Reviewing the Avalanche's 2024 Draft Class - S4

The 2024 draft is in the books, and the Avalanche made a total of nine selections after trading out of the first round and stockpiling picks. They also took the first goalie of the draft, Ilya Nabokov with their first pick, and two additional goalies later in the draft. Will Ilya Nabokov develop into the star goalie that the Avalanche haven't been able to develop so far in their history? Will the quantity over quality approach to this draft pay off in the long run? Also time is running out on potential moves with Ross Colton and re-signing Jonathan Droun before July 1st. On the hockey podcast network, here's your hosts, Griffin Youngs and Christian Boulet. Hello everybody, welcome back to another edition of the Tell It Abs It Is podcast on the hockey podcast network. I'm Griffin Youngs joined by Christian Boulet as always as the 2024 draft is in the books and the elves don't really make any huge splashes, I would say. They trade out of the first round and get a couple more picks. They trade it back in the third round again, get a couple more picks. Ultimately, they pick nine times in this draft and use three of them on goalies, including their first pick, which ends up being Ilya Nabakov from Russia, the first goalie taken in the draft period. Overall, the draft itself was pretty interesting, but for the elves, just not a ton of storylines coming out of it. Yeah, is this Nabakov related to have any Nabakov at all? He's not. Damn, that would have been like a weird connection there. But yeah, just like you said, it was for the elves, I'm more shocked that more news didn't come out and that they actually just stockpiled their prospects covered because for the past three, four years, this hasn't been what this team does is pick in the middle rounds. They're usually long gone for players on the team. So it was it was an interesting draft. I'm trying not to be disappointed with it because I imagine McFarland and Co have a bigger plan in place. But in my mind, I went into this thinking the elves are going to make like a big trade or something was going to happen. And in turn, it was just they were smart. They took advantage of teams that were wanting to move up and they got a lot of draft picks. So oh, no, it's not bad. The picks three goalies in the first out of those nine picks is interesting to say the least. But overall, I mean, it's way too early to tell if this draft is going to be successful. We probably have four or five years before we'll know if this draft was successful or not. Considering the amount of goalies, it might be like six or seven before this draft class is going to be any good for the abs. And I wouldn't say I'm I think I'm with you, we're like, I don't feel disappointed. Disappointing it is the wrong word to use. I'm just not like blown away or anything like that. And I don't think that means anything from me because again, I'm not the most educated person when it comes to draft prospects. And the they just didn't take any of the big names that I wanted. So that just to me alone, a disappoint, but Nabokov himself, we can talk about that first, the abs take him at 38th overall. They trade back with Utah for the 24th overall pick and they get the 38th pick along with the 71st overall pick and then a next year, second round pick, which belongs to the Rangers. That piece of business in itself, I think is fantastic. You trade 14 spots, which for a late first, early second is not that much. And a lot of good players were falling at that point on the board. They pick up another third and then they traded back with that third round pick as well to pick up another fifth round pick or you keep it up with me so far. There's a lot happening here and also get a second round pick next year. It belongs to the Rangers. It's probably going to be later in the second round. Still, it's a good trade piece, but to that point, exactly. I think the chances that the abs use that pick are not great. That is just something that they can use at the trade deadline for something because you look at this draft board for next year, it's not great at all. They have no first round pick, no second round pick, no third round pick and now they at least have one second. Even if it's a late second, the trade deadline next year, we would have to be preemptively upset if they didn't have anything to trade at that point. So I like that bit of business a lot for them and this is a very interesting pick in the backup because this is his fourth year of draft eligibility. He's 21 years old. He's not a young guy. He's the oldest guy in the draft, I believe, but this is a guy who was just the playoff MVP in the KHL and just absolutely tore up the last few months in the KHL and is not going to take five years to come over. His contract expires at the end of this KHL season. So if he lights it up again, we're already going to start having the Evan watching KHL games and keeping us updated on wins. This guy coming over the abs again, we're just making him into a full time KHL watcher at this point. But this past season, the back of was a 942 in 23 playoff games. He went 16 and six his regular season. He was a 930. He went 23, 13 and three. So I mean, that's going up against men and KHL players, I'd put it just under the KHL in terms of talent. So to already have that at 21 years old and to already have one significantly at that level, I think is worth a lot and 21 it's a double edged sword because he's already been passed over a lot in the draft. A lot of this is based on his recent performances, but there's also a lot more maturity that's already there and a lot more NHL readiness that could potentially already be there. So maybe compared to the guys they took in the fifth round or maybe talking