it approached the International Space Station. Health officials say an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Central Gaza killed more than 30 people, including 23 women and children. Stocks are drifting in early trading as Wall Street's momentum cools following its latest record-setting day. Yes in P-500 was a little change in the first hour of trading Thursday that came a day after the benchmark index set an all-time high for the 25th time this year. The Dow rose 137 points, it's about 3/10% and as that composite fell 3/10%. Several retailers dropped after detailing more struggles for their lower income customers. Big Lots sank 22% after reporting a larger loss than expected. The retailer said it missed sales targets because customers are continuing to pull back on their spending. European stocks rose modestly after the European Central Bank cut its main interest rate. The Federal Reserve is widely expected to leave its rates alone when the U.S. Central Bank meets next week.
