If you saw my first video today, we talked about the astonishing political earthquake that rocked the entire European continent over the weekend when voters in 27 nations went to the polls to elect their next European Parliament. The result really was nothing less than what many are calling a right-wing tsunami. National's populace all across the continent won their respective elections and are now poised to shake up the EU like never before. But among those astonishingly impressive wins, none compared to what happened in France. National Rally, France's Patriot Party, got a record 34% of the vote twice as much as President Macron's Renaissance Party. If you want a sense of how dominant National Rally was in that election, take a look at this map. All the brown that you see represents the areas Marine Le Pen won in. It's beyond anything you could have imagined. And if you're listening by way of our podcast, 15 million podcasts downloads, needless to say, it's basically all brown. One out of every three Frenchmen voted for National Rally. It's just absolutely incredible. Not to mention an absolute humiliation for President Macron. Russian officials certainly took notice and simply couldn't help themselves. Russia's state Duma mocked Macron, claiming that both he and German Chancellor Scholz were desperately clinging on to power with their last remaining strength. In other words, the future is the trad right, the National's populace right, and the days of globalist elites like Macron are indeed coming to an end. And he's absolutely right. This head of Russia's Duma is correct on that, which we'll get into in a mere moment. But obviously, Macron felt like he had to do something in response to this humiliation. And so he announced last night that he was indeed taking the extraordinary step of dissolving parliament and calling for snap elections. The rise of nationalists and demagogues is a danger for our nation, but also for Europe, for France's position in Europe and in the world. And I say this even though we have just celebrated with the whole world, the Normandy landing, and as in a few weeks we will welcome the world for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Yes, the far right is both the result of the impoverishment of the French and the downgrading of our country. So, at the end of this day, I cannot act as if nothing had happened. Added to this situation is a fever, which has gripped public and parliamentary debate in our country in recent years, a disorder which, I know, worries you, sometimes shocks you, and to which I do not intend to give in. However, today, the challenges that present themselves to us, whether external dangers, climate change and its consequences, or threats to our own cohesion, these challenges require clarity in our debates. Ambition for the country in respect for every French person. This is why, after having carried out the consultations provided for an Article 12 of our constitution, I decided to put back in your hands the choice of our parliamentary future by the vote. In a few moments, I will sign the decree convening the legislative elections, which will be held on June 30 for the first round, and July 7 for the second round. Now, did you notice that there? He talked about climate change and its consequences. That's what's concerning a Manuel Macron right now. After that political shellacking he got over the weekend, climate change and its consequences. The radical, the far right, are a threat to all of humanity because they want to dismantle all of our wonderful green initiatives that protect us from climate change and its consequences. I mean, talk about being deaf. Now, Macron's move to force SNAP elections stands in stark contrast to how Belgium's globalist prime minister reacted to his resounding defeat over the weekend. He actually resigned. Remember, the EU elections are very much like Europe's midterms. It's where voters get to render a verdict on their ruling parties, on the parties that are currently in power. And if they overwhelmingly reject that party like they did in Belgium, sometimes you'll see their prime ministers resign. Or, in the case of France, call for SNAP elections. Now, if you don't know Macron's Renaissance party, it was originally called M. Marsh, but it's called Renaissance now. It doesn't have a majority in the French parliament, so they rely on very shaky, brittle coalitions to get anything done. It's one of the reasons why Macron recently completely bypassed parliament to impose, by fiat, his own pension reforms on the French people. Do you remember this? The issue with virtually all entitlements is how do you balance out those paying into the system with those recipients withdrawing from the system? And among the many proposals Macron insisted that the retirement age raised from 62 to 64 in France, so his proposal balances the equation on the side of the recipients. Now, Macron's proposal is not the issue or wasn't the issue at the time. What was the issue is he refused to have a vote on it. As it turns out, Macron's proposal was very unpopular. It was doomed to defeat in the French parliament. And that's when he, in effect, turned the proposal into a dictate. He invoked what's called Article 49 of the French Constitution, which allows the president to unilaterally bypass any law without a vote. So here's how the French parliament reacted when the prime minister came out and announced the decision. [Applause] [Music] So needless to say, if that's how MPs were reacting in the National Assembly, the French people were all the more incensed by this blatantly anti-democratic authoritarian tactic on the part of Macron. So regardless, what Macron is trying to do here with dissolving Parliament and calling for snap elections, and keep in mind he's doing this. All his France is getting ready to host the Olympics in a few weeks. I mean, it's crazy, but what he's trying to do here is he's trying to push back against the rise of National Rally. He's banking on the notion that's very hard to win back-to-back elections in a row. And he's banking on the fact that it's far easier for National Rally to win in European elections than it is to win domestically. And Macron thinks he can get political power back by beating National Rally in the election just seven weeks away from today. Now, it's a very, very risky move, and a lot of pundits are saying that, not the least of which because it could end up backfiring, and making Marine Le Pen, Prime Minister of France, if Macron's plan backfires, National Rally would get a majority in the Parliament, and Marine Le Pen could end up becoming Prime Minister. And that is a very, very real risk. And it's not just because Macron's approval rating is horribly low. He's in the '20s at this point. It's more of a concern here that we indeed may and be on the cusp of a massive political paradigm shift in France, in particular in Europe as a whole, where globalist mainstream politics, of which Macron represents, finally begin to wane. The politics that are increasingly ascending in France and throughout Europe is what's commonly referred to as civilizationalist politics, or civilizational populism, which goes way beyond just nationalism, what's so key to understand here is with nationalism, the US versus them calculus is understood in nation state terms. So it's Bosnia versus Serbia, or France versus the UK, or Quebec nationalist versus Canada, right? That's nationalist sentiments, but with civilizationalist sentiments, the US versus them calculus widens beyond the nation state. It's not just France versus the UK now, it's Europe versus Islam, or Europe versus Northern Africa in the Middle East. Like what we saw over the weekend with the European elections, civilizationalism widens the US versus them category in such a way that has the potentially profound effect of unifying entire continents. And the idea here is that if you can unify the continent, you can unify the nation. So Marine Le Pen de National rally are going way beyond just French nationalism here. They're increasingly embracing civilizationalism. And as such, given the electoral success over the weekend, they may be headed for yet another unprecedented landslide in the weeks ahead.
