In the upper 90s today, with most of the Midwest and Northeast facing heat watches and warnings this week, people are being warned to take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion and dehydration, meteorologist William Churchill. The risk of these heat illnesses are high and people need to take precautions such as staying indoors, running air conditioning, drinking fluids. A federal judge in Kentucky has just blocked a Biden administration rule aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ students in six states. A similar ruling came down from a different court last week. How bad is social media for kids? So bad, the US surgeon General says he's seeking a warning label. Here's our Julie Walker. The US surgeon General has called on Congress to require warning labels on social media platforms, similar to those now mandatory on cigarette boxes. Dr. Vivek Murthy says that social media is a contributing factor in the mental health crisis among young people. The idea would need congressional approval. In Maryland, the governor announces he's pardoning 175,000 people who were convicted on marijuana offenses over the decades. He says pot is now legal in the state for recreational use. So the convictions are unfair. It means a harder time with everything, everything from housing, to employment, to education. It doesn't erase the fact that people who are arrested for cannabis, three NBA fans will be tuning in tonight to see if the Celtics can wrap up the NBA championship against the Mavericks back in Boston.
