Drouin is Back! + Avalanche Day 1 Free Agency Recap - S4

Jonathan Drouin is back! It came down to the wire on Day 1 of Free Agency, but a one year deal will keep Drouin in Colorado at a team friendly price. The Avs also added Calvin De Haan to bolster the defense, Parker Kelly to add to the fourth line, and finished it off with Joel Kiviranta coming back on a one year deal. However with still no clear answers on Landeskog and Nichushkin, is there room for any more moves to come with the roster still incomplete? Finally, answering your mailbag questions! Here's your hosts, Griffin Youngs and Christian Boulay. Hello, everybody. Welcome back to another edition of The Teleabs It Is podcast. On the hockey podcast network free agency edition. Day one of free agency is like mostly in the books, but the apps are done. So that's the important part. And wow, the cap goes up a little bit and teams are just so willing to start making mistakes that are going to handcuff them for several years. But the ads didn't really do that. They didn't do that much today, but the business that they did do, I'm a fan of, and obviously they bring Jonathan Drew in back. It did not look good for most of today. He goes to the open market, but a couple hours after free agency opens, signs a one year, two and a half million dollar deal with the avalanche to stay for another year. Really, despite the weight, probably the best way this could have worked out. Yeah, I mean, the only way it could have gotten better if there was term to this. The only way this time to try could have gotten better. Two and a half million for Jonathan Drew and after what he just did last year is a bargain. And he's going to be playing on the top line with Nathan McKinnon. That's just where he's going to be. So two and a half million dollars for a winger on your top line. That's pretty good business, if you ask me. And don't ever underestimate the power of friendship. Because I think if Nathan McKinnon and Jonathan Drew and were best friends, I think there's a zero percent chance Jonathan Drew insides this deal. Yeah, it's just a simple power of friendship. I mean, the Florida teams, they've got the tax stuff and everything. We got the power of friendship on our side. And I think you're completely right. I think that's ultimately what made this such a big deal is McKinnon loves the guy. And Drew Ann obviously loves it here, first of all. And that's a big no mistake. This is a risk on his part where it's just as simple as, oh, just go have another season and you'll get an even bigger contract next year. He can always get hurt. There's always something that could happen for him. So he's taking a real risk because he loves playing here and he wants to stay in Colorado. And credit to Chris McFarland for getting such a great piece of business done. But this is probably the biggest check box up today that needed to be checked. Because if this didn't get done and the abs make all the rest of their moves and nothing else, this feels a lot, lot worse than it is right now. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's just one of those, those moves that I'm still in shock. That's 2.5. I cannot believe they got him for 2.5. It's one of those things where where you were saying off air where you're like, I wonder if there's like a handshake agreement that maybe after we figure out what's going on with Val and Landy will give you a little bit more when it comes time for an extension. But two and a half million for Jonathan Drew Ann is just best case scenario. Like, I think we were talking about on the show earlier, like, if you got him at three, that'd be a bargain. And you got him for 2.5. Yeah. I mean, I'm sure you'd like there to be term on something like this. But there's also some team security in this too, just to, you know, double check. It's not an anomaly with Drew Ann. I'm 99.9% sure that wasn't an anomaly with him. But in the event that it is, you're not locking yourself into a term contract. It's for $4 million or whatever it could have been. And I'm sure there were offers out there for him that were a couple of years, probably more money per year. It's also great that the reported teams were St. Louis, Boston and New York. Yeah, that's disgusting, first of all. And of course they at the end, but the abs are still in it just to give us all hope. And it actually worked out this time. And so having Drew Ann back on this team, especially considering the state that they're in with a lot of uncertainty, it just seemed really hard for them to move forward without this guy. Because 2.5 seems like the absolute maximum that they can do. And if Drew Ann walked away from that, they would have had to spend $2.5 million for someone like Jonathan Drew Ann. And that might not exist. So we're very fortunate that Jonathan Drew Ann likes Colorado and his Nathan the kid and his best friend, because if that didn't happen, they might be in a lot of trouble right now. Yeah, I mean, it really was once that deal was announced. I was like, I don't care what else happens. This was all I needed to see. All the other pieces coming in. I trust your Chris McFarland, but you got the big fish. And I just love that 2.5 million is a big fish. For the apps with their cap situation, 2.5 is a big fish. That's like seven. Yeah, it's crazy. Like you said, the beginning of the episode with how crazy expensive deals were handed out. For the apps to do what they did today is just a good bit of business. We knew this wasn't going to be a crazy busy day when it came to free agency because the apps don't have money to spend. They just don't. They have $13 million in players where you don't know what's going to happen. And they did as good as they could possibly do. Yeah. And you look at all the guys that they brought in today. Obviously, they bring back Jonathan Drew in at two and a half. They bring back you. I'll keep you ranta at league minimum and they bring in two new guys. Calvin Dahan and Parker Kelly. Calvin Dahan gets 800,000 Parker Kelly gets two years at 825,000. They bring back Jacob McDonald. They bring back TJ Tynan. Callie Rosen's back too. Yeah. That's the thing. So all the business that they did today, they didn't make any mistakes. They didn't make any long term deals. You know, let's give this guy $5 million for four years and it sucks halfway through and we have to trade it. These are all short contracts for good players. Yeah, there's nothing sexy here. There's nothing that's going to help the general media be like all the apps are. Stanley Cup favorites or anything like that. They took care of business. They've got holes to fill on this team and they're also not done. But there's also a question, which we'll get to later of how were they going to finish building this team. We will get to that later because of the situations they're dealing with with Lannis Gog and Nachushkin. But for the business that they have in front of them right now, for the circumstances that are here. I like the business that they did today. There's a lot of teams where I do not like what they did today. July 1st is the day that teams screw themselves. They make a bunch of stupid signings. They lock themselves into things they don't need to and they start reacting to what other teams are doing. The abs just kept their eyes on the road. They weren't looking over at Dallas signing all these defense men or all these big money contracts. They're taking care of what they need to do. And also we have to remember, free agency is not one day. We've been doing this at the time recording. The market's been open for seven and a half hours. We have three months left. Stuff's going to happen. There's just going to need to be some patience. There's going to be some patience. There's going to be some trades made and some other stuff's going to happen. But overall, like you said, I feel good about what the abs did. They still have some holes to fill. But like you said, they still have three months to figure that out. Also, some of the best value of free agency comes from waiting where you find guys that are left without a chair when the music stops like, Hey, here's a PTO. Here's a league minimum contract. I mean, you obviously look at what they did with Jack Johnson a couple of years ago. You'll keep you wrong with the PTO last year. You look at a Danton Heinen last year who got a PTO and a league mint deal. He got over two million bucks today. There's going to be guys that fall through the cracks and the abs have done a decent job in the past. Of bringing in guys that just for some reason don't get deals. Teams finished their business and guys, even if they're good, just. Or if they turned down a contract expecting something else and then nothing happens and they're left without a deal. Yep. It's going to happen. It's guaranteed to happen. And the off season isn't one on the first day of free agency and it also isn't lost on the first day of free agency. There's a lot that goes into this the rest of this off season. But overall, I like what the abs did. Calvin DeHaan. He's been linked to the abs for what seems like five years. Good player. You worry about the track record with health because he doesn't. Correct me if I'm wrong. I feel like he misses a good amount of time. Yeah. I'm looking at it right now. He played 59 games last year with Tampa 53 of the year before 69. Nice. A couple of years ago with Chicago. That was not the shortened season. Yeah, it was not the shortened season. 44 in the division shortened season and then 29 in the COVID shortened season with the bubble. And then this last year is only year in Carolina. He played 74. So the guy misses games where you look at this as a Jack Johnson upgrade slash replacement. The one thing Jack Johnson unquestionably is better at than Calvin DeHaan is playing. And ability is one of the best skills you can have. Yeah. The way to make your money and the way to live up to your contracts is to actually be on the ice. Other than that, this is a certifiable upgrade over Jack Johnson. Yes. No, it is. It is. It's just how many games is he going to play? I agree. Like there's a reason why he only could sign an $800,000 contract. He's not an $800,000 player. When he's on the ice, he's very good. It's just how long can you rely on this guy to be a play deep into June? Can you rely on him to do that? Because I just, that's my only concern with him. It's literally like this is a zero like chance of failing because it's $800,000 for one year. Like there's some little risk involved in this move. It's just how many games is he going to play? And I don't disagree with the fact when he's on the ice, he's going to be great. That's just how often he's going to be on the ice. Right. I don't think it's a coincidence that they signed Jacob McDonald and Callie Rosen on the same day where, yeah, those guys are not ideally who you want to be in the lineup every night. But you know, when you signed Calvin Dahan, you're probably going to have to lean on your seventh, eighth, maybe ninth defenseman even more because the guy's not always there. So you have to be prepared for situations like that. So would it be ideal for Jacob McDonald to be playing those minutes? Probably not. But it's better to have him than not. You're going to have a Callie Rosen in your back pocket where it's just give us 10 games. And it's just better to have that in your back pocket than not. The high end of Calvin Dahan is better than probably like any other like defenseman on the roster, not named Gerard Manson. Taves a macar. It's just Kenny consistently do that all year. Yeah. And you have to remember this is a third pair of defense. It's just a struggle. This is the guy who's going to make you want to pull your hair out. He's making $800,000. He's