AP News, I'm Ben Thomas. Jury deliberations underway in Hunter Biden's federal firearms case. He's facing three felony counts accused of lying on a gun purchase form about his drug use. Julie Walker sums up the closing arguments. Prosecutor Leo Wise told jurors to focus on the overwhelming evidence against Hunter Biden and pay no mind to members of the president's family sitting in the courtroom, including First Lady Jill Biden. Defense attorney Abby Lowell told jurors the prosecution did not meet its burden of proving its case beyond a reasonable doubt. The defense has suggested that at the time he bought the gun, Hunter Biden did not consider himself an addict. I'm Julie Walker. Donald Trump urged a staunchly anti-abortion Christian group to stand up for innocent life and vigorously revisiting an issue Democrats want to make a focus of this year's presidential election. In a pre-recorded message to the Danbury Institute, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said, we have to defend religious liberty, free speech innocent life and the heritage and tradition that built America into the greatest nation in the history of the world. But now we are, as you know, a declining nation. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is again visiting the Middle East meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He says Israel has signed off on the latest ceasefire proposal. The only party that has not accepted, the only party that's not said yes, is Hamas. That's who everyone is hitting on. That's who the Palestinians in Gaza are waiting on. It's who the Israelis are waiting on. It's who the hostages and the hostage families are waiting on. Search underway in the African nation of Malawi for a military plane missing with the Vice President and nine others aboard in a mountainous region. And the Reverend James Lawson Jr. has died. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. called Lawson the leading theorist and strategist of non-violence in the world. He and King were both 28 when they bonded over the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and nonviolent protest. Lawson was 95. This is AP News. Wall Street's week started with gains. I'm Seth Zutel, and this is the AP Market Support. Stocks ticked to more record highs on Wall Street, ahead of a week with several top tier reports on inflation, as well as the Federal Reserve's latest meeting on interest rates. The S&P 500 rose three-tenths percent Monday, topping the record high it set last week. The Dow rose 69 points, that's about two-tenths percent. The Nasdaq composite ticked up three-tenths percent, setting its own all-time high. Energy stocks rose as crude oil prices regained some of the recent losses. A buyout of diamond offshore drilling by rival Noble also helped lift the energy industry. European stocks fell following surprise results in elections for the European Parliament over the weekend. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 4.47 percent. Seth Zutel, New York.
