"AP News. Good morning, I'm Ed Donahue. The Supreme Court is striking down a Trump-era ban on gun bump stocks. The AP's Jackie Quinn has the story." The High Court decision finds the Trump administration didn't follow federal law when it banned bump stocks. The type of rapid-fire accessory that was used by a sniper in Las Vegas who killed 60 people at a music festival in 2017. On a 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court justices agreed with a Texas gun owner who challenged the ban, arguing the Justice Department wrongly classified the accessories as illegal machine guns. The liberal minority on the court says it's common sense. Anything capable of unleashing a torrent of bullets is a machine gun, but the conservative majority suggested Congress should be addressing the issue of bump stocks. I'm Jackie Quinn. NATO has approved a plan to speed security aid and training to Ukraine's armed forces. NATO's Jan Stoltenberg says allies are taking on larger roles. "The growing threats we face demand significantly increased capital requirements from allies. Narrows such as weapons and ammunition, air and missile defense, logistics and long-range weapons." The University of Michigan's Consumer Sentiment Index shows consumer sentiment fell in June for the third straight month as Americans took a dimmer view of their own finances and worried about persistent inflation. Flash flooding is possible again today in South Florida. Some areas got as much as 20 inches of rain. Alex Demchenko in Howlandale Beach says the last few days have been a disaster. "It was all the ground raining. We didn't come out from our apartments because we were scared." Rain totals today are expected to be smaller in Florida, but the ground is already saturated. The losses were sharper across the Atlantic, where European stocks have been rocked by the results of recent elections on the continent. Winds by far-right parties have raised the pressure on France's centrist president in particular. That country's cut current is closing out its worst week in more than two years.