not going to join the rush or anything. But he's a good solid player who's going to compliment the abs on the back end. If you could live with Jack Johnson, you can live with Calvin Dahan. I think that's the key word right there. And it's he's got big shoes to fill because Jack Johnson will always have a special place in my heart. But it's going to be it's going to be interesting. I just want to see if he can stay healthy. That's all I want to see because if he stays healthy, this is going to be a great move for the app. So I think he's going to play big minutes in that third pair D world. Yeah, it's just a fine guy. I mean, he's a smart player, which is what I look for in guys more than anything. If you just know what you're doing, you'll figure the rest out. Even if the physical skills aren't totally up to date. He's very good at getting pucks out of the zone. He's decent enough in zone retrieval and stuff like that, which is something to have a struggle in from time to time. I doubt they're going to use him in transition. They're not going to have him start running in my car plays, but you do need someone who can dig out pucks and get them out of the fucking zone, which is something that's going to be crazy on this team when they can't get pucks out of the zone. So hopefully Calvin Dahan will help with that. I think he will. And Sam Olensky's looking like he's going to be a day one starter for this team. That's the way it's looking. And the abs defense, like seven, eight, nine, ten looks a lot better than it did before the day started. Yep. Calvin Dahan, he's just a solid player. And again, $800,000. That's good value. Hopefully you're probably going to get what Tampa got out of him last year. He missed what's that about 20 or so games. They got three goals, 10 points out of him, fine defensive player. There's really not much offensive upside here for a 33 year old, but he's a good solid player. He's a guy, like you said, that feels like he's just been linked to the abs forever. Where last year I pretty much had him penciled in as my free agency signing and still looked at him again this year. And it's a little nice to finally see him finally on the team, but just a good solid player. I mean, there's just, there's not a ton of say about him, right? I mean, we've kind of said all that needs to be said is that he's, he gets hurt a lot. And he's Jack Johnson's replacement. It's a sad day. Yeah. And he's a good solid defenseman when he is on the ice. Yes. And long as he's just plays fine, plays fine enough in a third pair of role, does not absolutely destroy Sam Walensky. It's a fine deal. Probably doesn't come back after the next year. Maybe he does. Maybe this turns into Jack Johnson 2.0. You bring him back next year for $850,000 when the cap goes up kind of thing. Maybe he works out really well. Maybe he does. And it's the thing is, is this abs defense assistant made Jack Johnson extend his career by four years. So who knows? And I can, who's to say Calvin DeHaan can't do the same. Just, he already, he's already an F, we're already talking about injuries. So he fits right in. Right in. I'm not even worried about it. Yeah. That's right in. Next one. We talked a little bit about Jacob McDonald. He's going to be the Curtis McDermott replacement. Can play forward or in defense. Who'd be trade him for? He went to San Jose. Was it for Matt Nieto? I think it was for Matt Nieto. Pretty sure that was the Nieto trade, wasn't it? Yeah. Because him and why am I blanking up Martin Cowt went to San Jose? I'm pretty sure. Yeah. There's always another guy I mix them up with, but it's also bad that I can't remember who that is. Jacob McDonald? Yeah. I always mix up Jacob McDonald with someone else. I don't remember who the other person is, but I'll feel dumb when I see it. Yeah, it'll come to you. But he's another guy probably going to play in the AHL most of the year. Will be your first call up if needed. And go from there. It's a two-way contract. Correct. He was the one traded for Nieto. Okay. It's a two-way contract for him, right? That's a two-way contract for him, which, again, does not mean anything for waivers, right? They're like, that just affects the money he makes at the AHL level and the AHL level. That'd be sweet if it was just like you signed a two-way contract and you don't have to send them through waivers. That'd be really cool. Yeah. Unfortunately, not how it works. Not how it works. But I like Jacob McDonald. I always thought he was solid when he came in. I forget who he got. Like, one of the scary moments when I was watching a game, he got knocked out cold by someone on Florida like four years ago. Yeah, I forgot about that. It was so long ago, Nikita Zadorff was still on the abs. So that's how long ago it was. But, yeah, I think he's a solid player. Callie Rosen. He was part of the Dawson-Cadry trade, wasn't he? Was. He wasn't. And he did something here. He was here for a hot minute. He was here. He'll be, again, just a solid AHL player. I'd actually be shocked if he gets called up. That would be. Yeah. Like, this is a guy last year in St. Louis who played six games at the NHL level, spent 68 of them in Springfield in the AHL. But the year before played 49. And, obviously, the year the abs won the cup, ran into Jordan Binnington, knocked him out, and as him Cadry took the blame. But still played 40 games that season in the AHL. I mean, this is a guy who spends most of his time in the AHL, gets called up every now and again. There's going to be a time in the season where the abs are missing. A ton of defenseman. Callie Rosen's going to come up, maybe play five to ten games during the year. It's just the kind of guy where he's a solid AHL defenseman, and it's better to just have the guy there rather than start mixing in all your other prospects and throwing them off their rhythm. This is just a guy who knows what he's going to be at this point. He's going to spend most of his time on the Eagles. So, most of his time on the Eagles. So, that's pretty much it for defenseman. TJ Tynan's back, which I'm sure the Eagles are pumped about that because he's like one of the best players in the AHL. I always just love the fact that he's going to go down as one of those like an AHL great because he's just so good in the AHL. But it's just never translated to the NHL. That's just how hard National Hockey League is. Yeah, the guys that are last year, the year before, had 81 points with the Ontario reign and 72 games. He had 66 this year in 71 games. And in the AHL, he's played 21 games total and has one assist. So, this is purely an Eagles move that's going to give them one of the best AHL playmakers, probably of all time. Right. He's a great AHL player, a great AHL player. It's weird. It's never translated to the NHL. There's some guys that just doesn't happen that way. The guy already doesn't score at the AHL. He had nine goals last year, but he had 57 assists. Being a playmaker pays the benefits every once in a while. But the Eagles are sure pumped about that. And then the last move they have made, Parker Kelly. I didn't know much about him. I still don't know much about him. He's coming from Ottawa. It's going to be a fourth line guy. Yeah, purely fourth line guy. He gets a two year deal. He's a guy that can kill penalties. He's 25 years old. And based on everything I've seen, I saw a lot of Senators fans coming out of the woodworks being like, I can't believe we lost that guy. Such a hard worker. That whole kind of feel. The more I'm looking into this, the more I like it. Where this seems like a guy who's going to spend most of the season on the fourth line, maybe as an extra forward as the roster gets more figured out. But you have him for another year for next year as well. Not a ton of offensive upside there. Very similar to Brandon Duhaem from what I can gather, who went to Washington for 1.8 for two years. So you're getting a very similar player for a million dollars less. And also is still on the younger side. Can move penalty killer, which the abs love these kinds of guys. So I like the signing. Again, for $825,000, it's a kind of sign that's going to fly under the radar. You're going to forget about him. He's going to probably be pretty solid on the fourth line this season. And you'll have him for next year too, hopefully. That's the key. I'll do more research on it. It's going to be a fourth line guy. And you can never have enough financial forwards because you need them desperately. And I also think the avalanche, when they acquired Duhaem, I think they wanted more of that edge from him. Where I think they wanted more of that physical side from him. Where he could use his skating to knock a guy over, change some momentum. We just never really saw that from him. Parker Kelly does do that. And Parker Kelly, he's not as fast as Duhaem's. That's where the difference lies in. He's not as speedy as Brandon Duhaem is. But he definitely is a physical fourth line player. He's not going to have that flexibility like Duhaem had to go up and play top six minutes. Right. Whereas you can bubblegum and duct tape Brandon Duhaem on a second line for a game. Parker Kelly, probably not. Probably not, probably not unless something is extraordinarily wrong. Yeah, extraordinarily wrong. Let's let's hope it doesn't get to that point. But we mentioned it. I think one of my favorite resigns, too, was Yolke Vivanta coming back to the end. I really like that move. What we saw on the playoffs before he got hurt, him with the Colton and Woodline was very good. And again, you get him for pretty much a league men deal. I was a little surprised at that. He got up just league men deal. And again, it means an upgrade from last year where he was a PTO. Didn't know if he was still going to be in the league going in the last year. And I liked what we got from him. I really did. And again, you think about what Brandon Duhaem just got at $1.8 million. And Kivi Ronta, we're like, Duhaem's better. But the difference between Kivi Ronta and Duhaem is not vast enough to justify spending another million dollars on Brandon Duhaem versus Kivi Ronta. And Kivi Ronta had that stretch in the regular season where he just really was not doing much of anything, which is very consistent, which is what he's done in Dallas in the past. But in the playoffs, he only has the two points in the one goal, but I really liked his game. He really looked like an impactful forward on the ice and a guy that is going to be valuable to have in your bottom six. Like, I feel comfortable having him on the fourth line. I'm okay with that. He's the guy who is deaf. He's out there every night, giving it his all. And he's good enough that he will eventually find ways to get pucks in the back of the net. But when you're where the avalanche are right now, just knowing you have a guy that's a capable NHL player, making League minimum that you know is giving it his all every single night. I'm perfectly fine with that. Yeah, I am too. He's, I think my favorite part about Yolke Virante, he never does anything on the ice, where you're like, oh, there's Yolke Virante. He's, he kind of exists out there. Yeah, he is. He is a player that is out there sometimes. And sometimes you'll notice him. Sometimes, most of the time you won't. And for a fourth line guy making League minimum, that's fine. There's room to upgrade over that for sure. They did that at the trade deadline last year going out and getting a guy like Brandon Duhaem. And they might do that again this year. I feel like what we're getting from Yolke Virante is probably what we're going to get again this year. But now he knows he's on the team and he's not fighting for his life in training camp. So, I like the spot for him on the fourth line. There's probably going