AP News. I'm Ben Thomas. At the UN Security Council, a resolution endorsing a ceasefire plan to end the Israel-Hamas War put to a vote. "14 votes in favor. Zero votes against one abstention. The draft resolution has been adopted." Russia, the nation abstaining. Washington says Israel has accepted the plan. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is back in the region and told reporters, "If you want a ceasefire, press Hamas to say yes. If you want to alleviate the terrible suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, press Hamas to say yes." Hamas has said it welcomes the Security Council resolution and is ready to work with mediators in indirect negotiations with Israel to implement it. Legal developments involving Donald Trump, the federal judge in the classified documents cases denied a request to dismiss some of the charges, but she did agree to strike a paragraph defense lawyer said was prejudicial. In the hush-money conviction, Trump underwent a mandatory pre-sentencing interview. A source tells AP it was less than half an hour of routine, uneventful questions and answers. Civil rights leader The Reverend James Lawson Jr. has died at the age of 95. That worked from his family at Donahue on his life. Lawson preached non-violent protest to withstand brutal reactions from white authorities during the civil rights movement. He was a close adviser to Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. In 1994, Lawson said King would have wanted his killer James Earl Ray released. "If Dr. King would have lied, he would be appalled that a person could be in prison for 26 years, having actually had no trial." In 2021, Reverend Lawson said the civil rights movement was the first great awakening to resistance to the racist systems. "And I maintain that Black Lives Matter is the error of that campaign."
