This is AP News. I'm Rita Falle. President Biden and Ukraine's President Zelensky are just two of the world leaders gathered in France this week to remember D-Day during World War II. The AP's Charles D'Aledesma and President Zelensky's worries about another war, the one in his country. Ukraine is trying to fend off an intense Russian offensive in the eastern areas of the country. Moscow wants to exploit Kyiv's shortages of ammunition and troops. Along the roughly 620 mile front line, the short-falling weaponry, comes after US military aid was held up in Congress. The slow pace of delivery of pledged Western weaponry has long frustrated Volodymy Zelensky. I'm Charles D'Aledesma. Today's meeting in France between President Biden and Zelensky is their first since President Biden authorized more military assistance for Ukraine. Here at home, the heat is brutal Temperatures have been soaring in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona, topping 110 degrees in places. The National Weather Service has extended an excessive heat alert until Friday evening across roughly half of those three states. It's as Phoenix is experiencing dangerously high conditions, hitting a new record high of 113. At a Trump campaign rally in the city Thursday, 11 people fell ill from heat exhaustion and were taken to the hospital. All retreated and later released. Prosecutors are wrapping up their gun case against Hunter Biden with two more witnesses expected today. As prosecutors try to prove the president's son lied on a form about drug use when he bought a gun. Hunter Biden's pleaded not guilty to three felonies. The May Jobs Report comes out this morning. Economists think employers added 180,000 jobs in May. At the same as the number for April, the unemployment rate is expected to have remained at 3.9%. This is AP News. Now to the Michigan Central Train Station in Detroit and a rebirth. Diana Ross, Eminem, Jack White and Big Sean return to their hometown Thursday night in a concert to celebrate the opening of the refurbished train station. The last train pulls out of the train station more than 30 years ago and the building which fell into disrepair became a symbol of Detroit's decay.