to come a point in the season where we ask ourselves, can we do better than this? And the answer's probably going to be yes, but you're going to get to the playoffs. And that's where Key Virante makes a lot of his money. He does, so I really like that move and you look at it. MacFarlane did say in his press conference after that Logan O'Connor's on track to start the season. So, your third line's looking pretty solid with wood, Colton O'Connor, your second line, you're missing a forward. Because, well, you could be missing too because we don't really know about that key. But your first line solidified, your third line solidified and your fourth line is a bunch of guys. So, there's still some work that needs to be done for the abs. But considering how the season, like how this free agency was going to shape up, I thought they did really well today. Yeah, the big box with Jonathan Drew and where if he walked out the door and went to another team, you were kind of screwed. Where there really was not a realistic option out there that you could put in for a similar price point. That you could even sign right now because they don't have cap space at the moment. They don't have anything that they can do. So, the fact that you get saved by Jonathan Drew and his generosity, let's be very honest here. This is a very generous thing that Jonathan Drew and is doing. Our friendship. Yeah. Where he sees an opportunity to win here, he's with his best friend. And there is an opportunity for him here to make more money. Where we might get to January 1st and you mentioned it off the hop. There might be a kind of handshake deal in place where it's just just keep it up. Keep scoring play the way you played for the last 65 games of the year. And here's a four times three contracts kind of thing where we'll take good care of you. Just stick it out with us for a little while while we figure out what's going on with Val and Landis God. We can't give you more right now. We love to, but we physically cannot at the moment. And thankfully he was amenable to that. And there's an opportunity for him to make more money on his next deal. But that saved the rest because if that doesn't happen and the only thing you're showing me is Calvin and Parker Kelly. I'm a little less happy. Yeah, a lot less happy, especially if he goes to St. Louis. Yeah, I would have been brutal. I wouldn't wish go in there. Anyone going to set up. We have an Assad. Yeah, that sucks. But like you said, this day, free agency is not over. The office is not over. We have a whole season to go forward with it. But should we talk about the two elephants in the room? I mean, because it's a really big question mark because the way that the abs approach this free agency makes me think that they are expecting both Val and Landy to be back at some point during the regular season. The money lines up with that. The money lines up with that. Val, I think, is pretty much like it's a guarantee. He's coming back. Like it's 100%. They are expecting Val to be back. The earliest he can come back is what November 30th, I think is what we said. Yeah, like I think mid November. Mid November. So I think that's all but guaranteed that was back. We can debate it all we want. To mind up, the way that Chris McFarlane and co are operating, they're expecting Val back. And with Val, it's a little bit more of a question mark because he could be back at any point after November 30th. Like they really didn't have the flexibility with it. So I think we can debate it all. We want all the rest of the offices and what they should do with Val when he comes back. But I think we can pretty much guarantee that Val and Shushkin will play games for the horizontal edge at some point next year. Yeah. Again, I'm not ready to guarantee that. But until I hear something that tells me otherwise, that's just what I'm going to believe. And McFarlane, the only thing he really said about Val in this press conference was saying that we heard about it when asked about the charity league. Nachushkin's playing and while he's in Russia and said to their knowledge, Val is doing rehab work in Russia. They'll get periodic updates from the league or his agent as directed or if something comes up and that's coming from Evan. Obviously, lead reporter on everything abs. So that's the most we've gotten on Val since it was reported he's playing in this charity league. And that's probably the last thing we're going to get for a little while. So I know the situation sucks. It sucks for everybody involved and it's such a difficult situation to navigate. And I doubt they're very happy about this right now, that they have $13 million right now, that they just don't know what the fuck is going on with. And with Land of Scog as well, they were saying, "Yeah, he's on track." Yeah, she's on track unless something happens, which is not really saying much of anything. It is a combination of words that you can say. It's a combination of words, but it's better than what we were hearing last year. Like last year they actually spent the money. Like he's going to be on LTI earlier. This year they didn't spend the money. And we saw what happened last time they did this. Didn't work out that great. And unless there's a setback, you really cannot play on anything else. And then he's going to return at some point this year. It's just, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it. And it's just, like you said, it's very frustrating. Because if you think about it, if Gabe and Vow are both in this lineup, this team's unstoppable. It looks a lot better because you have to get now with Drew Ann back. Yeah, you lost the guys you got at the trade deadline, but you had Land of Scog back into this lineup. Obviously that's a wild card. The guy hasn't played hockey in a long time. But if you're getting Land of Scog 75% back, that's still pretty good. That's still a very, very effective player. And getting Vow back into the lineup. Man, when the guy was on the ice, he couldn't really have done much better. He was dominant. Right. He really couldn't have done much better. Connor McDavid still did not have as many goals as Val Nachushkin did in the playoffs. And Nachushkin only played like around in three games. Yeah. Yeah. So I know we're all frustrated and the Val stuff, it really sucks. It really does suck. I'm not going to sit here and pretend otherwise. But you have to be realistic about your options here. You can't buy them out because, yeah, okay, you're saving money this year. You're saving a lot of money this year, actually, when you look at it. But that buyout lasts for so long, such a long time that you really have to ask yourself whether it's worth it to deal with that number on your books for such a long time. You can't really trade him right now because, again, teams are going to be hesitant. So you're not going to get a return. And then it's like, let's say Val comes back and is just Val. And then you just traded him for nothing, really. And now you just don't have him anymore. And some people would argue, well, that's fine. I'd like to know what to do with the money. And you can use that $6 million on stuff you know is going to show up to which I say. Okay. That's a fair point. But you also have to be okay with losing a player that when not on the ice, the apps don't win, which I will hear the argument for both sides. Absolutely. I mean, it's just, you look at it from a rational perspective. Like you just said, no one's going to want him right now. If you trade him, you're trading him at his lowest. And you'd probably have to attach stuff to him to get him off your books. It's really not a situation. Like the apps are not happy in this situation. I don't think a GM is volunteering to take that on right now. No one is. Actually, when there's no answers as to whether or not this guy is going to play anymore. So, and then you can't terminate his contract. It's against the NHLPA. They will get absolutely destroyed if they try to terminate this deal. They can't do it. They clearly looked at it. They tried to. It can't be done. I think the only thing that you can do right now, and it sounds like for McFarland. They're just like, I don't know, man, they'll text us. Yeah, we get away. But this has never happened before. So again, this kind of stuff, addiction and rehab, it sucks. It really does suck. This is the reality of stuff that happens outside of hockey. This is what happens for a lot of people in everyday life. It is an awful process for everybody involved. And we're getting a 5% taste of it, if that even. And it sucks. It absolutely sucks. And more than anything else, I just want Val to come back better. Whether that's with the abs or in the NHL at all, I just want him to be there and available for his family. Yeah, completely agree. Completely agree. So those are the two big elephants in the room. They are. It's just, it's tough. The abs are in like a really shitty spot right now. A really shitty spot that they really have no control over. You have no control over both those situations. I think that's what frustrates fans so much. There's zero control in this. Yeah, I think there's just no outlet for the frustration that a lot of fans feel. And I think some people just don't understand what's going on here. It's not as simple as just, well, just do something. Just, just make a move. Go sign Sam Coase. It's just no other teams in this spot right now. It's nothing anybody did. It's no move that they made that's locked themselves into this spot. And then you have a player in stage three of the player assistants program, which has never happened before. You have two situations that has never happened before. And you have two situations that have never happened before. And you have two situations that have never happened before. And you have two situations that have never happened before. And you have two situations that have never happened before. And you have two situations that have never happened before. And you have two situations that have never happened before. And it's incredibly frustrating. Very, very frustrating that you just have all this money that you don't know what is going on with it. $13 million is more than what Conor McDavid makes. It's more than what Nathan McKinnon makes. It's a lot of money. It's a lot of money. So I am changing my mindset to, by the time we get to the trade deadline, they're going to have answers. They're going to know what's going on with Val. He's either going to be back or he's not. And Landis Gog is either going to be back or he's not. And if they go into the start of the season sub-optimally, where Chris Wagner is still on the fourth line, okay. They've got someone on as an extra D-man or whatever. Because you think about the problems here. It's not awful. Like, okay, Cobolenko starts on the second line. Okay, that's not great. But you're able to get through it. You're not missing a second line center anymore. You have Casey Middlestadt taken care of. We didn't mention it off the top of Roscoe and did not get traded. His no trade clause has kicked in. So he's probably still going to be here. This is still a playoff team. Let's be honest with ourselves here. This is not a finished product yet. But if they can just put themselves in a good enough position, they're going to be able to wait the storm. And it sucks. But again, we're eight hours into free agency. There's time. There's time for things to work out here. There's time. But we'll have the rest of the offseason talk about what we think the lineup's going to look like when these pieces are going to get added. Let's talk about some former abs getting some big paydays. Let's start with Jakob Trenen. Four years, 3.5 to go play for the Minnesota Wild. I tip my cap to you. Good for