AP News, I'm Ben Thomas House Republicans aren't giving up on efforts to hold the Attorney General in contempt of Congress, Norman Hall has the latest. Speaker Mike Johnson says the House will go to court to enforce the subpoena against Attorney General Merrick Garland for access to President Joe Biden's Special Counsel Audio Interview. The legal effort follows the Justice Department's refusal to prosecute Republicans' contempt of Congress charge. Johnson called the refusal sadly predictable. Republicans have demanded the audio of the Special Counsel's interview of the President about improper retention of classified documents. A transcript was handed over. Garland has said releasing the audio could jeopardize future sensitive investigations. Norman Hall, Washington. The Supreme Court struck down a ban on rapid-fire rifle bump stocks. Vladimir Putin's offering Ukraine a truce on condition it withdraws from regions Russia has annexed and renounces plans to join NATO. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky compares it to Hitler's ultimatums that led to World War II. Pope Francis addressed G7 leaders challenging them to keep human dignity foremost in developing artificial intelligence. Kate, the Princess of Wales, says she's making good progress in her cancer treatment and will attend tomorrow's Trooping the Color ceremony. Lisa Dwyer reports a passenger jet recently did something called a Dutch roll. Investigators say a Southwest Airlines plane suffered damage to parts of the structure after it went into a Dutch roll during a flight last month. The National Transportation Safety Board says the roll of Boeing 737 MAX happened May 25th, but Southwest did not notify the safety board until June 7th. A Dutch roll is an unstable combination of the tail-sliding sideways and a plane rocking in a way that causes the wings to roll up and down. No one was injured on the Southwest flight, which landed safely in Oakland, California. The Southwest spokesperson says that they are participating in the investigation. I'm Lisa Dwyer. This is AP News. Another natural wonder unfolding, the AP Seth Bornstein. A triple play of nature this year. We had the solar eclipse. We had the northern lights and now we're having the great cicada immersion. There are trillions of cicadas right now, invading several states from Wisconsin and Illinois, Missouri, all the way south and east to North Carolina, periodical cicadas called magus cicadas, as in magic. They come out only once every 17 years for these guys, and then there's another brood that are more south of us. They come out every 13 years. But for these two broods to come out together, to come out at the same time, that's a once every 220-some-year situation. Again, that's AP Science Writers Seth Bornstein and I'm Ben Thomas, AP News.