two to three years for a Nabokov instead of six to seven kind of thing. Yeah, it's going to be interesting because if there's one thing Russia is good at, it's producing gold tenders. Probably what they're best at. Yeah. There's a lot of very good Russian goalies, a lot of really good ones. And basically the way I just heard what you were saying is we just drafted the next Igor Shastirkin. Yeah. If anyone else did it, I wouldn't think that, but the abs did it. So obviously he's Shastirkin, Sorokin, Vasilevsky, he's better than all of them personally. He's better than all of them and it's going to be a great move. And we were talking about it in our draft preview show and I asked Adam about it. I was like, what is the deal with goalies? Why are they not drafted? I wish I would have known that the abs were going to draft three goalies in this draft and we could have asked him a lot more questions about the goal tenders because as it turns out, a position we thought the abs wouldn't draft, they draft three of them. So I wish we could go back and ask him about Nabokov now. Yeah. And Nabokov, he's 6'1", so he's not a massive goal. He's currently 179 pounds, he's 21, like I said earlier, and he doesn't blow anyone away with his size. Generally, you prefer your goalies to be larger, but still at 6'1", it's bigger than me, it's still a decent enough size. Pretty short. Yeah, pretty, you know, compared to you, everybody should. I mean, it seems like a lot of his success is that he's just, he's very smart and he's very good at cutting down angles. There's still some stuff to work on in his game, but he's a lot more mature than a lot of the goalies in this class already. And it seems like the abs, this is just my speculation I did not hear anything about this, it just seemed like they didn't really like this draft all that much. That I think once Cole Iserman came off the board 'cause he fell all the way to 20 and almost gave us hope that he'd fall all the way to 24. Once that happened, you started to see Evan and Jesse start being like, okay, well now, now they're moving around the draft floor, they're picking up the phone and they're talking to a lot of people 'cause it sounds like they really were targeting Nabokov and worked super impressed by many other guys in this draft and knew they could get him for sure at 38. They could have even gotten him later than that and it just seems like they really valued this guy and their goal tending depth now that Anandans and NHL are he's not great. No, it sucks. It sucks. And now it's now they've got three guys to work on. I mean, you have to be very honest with yourself here. This is a project. This is very much a project. Every goalie they just picked is a project. Every person you pick in the NHL draft is a project, goalies are triple that. You are lucky to see most goalies before they're 25 and I would say of these three, I think there's maybe a 50% chance that only one of them ever puts on an abs uniform, maybe less than that. I'd say that's I mean, goalies, they're they're total crapshoots, especially when they're this young, but at least with Nabokov, you have a couple extra years of tape, a couple extra years of development, and now if all goes to plan only one more year in the KHL, which is still a very high level, hopefully he puts up similar numbers again, then you can bring him over. He's eligible for the AHL pretty much immediately. You can get him used to North American ice and cut down a lot of those same mistakes. And if all goes according to plan, start to get him into the NHL while he's still relatively young. It's going to be interesting to see what the abs do because over the abs history, they've done a lot of really good things. One thing they have never done is develop a goaltender. They've never been able to do that. They used to sand and ends the closest we have to a homegrown star. And I wouldn't even say he's a star, a competent NHL goalie. And he's played what 14 regular season games? Yeah, not many and he's very up there. Yeah. Probably one of the biggest success stories in the abs history of developing a goaltender. It's just not something they've done. It's just not something they've done. So we'll have to see. I have complete faith that they can eventually develop one. It's just been, if you look at the way that the abs, like how quickly they rose into being like a Stanley Cup contender, you really didn't have time to develop a goalie. Like you look at the team and the way it was built. You trade for group hour. He's good. And for Darcy Kemper, he's really good. And then you get Alexander Giorgiev. It almost was just to sign that Chris McFarlane had to be like, we can't just expect that there's going to be a goal tender available every three to four years. We just can't expect that. I think they were incredibly relieved to have used this on and available to them. It's not a bad thing to just have goalies in your system. My philosophy, if I was a general manager in the draft, honestly, I'm picking a goal every year, just like if I have a six round pick, I'm taking a flyer on a guy. Is he at least halfway decent? I don't know. Maybe he'll be something. Just kind of thing. And I think picking three is interesting. And this pick in particular, there were still some guys on the board that I liked, but obviously I'm not a scout. I didn't watch many of these guys. Like they passed on Andrew Boschia and Cole Hudson and other guys like Artemana, who goes to Carolina and Moogly, who I really enjoyed over the last little while. But it seems like with Nabakov, there's a bit more of a sure thing where he's older, more tape. You're pretty reasonably confident that this guy is going to play at the NHL level someday. Is that ceiling going to be there for