you. You're agents of God because that's a lot of money for a fourth line center. Wow. That is a lot of money. Where I was like, yeah, I'd like to keep Jakob Trenen. Like one and a half, I think would be good. I was thinking he'd get like a storm deal. Holy shit. 3.5 for four years. God bless you. Good rain, man. Yeah. That's great. I saw he went to the wild and I went, of course he did. Then I saw the money. I'm like, I'm okay with that. That makes a lot of sense why Nashville traded him all of a sudden. I asked right when we got him, why is Nashville just giving him to us? That makes a lot more sense now. Make a lot more sense. Good for him getting his bag. That's a guy who I hope there's more offense with him because he's a great defensive winger. Probably one of the best defensive bottom six guys in the league, penalty killers. Penalty killers in the league. That counts for something, absolutely. But at the same time, he has to score. You have to be able to score at the NHL level to make 3.5 million dollars. Yes, I wouldn't have given him that as a general manager. I wouldn't know, but good for the outcome trend and you've got paid. Tip of the cap to you, sir. Tip of the cap. We talked a little bit about Brandon Duhan. He goes to the Washington Capitals. Good for him too, man. Like for a fourth line guy getting almost $2 million a year. Pretty good. Yep. 1.85 for two years. I mean, I would not have liked that on the abs. I think that's fine for the caps. I like Brandon Duhan a lot. I think that's a very solid fourth line guy. And I'll talk about the caps at the end of the show. But they're absolutely killing this off season right now. Yeah. Good, Duhan. Like I thought he was going to get like a marginal increase. Gets a good like $600,000 kick on his deal. Again, it's just the market right now. Guys are just getting more money than we thought they would. So good for him for getting a bag. And I think there's more to his game. I would have liked to have kept him. But again. 1.8. No chance. Again, when you have Kiburata for League minimum and you signed Parker Kelly for a million dollars less than that. I guess not. It's not even a debate. Yeah. It's not even a question. What's going to happen? So yeah, good for Brandon Duhan. The other trade deadline. Examine shop Walker signs with the Carolina hurricanes. 3.80 a year if I'm correct. I'm finding it very quickly. Sean Walker got $3.6 million for 5 years. Not as much as I thought he was going to get. Yeah. I was really expecting him to be up there towards the 5 range. Really? So maybe he gets the extra term. Talked him into it and being on a contender like the hurricanes. But it's a little less than I'm expecting. I still wouldn't have loved giving him that. No, I mean, it's just one of those things where the way the abs are built, their third pair, like it's just going to kind of always suck. And I feel like Sean Walker, he was really good in Philadelphia, came to Colorado and he got stuck with Jack Johnson. And that didn't really help his cause. So I think we'll go to Carolina. It'll be very successful there. And again, good for you, man. Go get your bag. Yeah, they get their money. And they also signed Shane Costas Bear, so they signed very similar players, again, for some reason. Caroline just really loves their defensemen. Yes. They're more than anything. They love defensemen. And they're willing to just let all their forwards walk, just so they can continue to build a defense that has no business being as deep as it is. I forgot they also signed Jalen Chatfield for $3 million. They did. They did. Okay. So they've got Brett Burns, Jacob Slavin, who they just signed. Orlov. Orlov. Dan. Scott Moro. Okay. Yeah, that's one. I mean, you can build a team that way. It's not illegal. It's not illegal, but it obviously doesn't work because you can't fucking psych around. You know, just keep trying it though. I'm sure this time it'll work. But yeah, I mean, overall, like the former abs, they got paid good for them. And it's just that that's what when you're when you're busy at the trade deadline, you acquire a lot. There's a 95% chance you're not re-signing those guys. Yeah. But who is a big trade deadline acquisition last year who stayed with the team that traded them for them. Last year. Yeah. Trying to try to think of any like big names that stuck around. Casey Milstad, I don't really count because he was an RFA. So I mean, you acquired him with the expectation that you're keeping. Yeah. He's not a rental. I'm trying to actually try to think of one of those like straight up just nothing coming to me. Yeah. I mean, the Panthers didn't really, I mean, they didn't really add too much. The Oilers. And where did Henry sign? He's nowhere yet. He's still mulling over. Yeah. Sam Carrick in the same trade went to New York. And all the teams that kept their guys, had them already. Yeah. So I mean, like, that's just what happens with the trade deadline. When you buy, you're not going to keep those guys usually. The ads were a strange circumstance where they kept both lucky and Manson. Like that's, that was just a. Everything a unique situation to do that. Yeah. So, I mean, it happens. But let's talk about the rest of the N.H.O. because well, the abs were pretty mundane. The rest of the N.H.O. went fucking crazy today. Yeah. Do you want to start with Tampa? Well, as it stands right now, there's been 176 contracts given out for 1.195 billion dollars right now. The single largest spending day in N.H.L. history. When we came into this being like, wow, this is not a great free agency class. But again, you up that cap a little bit. And everyone just absolutely loses their mind. And I think you have to start with Tampa, Nashville, right? Tampa, especially. Stephen Stamkos is no longer a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning. We left off last episode saying that, well, they just traded Sergey Chev. Surely. Okay. Stamkos is coming back now. We hit end. And then the tweet came out. He was getting the open market. So that age very poorly. It was just the cat. I couldn't believe it until it actually happened that he actually went and signed in Nashville. And Tampa really took, I mean, it's their best player in franchise history. He's probably Kucharov now, but Stamkos is like very much a 1B in that conversation. His number will be retired. His number will be retired. Wow. They really just kicked him out and told him to pound sand. Yeah. Really, he wanted to come back and they're like, fuck you, no. I hate it from the standpoint, but they, they got better with Gensil coming. How much? Not enough to piss off your entire fan base, but they did get better. Gensil's younger, Mike. You look at the, you can say, okay, Gensil, Stamkos, McDonough, Sergey Chev for like a little cheaper. How much better did Tampa get today? Yeah. I still think like Stamkos had a great year last year. It was almost a point per game. It's a franchise icon. Usually that's not how they go out, but I do think Tampa chose, right? Choosing Gensil over Stamkos. Like business wise, correct. But wow, did you have gone about this worse? Yes. No, that's why I completely agree. Like they, they butchered this from a PR standpoint and they pissed off probably a lot of fans and a lot of guys in that building. You don't usually just let your captain walk out the door and not really like walk up the door, you shove him out of the door. Like they started spitting in his face like a year ago. Yeah. Extension stuff kicked in where they were just like, no, we're good. You have to prove it to us. And then he scored 40 goals. Yeah. He's still a good player. Still a very good player like this. He's, he started to decline for sure. He's 34, the even strength stuff without Kucharov, really not there all that much. We'll see how it works out in Nashville without Kucharov feeding him bucks on the power play. But I don't know, man, that just, that really rubs me wrong the way they did that where it's like, wow, I really can't believe they just shoved him out the door like that. They shoved him out the door and they changed the locks before the door even closed. It was quick. And it's like, this is, this was your captain who you won two Stanley cups with. And yeah, okay. He was barely involved in one of them, but had one of the most iconic moments in franchise history. Played three shifts and scored on his first shift back and then just never played again. And then won again the next year. And a guy who was a first overall pick and scored over 500 goals with the franchise. I just can't recall a time I've seen a team with a player that respected. Just go, eh, well, yeah, it's a very Vegas thing of them to do. Well, speaking of Vegas in Nashville, Vegas went and really did it again with Jonathan Marsha. So the second most recent Khan smith winner punted out the door again. Thomas hurdle. They really just don't care. Yeah. And it's, it's to the point where you expect it and even Vegas fans are like, really? Come on. Not like he got signed or ridiculous amount. Like I actually think like that, that preds contract he got. That's probably the best contract. The president's getting out all day. Yeah. I mean, the predators, we can talk about them for a quick second. Everyone's hyping them up as all Stanley cup contenders. Oh, they can beat the abs and the stars and the playoffs. I mean, they got better for sure. I'm not going to say here and deny that. Third and central, maybe wild card team. I'm not willing to put them over us or Dallas yet. I mean, Sam coast, again, we have to see just how much is still in the tank with him. And Marsha still got five and a half for five years. Look me go to his 38. There's going to be a decline in there, but it's an original golden night. Who they got in the expansion draft. Yeah, they Florida traded. Did they trade Riley or did they trade Marsha so? I think it was Marsha show and then they selected Riley Smith. I think it was the other way around. It might have been something like that, but they wanted to take someone. Yeah, it's the same pick. It was semantics. It's not in his trade history, so I think he was the pick and they gave Riley Smith to pick Marsha so. Okay. Yeah, I think he had a huge, unbelievably stupid several years later, but original golden night wins the con smite last year as the most valuable player for the first cup in franchise history had a down year, I guess. No, he was good. Didn't he have 40 goals this year? All I saw with people saying that he had a down year, he had 42 goals. Yeah, he was good. He had more than Sam coast. Yeah, he was really good this year. He had nine points, nice again, but I don't know. I mean, it's a ruthless business. The NHL is starting to trend more towards just, yeah, sorry. We don't really give a fuck about you, which makes the Drew and thing even more interesting because it's gone. It's flipped from. It's like, there's no loyalty. And then for Drew and to just be like, I love my friend. I'm going to stay here. It's like crazy. Yeah. I mean, I get it from a business standpoint, for sure. It's just, wow, the way they go about this just feels so strange. And it's not like Vegas is looking great. No, they lost so many pieces today. They lost a lot of things today where you look at their lineup and you're like, is this the same Vegas that everyone has been terrified of every single year? Yeah. Because it's real. Because who is it? They lost Stevenson. They lost Mars to show. They lost a Mario. They lost. Who else? Who else am blanking on the other guy? Carrie a Carrie a like they lost so much. And they, they didn't bring anyone in. No, they brought in a Samsung of today. Oh, they did. Yeah. 1.8. That's a good deal for them. Yeah, he's a fine backup goalie. Stop putting him in