AP News, I'm Jackie Quinn, a second day of data showing inflation is cooling down. The government releases its producer price index. Here's our Shelley Adler. The Labor Department reported that its producer price index, which tracks inflation before it reaches consumers, declined 0.2 percent from April to May after rising a half percent the month before. And unemployment increased last week by 13,000 claims, assigned the labor market may be cooling as well, which was the goal of the Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes. Yesterday, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell suggested rate cuts will be coming. "I don't have a precise date for you, but what we said is that we want to make sure that we're confident that inflation is actually moving back down to 2 percent." Elon Musk is asking Tesla shareholders today to uphold his compensation package of nearly $45 billion, and if they don't, he might walk. More from the AP's Tom Krisscher. "He says that he needs that to develop artificial intelligence at Tesla and has threatened that he might move AI development to another one of his companies if he doesn't get a 25 percent stake." Jailed U.S. journalist Evan Gerkovich will go on trial on spy charges in Russia. Russian authorities made the announcement today. G7 leaders are working on aid for Ukraine, with a $50 billion loan package secured by frozen Russian assets. With reporters, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says the leaders will endorse a peace plan for Israel.