him? That turns him into a top 10 goalie in the league? Or is this going to be more of a Frankie kind of goalie? Which is not a bad thing, but maybe you're looking for a little more security in your net. And also, again, I don't think they liked this draft class very much. It kind of sucks that they had all these picks in this draft and not last year's draft. Yeah. Well, I mean, they traded back for all of them and who knows, you get nine picks. Maybe one of them is going to hit. Yeah. Maybe one's going to hit. And speaking of Pablo Francis, that little bit of news came out that he's going to be back with the abs during the development camp, which, hey, I'm cool with that. Frankie was a good goaltender. And maybe he can speak to the goalies about not hurting your hips and stretching. So we'll have to see about that. But that was cool to see Frankie back. Peter Boudai got a promotion to the abs so the Eagles don't have a goaltender coach anymore. So that's going to be another interesting tidbit. But overall, when it comes to it, like did, this is going to be a dumb question. Shusterkin played in the KHL, right? I'm like 99% sure he did. Yes. Yeah. Because he fell with a fifth. Vasilevsky was a first round pick, right? What was Sorokin? Was Sorokin a first round pick? Definitely not. Sorokin. I can find that. But he was a third round pick in 2014. Yeah. So questions are really good. And Sorokin's 62, he's one inch taller than Nabokov. Yeah. I mean, it's a crapshoot with goalies. I feel confident in the fact that Nabokov had a really strong KHL playoffs and 942 was nothing to sneeze at. Like that is still really good no matter what league you're playing in. And hopefully that translates to the NHL. Yeah. I mean, and you look at a lot of Shusterkin and Sorokin's numbers in the KHL around a similar age. They're up there in the 930s and the 940s, sometimes even lower than that with like a 912 or a 910 even. So it's not, it's obviously not a direct comparable because no two players are alike. But there is also a strong chance that you are picking up on a guy who at a young age is already doing very well in a men's league and is only going to continue to develop further. And guys like Shusterkin and Sorokin took a long time to come over to their teams. We're talking about potentially one year, if all goes well. And the abs have done their work with KHL guys in the past and bringing guys over and treating them well. We just did the whole thing with Kovalenko. So I imagine there's at least a strong enough relationship there and enough of a established trust that I don't think it's going to be that big of a problem. And the sooner you can get your hands on this guy, the better. Right. So we'll have to see. I think that one year in the KHL is just a really, really big thing. And who knows? Maybe he doesn't even play in the KHL this season. Maybe he comes over right away kind of like Mishkov did. But we'll have to see. Yeah, we'll see. I mean, if it's only the one year, I just don't think anyone's going to have a problem with that. Because again, you want him to play and you want him to continue to play and develop. And if he comes over to even the AHL right away, he's not going to have the same opportunities because he's going to have to learn North American ice. And the Eagles are trying to win hockey games, you know, because yeah, the AHL is kind of a developmental league. But that's secondary because there's still teams trying to win cups. There's still teams trying to win hockey games. So when the backup comes over, there's going to be that learning curve. So they're going to let him stay in the KHL for this season go up against still very solid competition and let him continue to develop. And maybe he dominates again. And now this entire season turns into, well, the abs just totally stole this Russian goalie. Is he going to be the next Sorokin, just Erkin Vasilevsky kind of thing? Personally, I don't think that I'm not going to get my hopes up there just because he's a Russian goalie. But there is that chance that with numbers like that already at a young age, that he's just going to continue to grow and get better. And confidence is a big thing. He just won playoff MVP. That does a lot for a guy, especially a younger guy. It helps. It helps. That's for sure. It helps. But what about the other picks? Who are you liking? Who are you liking now these other night and picks? The one that I ultimately liked the most from the abs is the defenseman that they picked in the sixth round, I believe in this draft and Tory Pitner, who they drafted him in right away the phrase immediately came out on him on just how smart this guy is and how well he plays the game. It almost reminded me of a lot of the picks they made late in the draft last year where people couldn't praise enough of their hockey IQ and just how smart they played the game and stuff like that. Tory Pitner seems to me to be a project, just pretty much like everybody else, but seemed like a very strong two-way defenseman where he caught my attention almost immediately, way more than a lot of the other guys they drafted. I like that. I like that. Who's that super young kid they drafted? Ah, the super young one, I totally just lost the page. I'm still trying to learn everybody's name here. But the super young guy that they drafted, I believe that was, I believe, I'm looking at the wrong way. Was that Curran? Was it the first forward they drafted that was the young one that was, was Fisher, wasn't it? Yeah, you're right. You're right, was Fisher. He was barely draft eligible and they got him. It's just a crapshoot when it comes to this and you're talking to two guys who aren't the greatest with draft prospects. We made that very well, very well known. But there are some— The