starting positions. Yeah. I mean, like, what is Vegas's roster looking like right now? I mean, they, they've got Barbershev, Eichol, Stone. They got Holtz in the trade. So they'll have him with hurdle. Then you're talking about Dorfeiv, Hauden, William Carlson, Nick Wah, Anafin, Patrangelo. I mean, it's not terrible. Not bad, but it's not what it was. Like, they lost a lot of pieces today. The salary cap has come for this team. They're already over the cap. Yeah. Mark Stone's not even hurt yet. Yeah. Mark Stone's hurt yet. Like, they, I mean, that's always what they got in their back pocket is, is Mark Stone's back just constantly being in pain. Yeah. They're at some point in February going to throw him an LTIR and traded 2035 first for whatever big fish is on the market. So. I mean, it's going to be interesting with Vegas. I thought they lost a lot of pieces. Just to close up on Nashville and Tampa. Tampa. Okay. You do you natural. I agree with you. I think they're going to be better. But do I think the better than the abs and the stars? No, I think they're in that Winnipeg. Like Minnesota tier. Like, I think they're solidly in that tier now. Yeah. I think I generally underrate Nashville every year. They always do a little better than I expect them to. And they just added 240 goal stores into their lineup. They also added Brady Shea on a contract that I do not like. I don't like Brady Shea. I think he's one of the best overrated defenders in the league. I think he's fine. I don't think he's seven times seven. No, that's what I mean. Now he's one of the most overrated defenders in the league. He's 30 years old. So I don't. I don't understand that. But I think he's fine enough that this year next year, the results are going to be there else. They resigned. Carrier to 3.75. The obviously gave sorrows to the extension, which we mentioned before they signed Scott Wedgewood to 1.5. Like, I think this is a playoff team for sure. Yes. They made a lot of money. Like they're being crowned the off season champs, which we've seen what that's worth in the actual season. Doesn't really mean jack shit. But. They added Stan Coes and Jonathan Marsha so to their lineup. That's good. And they made the playoffs last year. They were the first wild card. And so there's a real chance that if they just get 35 goals from those guys close to those kinds of results. Yeah, they're going to be better next year. I just they don't have the finishing piece. I think that's going to make them a Stanley Cup, like favorite or they could surprise me. They usually do. They've got a good talented roster here. I just. It's always happens. A team wins free agency. It's like, Oh, they're going to win the cup. It's just that's not really how that works. Not how it works, but. We'll see how that my favorite move of the off season so far. I had happened at like midnight last night, Sam Ryan Hart signing for eight times eight. That's just ridiculous. I think that's stupid. That's stupid. It was eight point six to five for the full eight years. They got in at like 11.59. Give me a break. Fuck off. That's really good. That's my favorite move. And the Panthers lost a lot as well. Like they got ravaged, but they're getting Sam Ryan Hart for eight times. It wasn't that bad. I mean, they lost a lot of depth pieces, but the Florida Panthers are still there. Yes, like they're going to have to retool, but like. That was just the fact that I ran out for eight times eight is still just gross. Like the guy had 70 goals between the playoffs and the regular season this year. That guy has some market he was getting like 10. Yeah. Made minimum 10 and he gets eight point six five. Like that's just stupid. It makes me sick. Just how great the Panthers have it right now. Yeah, it's a really good deal. Let's keep moving up the east. The Bruins were very active. They get a Iceland home seven times seven point seven five. They're taking a risk. These two years removed from 40 goals. Kind of been trending down. But he's going to get to be the number one center in Boston play with David Pasternak like that. That's going to. I think that's going to help him a lot where I don't think he's going to get back to where I was raving prim to be on the eyes because of how underrated he is. But I do think he's going to have a very good bounce back next year. It's bettering David Pasternak or Brad Marsh and or both of them at the same time. The fit was just always here. Like we were talking about this before the season even began last year that. He's going to end up on Boston. I was shocked. He didn't end up there at the trade deadline. And he eventually ends up there in free agency. And he's going to be there for a long time. And I think I think there's a fit there. And they also get the door off for five. And it's like six, six or seven, like a really long deal. Yeah, six years, five million dollars a year, which. Yeah, I see, I see why Vancouver was a little hesitant on that. I get that. But yeah, I get it too. I'm fine with what Boston did. They actually have a. They didn't have to do the sign and trade with Vancouver because Jake Dubros goes to Vancouver. So. I mean, it's, it's just going to be interesting. Boston, I thought that, okay, the Rangers, they didn't land any of the big fish that I think everyone was expecting them to do with that gift they got from San Jose. They're still waiting to trade. And did you see that report that should sturkin wants like 14% of the cap. Yeah, where he basically would be making like 12 million dollars. I buy cup window. Yep. Not that you can't win with Igor's sturkin, but that's a seven million dollar pay raise. Yeah. That's like four players right there. Yeah. And there's also the report of Truba is just not happy about this whole thing. He's holding it all up while he moles everything over. And it's like, man, did you not see this coming. Yeah, like don't suck. Yeah. You were a liability for your team this in this postseason. Why was this guy captain? I have no idea. Who was the coach drug salon named in. So. Okay. Yeah. So we're interested in too much. Let's we'll end with the caps because I know you have, you'll be able to go on a little bit of a rating for them. Rest of the West. I thought the Canucks did pretty well today. I like to move the Canucks made. I like Jake de Brosk. Interesting to see what he does outside of Boston. What happens with that. The Kings tried their best. I liked the Warren Fogle edition but then they signed Joel Edmondson so that kind of canceled each other out. Yeah, I don't like what the Kings did. I don't like what the Kings do. I don't think I don't think I agree with many of their moves anymore where they need to significantly upgrade their team to keep up with the not just the Pacific, but the rest of the West and their answer is Joel Edmondson and Warren Fogle and I like Warren Fogle. He had a very good playoff, but Joel Edmondson for four years at 3.8 fucking. Why? Why? What does he do? I watch Joel Edmondson. Let me tell you what he does not much. He brings the concept of physicality where you tell yourself that he brings physicality. You watch him is like, okay, well, if they're standing still, maybe, but they're standing still. Yeah, if it's like in front of the net, he can move them a couple inches, but if they fight back. He's not going to do much. Another team in the Pacific, I thought did bad, the Kraken with Chandler Stevenson, that contract is bad. They signed. They signed Montour 2. I'm a little worried about that deal to the game for one seven years, 7.1. I don't think there were some times this season with Montour. I was like, I think last year might have been a little bit of a flash in the pan kind of came down to Earth a little bit this year still had a decent enough playoff, but I just don't get what Seattle's game plan is, man. I don't understand what they're trying to build here. We're trying to build the most mediocre team of all time, because they're not being patient and trying to build the team through the draft. They're trying to build through free agency, but they're not getting any of the good players. Yes, the Chandler Stevenson contract. They handed out 6.25 for seven years. Why? The first two years of that contract are going to rule, because I think Chandler Stevenson is awesome. The guy had 50 points last year. No, the money is a lot. Don't get me wrong. I like Chandler Stevenson a lot. But after you're two, you're going to be like, holy shit, we still have like four more years of this. I think there's serious potential that we're in year one of this deal and being like, what have we done? Because I just don't think that upside is there for him. I think the system in Vegas did a lot for him. Yeah, he had 64 points and 65 points. I just don't know if he's going to be able to carry a top line on a team like the Kraken, because they need their top line center to be Matty Beniers. And he took a big step back last year. If he can't take over that role and it has to be Chandler Stevenson, they're in big trouble. Yeah, big, big trouble. He's not young. He's 30. They're locking themselves into this one where it's like, yeah, he's okay. He's a good player. I like Chandler Stevenson. He was on one of the better deals in the league, because when he came over from Washington, he was a fourth line player that they got for like a fourth round pick and he blossomed somehow into a top six player. This is a big risk where I just don't understand that kind of money, that kind of term for that, for a guy who came off of a pretty big down year. Yeah, I like Chandler Stevenson a lot, but that's going to be interesting for the Kraken. The Oilers, I thought, did really well today. We talked about a little bit off air. They get Jeff's, I almost said, Stuart Skinner, Jeff Skinner from Buffalo, $3 million. They restart Corey Perry. I thought they did pretty well today. Get Victor Robinson to $4 million two years. I think that's one of the best contracts I got handed out today, especially if Arlington returns to form. There's still rumors that they're not happy with Evander Kane and likewise, so that's probably going to end up get being gone before too long now. They brought back Troy Stetcher while we were recording. How many times have that guy been on the Oilers? I don't know. It feels like he's always somewhere else. He was on the Oilers or the coyotes. That's where he's at. It's actually, it's only the, we got trade to the other. That's the first time he's been on the Oilers, which is genuinely shocking, but I think they had one of the better days of teams. They didn't lock themselves into anything super terrible. I don't negotiate in these with Ken Holland out. I don't know. Wait, wait, is this just pervy that the GM means nothing like Ken Holland's out there. And Ken Holland left and they're doing just fine. Yeah, they're doing just fine. They bought out Jack Campbell, which what's that buyout look like? Oh, that buyout is, it goes for a while here. I'm trying to. So cap hit for this year's 1.1, 2.3, 2.6, and that's 1.5 for the last three years. Good for Jack Campbell, man. He's getting a good bag, man. He's getting a million and a half dollars every year. Good for him, man. That's just, that's the dream. That's the dream. Get paid to play for another team. I like what the Oilers did. The flames. I still, like, they will lock up Sharon Govetch. I think they're still building in the right direction. It's just the Nazim cadre and Jonathan Huberdale just are going to prevent this team from being truly as. Yeah, like they're, I think they've at least acknowledged what they're going to be and they're trying to pretend that they're going to be competitive with some of the moves they've made. They know they're not. They know they're not