A.P. News. I'm Eddani. President Biden's son Hunter was convicted today in Wilmington, Delaware on three felony gun counts. Prosecutors say he lied on a gun purchase form by saying he wasn't illegally using or addicted to drugs. The A.P. soccer McGony has reaction from the White House. In a written statement, the president says he will accept the outcome of this case and respect the judicial process as Hunter Biden considers an appeal. The president writes, Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that in a statement. Hunter Biden said he's grateful for support from family and friends, but disappointed by the conviction. He left the courthouse holding hands with First Lady Jill Biden and his wife, Melissa, the A.P's Michael Kunzelman in Wilmington was asked, what's next? They're going to do a pre sentence investigation where they're going to talk to people in his life on Biden's life about his history, not only with drugs, but with other sort of parts of his life. And then the judge is going to calculate sentencing guidelines, which means it's a recommendation for what his sentence might be. It might be zero to six months in prison. It might be something more than that. We just don't know at this point. House Oversight Committee, Chair James Comer, who's been investigating President Biden's family says this is a step toward accountability, but there won't be justice until the Justice Department investigates everyone involved in what he called Biden's corrupt influence peddling schemes. Pamela smart wants to get out of prison. She's serving a life sentence for plotting with a teenage student in New Hampshire to have her husband Greg killed in 1990. Smart is now taking responsibility for her husband's death.
