It seems like everybody. Yannick Hanson is an amateur. The Canucks are an amateur with what they got out of Nikita Zadoraov. There seems to be a lot of people that think Nikita Zadoraov is just finding the best, most consistent version of himself. I think that's how you have to feel about him if you're signing him. I've mentioned before that I'm reluctant to go to those heights for him, but you have to feel like there's another level he's going to get to. And the question was, Zadoraov is going to come down to what is the discount? Because if six by six is available for him, that means $36 million is out there for him. If you're offering him something under $30 million, it's not going to get it done. Yeah. So is that at least really out there for Zadoraov? I don't know. But that again, if it's out there for him, then even $30 million will be a $6 million discount, which is pretty significant. It's like a 20% discount. You know, it's almost a 20% discount. So it's like it's a significant amount of money. So we're not talking about a small level of discount. Now, if we're talking about he might be able to get five and a half per year over six, and we're talking $33 million or something, then okay, maybe around $30 million would work. But I think the number here for Vancouver is you have to get the $30 million. And, you know, Orion important Moody says, like Hanson, we need to keep, listen to Hanson, we need to keep Zadoraov. How much are you willing to pay him is the question? Yeah. It all comes out to how much are you willing to pay him. The question is how much are you willing to pay him. I mean, I have put a good offer in front of them. I think they have. Now, whether it's now or before, but I think they put like something that might be close to $30 million, but not quite at $30 million. So how much higher than that are you willing to go? And I think that's going to be ultimately the thing. I think it's maybe some of you are feel comfortable doing that. Yeah, you say five times five, seven, five. Well, if you can get five times six, we're talking about six times six. You're saying five times five, seventy five. That's like under 30 million. The context of offered five times, I bet you that if, okay, maybe I shouldn't say this. I don't want to get radioed on this, but I'd say five times five, five times five, seven, five. We're talking about roughly $30 million, right? A little bit below. I think the connects are close to being at that level. So, Orion, are you willing to go above that? That's I think what's going to take for you to sign. If you're going six years, you're talking six years, five million, 30 million. Are you willing to do that? And if you are, okay, fine, but that's probably what it's going to take. And so, like, when we're talking about do you signs a door off or not, it's not about whether you want to keep a door off or not. It's like, how far are you willing to go to pay? I'm curious about what the number actually is and if it's just getting out of hand. But then you think of big playoff defenseman that have had success in the past on the big stage and look at some of the contracts that they signed. The name that popped in my head was Ben Sharat. Now, it didn't end up being 30 million plus, but he was 31 when he signed for Detroit. He was a year removed from being a part of the Trident that helped the Montreal Canadiens get to the North Division Stanley Cup final. And he still got all that money. Even after stinking the joint out with the Florida Panthers as a big-time rental for them in the playoffs that year that he headed into free agency. And he was 31 years old when he signed that contract. Not a guy that scored a ton in his career. Zadorov actually has done a little bit of that. You know, he had the 14 goal season in Calgary last year that really showed out for the Canucks in the playoffs this year. Like, I can see parallels there. And Zadorov being a little bit younger, coming off a real nice playoff. Like, yeah, the number, the number is kind of silly. And 30 million to stay in Vancouver. It is a lot. It is an uncomfortable number, I think, when you think about the salary cap. But it's also a discount, probably compared to what he would get on the market. So even a discount, that's, I think that's where the disconnect sometimes comes from, is that people get excited. Oh, Zadorov is getting a, would give the Canucks a discount. I'm super hyped about that. But the discount is probably still more than what you'd be willing to pay or what you think is likely a discount. I think that's where maybe the disconnect comes from a little bit. Yeah, it does. And I think it's kind of looking at the bullhorn bad thing. Like bull was willing to take a discount, but he wasn't willing to pay, take less than eight million, right? So would you have taken eight times eight? Yeah, maybe. But, you know, like, he wasn't going to significantly down from eight point five. So I think that's what you have to keep in mind. It's like you're getting a discount, but what's the range you're talking about here? Yeah. You know, and I think that's ultimately the biggest thing to look at here on him is how far are you willing to go? And, and Orion says, the price to pay to Myers the time was seven to seven and a half compared to where it is today. But that was a bad contract, guys. Like the Myers contract took until this year for you to look at and say, okay, maybe this year was worth it. Like it wasn't a good contract. It was not. The Myers contract was a horrible contract. It was a terrible contract. Yeah. Right? And the only time it ever worked for the Canucks was in the bubble playoffs where he played well and in a couple rounds he played and this year. Like, that's the only time he's giving you positive contributions for like a significant amount of time, right? Like, that's not a good contract. Like, if the Canucks sign, if you're signing a Myers type contract, that's not, that doesn't, those don't necessarily age well. Like, keep that in mind, too, is that just because you paid Myers is me, you should be paying this guy the same amount of money. Now, if you things that are always going to be better and all that fine, like, hey, go for it, but it's a hard negotiation because I think the Canucks are willing to go to a pretty high level, but if it's astronomical then at some point you got to say no. And that's, that's what's difficult about the options available to the Vancouver Canucks. Olives Lindholm, going to be expensive, Nikita Zadorov, going to be expensive, Phillip Pironic, going to be expensive. Dakota Joshua, guess what? Going to be expensive. That is the cost of being a good hockey team that your guys at the end of their contracts tend to, to end up setting themselves up pretty well for free agency. And there has to be some, well, there has to be some, some cutting out of some of these players. And they haven't won a darn thing. Yeah. No, and I see people mentioning here too, like, hey, what if you go eight years and 30 million? Well, why was Zadorov forego potentially another year or two making salary at age 35, 36, 36, 37? And he wants to keep playing by signing an eight year deal for the sale amount of money, right? So I think that's the thing to keep in mind as well. It's like, hey, Zadorov was a long term deal, but if he's willing to take six years at 30 million, why would he take eight years at 30 million? Why would he forego two potential years later in his 30s to earn more money as a free agent if his career continues and everything goes well for him just to go eight years, right? So if you go on eight years, it has to go above 30, right? Like every year you add to a contract doesn't bring the old total money down or keep the total money the same. Like when you're negotiating with a player like this, every year he's going to want more. You go seven, he wants another million or two for it at Not as much as you might think.