going to be competitive. They signed Anthony Mather, the three and a half. That's a free third round pick at the deadline. And they gave Sharon Govetch a big extension, 5.75. It's a little rich, but he's a decent enough player. They signed Jake Bean. And like, this team's not going to be very good this year, but there's pieces there now that they can trade and continue to try to try to build because they traded their first. This year in the Monahan deal to Montreal, but they already got two back for Florida and New Jersey. And they have our second this year as well. So how do they get our second? Who do we trade? I think they got it from someone else. Yeah. So the caps. That was the large other pick that the caps got. And then they traded that to the flames for Monty Potty. OK, I'm going to say, who do we get from flames? But yeah, nobody. So we'll have to see. But what do you think about Utah today? I mean, Utah, none of the moves really stuck out to me. I think they made their big swing with Sergey Chev. Because who did they really even get? They got Stenland. They got. They resigned. Jersey to 6 million. They got Ian Cole. And they did fine. And they're trying to just not be a joke. I think I think the hype on them being like a playoff team is cooled down and everyone's come back to earth on that stuff a little bit. But there's potential here for this team. They have a core of players that doesn't outright suck. Yes. Yes. Have NHL players on the roster to compliment the team they've been trying to build for the last several years, which, who knows, might be really good for them somehow. It's very true, very true. I'm in the same boat with Utah. I think they're not going to suck. It's going to be fun to watch. Can we talk about? Yeah. Can we talk about two teams that I have no idea what the fuck they're doing? Buffalo Sabres. What the fuck are you doing? You signed like no one. What are you doing? And the end of time ducks just to have inside the single person. Yeah. The ducks did not do anything. The Sabres signed Jason Zucker. Okay. You got Sam Lafferty. You got Abe Kubell, an old friend. So what's the what's the plan here? Yeah. What do I'm saying, man? Like, what are the Sabres doing? Are we are they plan? Are we trying to make the playoffs? I don't know. Like, it's just crazy what the Sabres are doing. And I love the Sabres. I want the Sabres to be good, but they did nothing. Like, what are you doing? Like, I'm frustrated and I'm like a tertiary fan of the same and have been for like a couple years. I can't even imagine having like been with this team my entire life. How I'd feel right now where you actually have like decent players now that you're paying like a good amount of money. And they just don't do anything. Nothing. I just don't understand. They just keep waiting for like a savior to emerge. And you got it in Taged Thompson, who turned into his star. Kind of down here last year. Yeah. Down here, but he was also hurt for a lot of last year. But like you got your cornerstone in Darlene. You're paying $11 million. You got your complimentary top piece in power. You got to do something here. You got to build a hockey team at some point. It's dry. It's drove me crazy. I was like, where's the Sabres doing something like this? Back in Celebrini hasn't even played a game yet. And the Sharks are already trying to at least put pieces around it. You give him a fighting chance. The Blackhawks signed a bunch of guys that they bring back Theravine and bring Bertuzzi. And we're like, you know, they're not going to be good, but they're just trying to win some games and not. They don't, they'd be fine with the first overall pick next year, but they don't want to actively be in the competition for that. They've been bad for long enough that they, they want to start trying to build a competitive hockey team with good players and continue to build on that in the future and put things around Connor Bedard so that he does not feel like he's wasting his time. Is Taylor also with the Blackhawks? He is very much still with the Blackhawks. He was just hurt for like the entirety of last year. He thought he was going to be a free agent after this year. Next year. Next year. I thought that I was like, maybe the Cavs can get him on a PTO. Never mind. Trade deadline. I've retained. That's 3 million bucks. Yeah. So, overall, I just want the Sabres to do something. The Ducks I think are still just trying to suck. So I'm not really worried about the Ducks. It's just weird because they did it last year with Colorne and they still have Zegris and they did last year again with Goodis were. I just don't know about the vision here where I don't think they can decide if they're tearing it down or rebuilding and they're just kind of just twiddling their thumbs and waiting. But I think it's exactly what they're doing. They're just like, again, even with picking back at Sena Key where it's a good player. Seems like a very good player. But again, was that the smartest thing you could have done in that spot? Because it sounds like you could have got him deeper. And there were teams that were desperately trying to trade into the higher parts of that draft and would have given up a lot to do that. Yeah. And you just seemed really okay reaching for Bennett Sena Key at 3. And also just not really doing anything this year. Whereas like, okay, well, I'm sure Leo Carlson is going to be great. I hope he's really good. Because they're getting kind of desperate. I hope Carter Gucci is what you hope he's going to be. You better hope so. You better fucking hope so. It's like it's nice to tear things down and excuse me, Jesus chucked on my own spit. That's how fucking awful this ducks team is. It's nice to tear everything down, get all the draft picks and draft all the young guys. But like, if you want to do something, you've got to sign guys and you've got to be able to be somewhat competitive at some point. And I guess they're still waiting for that. But it's just very uninspiring, I guess. Very uninspiring. And then there was one last team we kind of touched on it. I want to talk about before we get to your caps. The Dallas stars what they did today. Makes no sense. Like, I get you don't want to give Chris Tannif that much money and that long a term. You might as well have. Like, you brought in just Matt Dumba who sucks, Ilya Labushkin, not great. Neither of those players combined is as good as Chris Tannif was for your team. Right. And like, okay, Tannif got the six years from Toronto at 4.5. Yep, pretty sure. You signed Labushkin to 3.25 and Dumba to 3.75. So at what point is that better than Chris Tannif? It's not. It's plain and simple. It's not. It's just not smart business whatsoever. So as an abs fan, I love what the stars did today. They got worse by addition. Matt Dumba is not good. Ilya Labushkin, I don't get what people see in this guy. And I'm not alone in that. Apparently NHL GM's just, they project this vision of what Ilya Labushkin is on to him and then trade for him and sign him with that in mind. And even though it just doesn't exist, he had like one halfway good season in Arizona. And for some reason has just been talked up to be this physical top four defenseman. He's like, he's six two. He's like, he's not anything really special. He's also not particularly good at anything. He doesn't do much of anything particularly well. And Matt Dumba, I'm sorry, what did he do to get this contract? Because I'm confused as to what exactly Matt Dumba did on his prove it deal in Arizona and getting traded to Tampa last year where a team looks at him and goes, yeah, three and a quarter for two years even. Why? I don't know. I don't really get it. What there really is to be unlocked. They brought back to Shane for another year at $3 million. So pretty similar to what Drew Ann did. I guess he likes it in Dallas. I'm not going to extend the Duchane conversation any further because I don't want to have it. And they brought back Sam Steele, who I wanted to have on the ass because he didn't get qualified. But I just don't, they got worse today. Their defense is worse than it was when we played them in the playoffs. And this is their, I mentioned this to you off air. This is, this should be their, their push their chips in here. Jamie Benz expiring. Obviously they got Matt Duchane again expiring. But Wyatt Johnston and Jake Ottinger are expiring and need new deals. And let me tell you, those are not going to be cheap. So, what's the worst case, like, what's the best case scenario for Wyatt Johnson's contract? Is it 8 million a year? Is that the best case scenario? Ridge deal, best case scenario, six and a half to seven. Still, that's seven times what he's making right now. Right. That is a significant pay raise. Ottinger's probably making close to double on his next deal, probably in the seven to eight range. How much is he making? I thought he was at five. He's at four right now. Okay. I think six is probably where he's at. I think he'll be around seven. I probably like in the seven and a quarter range. Is he still an RFA or is he going to be a UFA? He's an RFA with arbitration rights. Oh, yeah, he's going to get paid. But he's also still only 25. I think there's, I think that's going to be, it's going to be a lot of money. It's going to get harder for the stars to be able to build the teams that they built. Once Johnston's off his contract, they only have, they have two more years of Stankovin. They already have to pay Harley now. What is Robertson? Robertson has two years left too, right? Yeah, Robertson. So they're going to have to pay Stankovin and Robertson at the same time. This is what I mean, man. That's your push in moves. Matt Dumpa, Ilya Labushkin and Brendan Smith. Really? That's not worth pushing in. I'm not saying that as a hater. I'm saying it because I love these moves as a hater. So I just, I don't really understand why they did this. They also got Casey to Smith for three years at $1 million, which is a pretty good deal. But for the reigning general manager of the year, my favorite award, I don't get it. I don't see what we're doing here. I don't either. But let's, let's end the free agency talk before we get to our questions from the mailbag with what's, let's just call it three minutes of caps talk with Griffin Young's. Yeah. Before we do, I just wanted to see if there's any other teams we missed. We can talk about Toronto really quick because you have to. I brought back Max Domie for four years at 3.75, 10 of at four and a half, Ekman Larson. Don't like that. Like, wow, that's a lot of money. Yeah. Joseph Wall gets a big pay raise to 3.6. They bring in Stollars as they're back up for two and a half. Yani Hawkenpah as well for one and a half. It just seems like the Leafs are doing what they always do, right? Yeah. So it's just going to be the exact same team next year. Mitch Marner's not getting traded. Nope, surprising contract extension wasn't announced. Yeah, probably will be pretty soon. He's going to get a contract extension. Everyone's going to hate it. Maybe Matthews gets the C. I heard that rumor from Dreger today that they're going to put the C on Matthews this year, maybe. Okay. So I guess Tavera is just going to walk next year and they'll have more money. How many else do we do this with the Leafs where they just don't really do much? Like, we're going to hear so much about how Chris Tannev is going to change things in Toronto and this time Christian, this time we got the guy, this time we've done it, this time we've solved the problem. Morgan Riley is still not just magically a number one defenseman. Correct. So it's been my deal with the Leafs. It's like he's not a bad player, but he's just not a number one. No matter how often you try to make him a number one, he's just not. Just not. They're a big problem here. And they're fine. They're going to have the same season again. They're not going to win the division again. They're going to be second or third in the Atlantic again. They might win around. They might. They're not beating Florida. Nope. They're probably not beating Boston. Nope. The same fucking thing. It's the same thing over and over again. And it's just, it's not even worth talking about all that much. It just doesn't matter. Doesn't matter. Completely agree. But it's the Leafs, so we're going to talk about it. Yeah. And I guess that we can talk about the Red Wings because we haven't. They bring in Jack Campbell and Cam Talbot. For some reason that was a tongue twister and I almost messed that up. But Patrick Haynes back for $4 million for another year. Eric Gustafson. Here's the eyes are playing folks. Yeah. All it's glory. Yeah. This is the Red Wings. You excited yet? No. The team is okay as hell. They have the best mediocre team out there. Yeah. And they're going to get talked up a lot. They will go on a stretch where they win like 10 out of 15 or like 10 out of 12 games and people go out. Maybe this is the year. And then they'll just come crashing back down to earth. Yep. That's what's going to happen. And Pittsburgh. I did not think did a very good job today. They bring in Chris Lick. Blake Lazat, who I wanted only have, but too expensive at 1.85 bovillier. It's like, what are we doing? They're trying their best. They traded Riley Smith to the Rangers at 25 retain. They got a 2027 second round pick. Okay. Kevin Hayes is here now. I think this is the first time in my life. I might genuinely pick the Penguins missed playoffs, even though they missed two years in a row. I've never picked on the miss before, but wow. This team is just not doing much. Eventually Crosby is going to be just average. Yeah, maybe that's when he's 45, but I imagine that's also coming on the next couple of days is the Crosby extension. So don't don't drop any. How do we get Crosby over here into our mailbag? Because it's again, I'll say for the 500th time, it is not going to happen. I hate to be the spoil sport. But again, that conversation got a lot more intense than it needed to be. It'd be really cool if it happened, though. Really cool if it happened. And also Eric Johnson staying in Philly for another year. And that sucked. Yeah, that sucked for a million dollars and they're bringing their bringing Mitch Calvin, which we already know. Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about the EGA news. Yeah. It's that's in Philly. Yeah, that's all right. That's all right. But the team you haven't talked about and trying to be unbiased, I think has had the best off season of any team this year. Again, I am a caps cynic. I have come on this show for four seasons and torn this team in half for all the stupid shit that they do. I have very little to complain about with this off season so far. They have genuinely done a fantastic job today. They bring in Duane, which we talked about. They bring in Matt Waugh and they trade for Jacob Checkrin for basically nothing for Nick Jensen and a third round pick. Not to mention, they already got Manji Apani. They've done a really good job this off season. I don't think they're winning any cups this year, but like I have gone from, yeah, this team's not making the playoffs. Like some pretty reasonable expectation to think that this team might make the playoffs this year. But that means they aren't going to make the playoffs because if we were expecting them to, that means they aren't going to. Yeah, probably. But I'm looking at their defense right now. Christian, there's players here. There are NHL players on this defense right now and they don't suck. Jacob Checkrin, Carlson, Matt Waugh, Rasmus Sandeen, Farrah Vary, and Trevor Van Reemsike is your third pair. Be still my beating heart. This is a playable defense for the first time in years. And you're spending $2 million on goalies combined. They got Logan Thompson, who's making under league men and Charlie Lindgren, who's making $1.1. They're spending under $2 million on their goalies where, I don't know, the Dubois thing was like, maybe they know something. Maybe they know something about Dubois that we all don't know because everything else they've done has just been unquestionably fantastic. And the Dubois thing is really not that bad because they did get off of Kemper and there still is something there with Dubois. Enough of it. I don't know how much, but I think it's better than what it was in LA because there was still something there in Columbus and Winnipeg. He was terrible in Los Angeles. Again, I still don't know why Los Angeles did that to begin with. And you put Oceon LTR, which they will, backstrums already on LTR. They brought in Duheim as well. Like, this is a solid team. I'm shocked, really genuinely shocked that somehow, some way, they've built a solid team here. And the only thing they're risking is like, term on some guys, "Okay, Dubois's kind of iffy." But if Dubois works, which is a load-bearing if, he is young. He's not 30. And Matt Wah, okay, that's a pretty long deal, but Matt was good. Like, he's a genuinely a good player that has flown under the radar for a long time and getting him under six. Like, he reminds you of a guy who shares the same first name in Matt Niskin and who they signed to a really long contract all those years ago and stayed pretty much the whole time because he was great. For pretty much a very similar price, I think Niskin was 5.5. And they didn't sign Brooks Orpik along with it for 5.5. So, shit, man, this is even better than that. Trickler's going to be interesting. Trickler's going to be really interesting. You get him out of Ottawa. You get him out of Arizona. I mean, talk about two franchises. You do not want to be spending your career on. And you bring him on to a team like the Capitals who is not bringing you and expecting you to be a savior. Just be good. All right, just be good. Just be Jacob. He's a free agent after this year, right? Yeah, he's a free agent after this year. But again, to give him a third of Nick Jensen for him, that's nothing. Even if he walks after this season, I'm not bothered by that. Well, I mean, they could trade him at the deadline, too. Yeah. And if they suck. Okay, then Manji Apani is expiring. He's getting traded. Trickler is expiring. He's getting traded. Duhame can very easily fetch you something for two years. Like, they've got stuff here that, okay, shit really hits the fan and they suck. They're just going to get all that back and draft picks. Right. It'll be fun. And they still have their first. They still have two second rounders next year. They got the third for Kuznetsov for the pick they already gave up for Chikrin. That's not even the one they gave up for Chikrin. That's the one they gave up for. I remember what they gave up. That was the one they gave up for Thompson. So they're doing great. Honestly, like, I've never been this positive about the Capitals. I think in the history of the show. I'm looking at all this on Cat Friendly and it's all going away tomorrow. So I fucked everything I have just said on this episode has come directly from Cat Friendly's page. So I got to learn Puckpedia and I got to learn it fast. Otherwise, I'm in big trouble on here. Yes. But overall, like with the caps did too. I think they're going to be a solid playoff team next year. And you just kind of keep going with it and just let a bunch can get the goal record and they're going to be competitive throughout it. Yeah. Oh, and they're adding that litter kid too, right? It's not confirmed. But he might be taking a look at this right now and be like, Are you already signed as an ELC? No, not yet. Okay. Yeah, but he might be taking a look at this right now and going, Hmm, maybe this is better than college. Yeah. Because this is a decent roster. Again, I don't, I'm not calling them a Stanley Cup contender, but you have to understand where my expectations are right now. They're not good. They're really not that high. So the fact that I might walk into next season being like, Okay, this might be a playoff team is leaps and bounds where I've been over the last three years. Correct. So I will absolutely take that. And man, Brian McClell, and I am so sorry for any disrespect I have ever put on you. Because this is a fucking chef. He has been bawling out for the better part of two weeks, and I love it. Yeah, he cooked. He cooked. He absolutely cooked. He killed the draft. He's killed for agency. The only questionable thing is to do boa trade and there's still upside there that that could work. So again, I have very few negative things to say about the Washington Capitals, which is a very strange sentence for me to say because I always have something negative to say about the Capitals. I think I think I've ever been nice to this team in the history of this show. It's like a bit that I come on here and just rip my other favorite team for being terrible. And even like they're not that bad. They've missed the playoffs like twice in my hockey lifetime. So, so as I was spoiled, I am. It helps. It helps. It definitely. All right, let's wrap up the show. Feed me some mailbag questions, brother. All right, we've got a good. We got an extra mailbag while we were recording. So don't even know what that one's going to be. We'll say that as a mystery bag for later. But first one coming from CC, we actually have two from CC, but the first one is thoughts on the roster for development camp, especially Matt Davis. I mean, the abs have added a lot of goalies to the system. It's, it's going to be a trick is how does that work? So did we sign him or is he just coming to the camp. It doesn't. He's not been signed yet. He wasn't draft eligible. I don't think. And he's probably going back to Denver in the fall, but this is just letting the abs get a look at him. Yeah, no, I mean, it's, it's going to be interesting. We've added a lot of goalies. So why not add a couple more. That's kind of where I'm at with that. You can never have enough goalies in the system. So, and Matt Davis had a great frozen for you made that incredible save. He pretty much backboneed DU to a national championship and goalies are complete wildcards. So why not? Yeah, I mean, there's always so many thoughts you can have on development camp roster, but the stuff I get when I look at this is Cal Richie's there, which that's important. And it's Michael Guliev is not there. So take that as you will, the bocobs not going to be there, but I think that was expected and Williams Ellers we drafted in the third round is going to be there. There's maybe a nice little break from all the the offseason moves just to see how how development camps go and how some of the guys we drafted stack up against some of the other guys that's how we found out some of the guys were drafted last year away better than we thought. So, we'll see how all of it works out. And it's just to see how a guy like Sean Barron's does in something like this, or how Zellers does. I really do want to see how Cal Richie stacks up with everyone else. And hopefully that ELC coming sooner than later. That'd be nice. Probably by the end of next year, I think. Yeah, at very, very least by the end of next year, absolutely. That's the latest it'll come. Yeah, but we'll have to say, I mean, Matt Davis, if he works out cool, but we haven't worked out we've got like 500 other goalies now that could work out so, and if he does work out great, and they can all. They can all play 20 games a year, and it'll all be perfect. All right, next next question from CC asking with some of the holes on the roster, which players can you see the abs pulling up from the Eagles possibly Ivan Ivan. Well, I like Ivan Ivan. He was one of those guys in development camp last year who really showed out at a decent AHL season. I think you're looking at foodie. If he doesn't make the roster right away. Probably coming up. Malinsky's probably going to be up there. Jacob McDonald, Callie Rosen, like all these guys TJ Titan. I think those are going to be the ones who get called it from the Eagles first. Why is I think it's really foodies, the only one who I could see making an NHL impact of the prospects. Yeah, foodies, the one where that's, that's really the only one with like a big impact attached to it where it's like there's some upside there that could turn into something. Andre Pablo played a couple of games last year. They like him in a fourth line role so you could see him maybe fill a spot every now and again, but the big one is foodie Ivan Ivan's a big wild card in there. And he could really be something because he's really shown out over the last little bit. So if he continues to do it, there's not a ton of guys in front of him. So he's not going to be denied if that's the case. So I really hope he performs with something like that because I really love to see Ivan Ivan in the NHL. I would too. And Jason pollen as well who needs to get himself a new deal and it'll be a Leagueman thing probably won't be a huge deal. But yeah, you have Pavel, you have pollen Ivan foodie. Ideally you'd really like to see Oscar Allausen start to get some NHL games but that development's coming along slowly where you wonder how much is really there to begin with. Yeah, I mean, he was drafted in my COVID draft, wasn't he? He was in the weird COVID draft where why Johnston went in the 20s and Allausen obviously went 28 to the abs. It was a weird draft where no one could really tell much of anything. Yeah, I mean, he still could be an NHL player. It's just he may not be the impact of first run pick he usually has. There's, I think there's just still a long way to go. Yeah, or Allausen's probably not going to be on the team this year, probably not going to be on them next year. You just have to start wondering like, yeah. Hopefully, hopefully there's substantial progress that gets made this year. Fingers crossed. But moving on to our next question asking with cat friendly dead do you guys know how much money the abs have left if both Landis Gog and Nuke are back. Well, that's question for you because you have kept friendly up right now. Yeah, and the answer to that question is not much because they have right now about $5.5 million. And that is with Val on player assistance, which does not count towards the cap. So the answer is in the negatives, which is concerning. But there is also that when Val comes back, his contract is going to be prorated because if they're keeping that money in mind and not just spending it, that's going to accrue against the salary cap throughout the season because now we don't have anyone so far on LTIR to start the season, last year with Landis Gog, they could not accrue money. They could not bank money. What they had is what they had this year with no one in LTIR, they can. So if Nachushkin's out of the lineup until mid to late November, they're banking that salary cap space. So technically, his contract is going to be less than that, which will help. Will it solve the problem? I'm not a mathematician. So I can't tell you that. There are a lot more higher paid people that will figure that out. It will help. I also am not entirely sure what they do otherwise. I still think there's got to be some money that gets shed, but they also still got to build the team. Correct. So these are problems that much higher paid people will figure out. But as it stands right now, the ads are kind of flocked. Yeah, I'm glad I just get to criticize the moves and not actually. Right. That's the best way to do it, right? Yeah. Yeah, glad I do not have to deal with that. Yes. But yeah, the answer is probably not what you were hoping for. It is negative money right now. But moving on to our next question from Peter, asking, do the caps make the playoffs? How many beers did OB drink this summer? Well, the answer to the beer question is infinite. I don't think he stopped beer counts for him. No, it's basically water for electric. But it's just like he probably drinks it after a workout. Yeah. It's probably more like a pre-workout. Well, what was he drinking? Does he drink like a Pepsi before every game? Yeah, he has a Pepsi on the bench or like a Diet Coke in his water bottle, everything like that. I don't know why he's freaking out about that one picture of him looking kind of big. He's like, dog, it's OB. He's just a man. He's just a man with a man. He talked about it. Well, he's just a man's man. That's the ideal male body. That's just what it is. I love Gucci Gross telling him he's lose 40 pounds, brother. I don't need it. I don't think Alex Obechkin needs your help. No. I think he's got it covered. I think the Washington Capitals, Alex Obechkin, one of the greatest players ever lived, has a plan. Yeah, he's a shit brick house. You know, I think they know what they're doing with this. I don't really think we need to. Look like that. When I'm his age, I'll be a very happy camper. Oh my God. If I looked like Alex Obechkin at any point in my life, I'm very happy. Yeah, but do I think the Cats make playoffs? As it sits right now, yes. I think they do. There are teams in the East that are going to be better. I think the doubles will be better, but I also think the Cats got better. Because, yes, they made the playoffs. They made it with 90 points. Yes. They're also better than they were last year. Do they, the 100? I don't think so. I think they're in the 95 to 99 range. I'd give it a 50-50. I'm moving towards the make it. Yeah, I'm going to, I'll give it a 51-49 they make it. I will slightly lean towards the make it. This is not cynicism against the caps. It's more the, the East is getting a little better. The Metro got better over the sauce. It's going to be tougher to make the playoffs than it was last year, but I also think they got better than they were last year. So I think it balances itself out. Agree. All right. And so our final question from Katie asking which three free agency deals from across today, do you think we're the best bang for the buck and what were the three worst? Okay. I talked about my best. I think that Sam Reinhardt deal for Florida is a joke. Like that is crazy value for a guy who had 70 goals. My other two best ones. Oof. I think my one of them on there for me is Victor Robertson. I think that's a great deal. Yep. I like the Drew Ann signing. I think that's another that's probably like my two on biased on that one, but 2.5 million for a guy who's going to play top line minutes is pretty good value. Oof. I'm trying to run through the rest real quick in my head. I like the Marsha show move. I do. I think that's probably up there. He's 42 goals scored and you're getting 5.5. I think that's up there too. I think the Drew and one just I don't think that's biased. He took true genuine discount for one year in a way that they be kind of fucked if they did this didn't have. I really do think it's one of the best deals. I agree with Arbudson and I like the Marsha so deal as well. Because that's the thing about this. There wasn't a ton of moves. I was just like, oh, what a great move. I like the Pesci move for New Jersey too. Yeah, that one's pretty good too. I have some concerns about Pesci away from Slavin, but he's good enough. I think there's enough there in New Jersey that he's going to be fine. Yeah. But just there wasn't a ton of moves. I was just like, wow. Yeah, that's real smart. Yeah. Good stuff. I like the Warren Fogle one. Yeah. Fogle's a good one, but it's blocked by the fact that the Kings are just kind of nothing. Yeah. Like one of the top three worst. I mean, we talked about a lot of them. Dole Edmondson. Dole Edmondson's one. Matt Dumba, Ilia Labushkin, another one. No goal. He's really got a crazy contract, which is always good. Taylor Stevenson. Taylor Stevenson's a rough one. That's going to be rough. Trying to think of some of the other really long deals that got signed today. I don't like the Sean Monahan one for Columbus. Yeah, I don't like that. I'm glad you brought that up. I don't like that one a ton either. I mean, Minnesota is isn't 4.35 a lot for Jake Middleton. Yeah. It's a lot that they also gave trend in a lot. So. I don't know what Minnesota's doing. Minnesota's just trying to build bully teams, which I mean, that's what they do. I think like my least favorite one is probably. Oh, yeah. I mean, Stevenson's up there, but I like Jammer. Stephen says a player. I think Sean Monahan's probably my least favorite one. I just like for Columbus, it's just one of those deals where it's like, I mean, Monahan's fine. But you're Columbus. It doesn't do anything for you. I think Stevenson's the worst one just because the age and the length and there's just. The upside is limited with that deal. And Joel Edmondson, I think is right there with it because he's just not good. Chandler Stevenson's at least good. Joel Edmondson is not. So I don't understand. Try to think what else like there was a lot of deals. I was like, huh? But nothing that's like, I just, the Ekman Larson one concerns me. Yeah, that one's not great. The caps are enough caps. Excuse me. The, the Leafs are just going to be a very interesting team. But you don't come to this podcast to listen about the Leafs because we talk enough. Another podcast talk about the Leafs enough. So. Yeah, I mean, I really. The Samcoast one, I think, could be bad. I think it could. Even then, it's only for four years. Yeah, I don't like the Brady Shay one. I really don't like the Brady Shay. That's a tough contract. I don't hate Brady Shay as a player, but I just, I don't get it. Yeah, I don't get what's perceived to be so special. Yeah, he's a good. Seven millions a lot. I love that there's a dwarf, but that's a long contract for our player like him who kind of wears out his welcome in like two years. Yeah, and I'd get it more if Shay was younger, but he's 30 and you're given a seven year contract, seven million dollars to a 30 year old. It was good, but he's not going to stay that way for very long. Yeah, I think it's pretty much it. Yeah, I don't know. There's just, there's deals like they're not terrible. It's like that's just a little bit too much money. And you can't really say like any deal that San Jose or Chicago sign is bad because those contracts are just to get them to a cap floor. Right. And also none of them were really that bad to begin with. Yeah, so like when I think I learned to fully for four years at six millions a lot. Yeah, but San Jose's got to have players around celibranium will Smith. So why not? Yeah, like, why not like Wenberg's decent enough for them. And Bertuzzi going to Chicago, Tarovine and going to Chicago fine good deals. Nothing really to hate that much with stuff like that. Yeah, I think it's pretty much it. Yeah, I think I mean for the how many signs are we at 182. Had a couple more trickling over the last little bit. I think we did pretty well trying to cover at least most of the lead. I don't think we missed anything major. Yeah, I don't think we missed anything major yet, but. There's time. See. There's time. But yeah, it's been a good 90 minutes. So I think it's probably a good enough place to stop as any. Yeah, and we'll be back at some point this week. Haven't decided yet, but we'll be back with another episode. Probably Thursday. No, that's fourth of July. We're probably busy. Yeah, we'll figure something out. You'll hear from us again. Yeah, it'll be two episodes this week. Enjoy fourth of July.