Bellers, that was the young one, 77. Bellers, the young one, yeah. Yeah. But you just never know, I mean, we'll have to see what they're going to be. But like looking at the elite prospect cards for Zeller, I mean, he seems like a solid player in his prep league, 111 points in 54 games, that's pretty good, that's pretty good. Yeah. And again, when you get a guy this young who's like not even really 18 yet, it's a young guy. There's a lot of raw talent there. If he's showing you this kind of raw potential at a young age, we've seen a lot of guys who just like Nabaka, who are over-agers who come into the draft and light it up and get drafted the next year. If you're getting a guy who's barely draft eligible and is going to take another step next year, that's a very good chance to take on a guy. I agree. I agree. It's going to be interesting to see where they land with all of these people. But I mean, I like what they did with the draft. I am still just surprised that they actually picked nine players. And now you look at the draft prospect cover. It's a lot more full than it was two years ago. A lot full. Like I don't think the earth got shook up on their prospect corps. I mean, Cal Richie's still number one, you know, who he is probably still number two. I mean, they still picked two really high guys last year. Nabaka is just going to be kind of a wild card that you don't know a ton about. It's like every goalie is. I think I think every prospect pool needs a good goalie along the way. It's good to know that you just kind of have that in your back pocket. Like, well, what if Nabaka works out? But we've also seen when you bring up Shastirkin and Sorokin, we've also seen guys like Samson off in Washington, who was a high pick in 2015, all this time waiting to come over. He comes over and he's okay. It's not great. It's fine. He's a goalie. You know. He'd be a good backup goalie. Yeah. So I mean, just you never know with these guys. Gold tending is almost an entirely mental position. And the other guys they picked, I'll be honest, I just, I don't know a ton about, but taking three goalies is weird. I will say that, especially back to back in the fifth round. But again, it's not a, it's not a bad thing to just have goalies on call. Guys that pick Luca Clotier and Ivan Yunin, they're going to have chances. And again, these are the picks that they got for Ben Myers and Thomas to tar over the last year or so. So you can think of it as just free goalies to develop. And you never, again, with goalies, you just don't know these in the late rounds, I almost feel better about taking goalies than I do forwards because they're, yes, I completely agree. Watch an unknown quantity where you're taking a skater in the, the late rounds. Okay. These something some day, they're obviously have a lot to work on. They're a 18 year old who's got picked in the sixth round. They might be able to rack in an HL lineup when it comes to goalies. It seems like you're either getting a starter or absolutely nothing and I'd still almost rather take that chance in the fifth round, especially with these picks, especially when you have nine picks, like I didn't like it at first, but I've kind of talked myself into it over the last hour or so with these two in particular, you really just never know. But you also do have to realize it's probably going to be, if you see these guys, it's going to be like maybe six years if that even goalies, especially the young ones, take a long time. It took on in a long time to even get to where he is right now, which is a bad because they dropped him when he was 18 and he's what he just turned 22 23. I'll double check that again. But yeah, Ana is 24 right now. It was 24. It took six years. It drafted him in 2018 in the third round and she just made an impact, like for a real genuine impact at the NHL level this year, and that's a good goalie. Yeah, but they took their time with them too. Exactly. But you have to do it with goal. Second you rush a goal either done. You can't get that back. It's very rare that a goalie can come in and be good in the NHL right away, but who isn't goalie that like got drafted like Mark Andre Flurry, probably the last one. Yeah. And even it's a it's a different time and Mark Andre Flurry was a very special case. He was the last goalie to go number one, probably the last one ever. I don't think a goalie will ever go number one again. Yeah. And he actually lived up to expectations as much as we like to dog on Mark Andre Flurry, he lived up to expectations. He's going to be a Hall of Famer one day, so you can't even argue with it. Wow. And that was a monumental moment where we said something nice about Mark Andre Flurry. Yeah. He is going to be a Hall of Famer, even if I wouldn't agree with it, he is going to be a Hall of Famer. Yep. He will be. So it's just because even what Vasilevsky when he was drafted, he had like three years before he got the reins from Bishop, right? Yeah. I mean, he pretty much made his debut in the 2015 final. Yeah. And then Shasturkin came over and he was pretty good right away. And even then, like these high end goalies, like Spencer Knight and Askarov, where Askarov was almost guaranteed to be a sure thing. And he might still be, but the predators just gave UC Sorrows an eight year extension after picking that guy a couple of years ago. And Spencer Knight is not a fair example to use just because of a lot of off-eye stuff going on at the same time. But they draft him immediately after giving, or which was the other way around, they draft Knight, then they give Vasilevsky the eight year contract like a few days later. It's just weird in hockey, even the high end goalies that Shirley are not going to miss. Sometimes they do. And sometimes they do hit. Jay Cottinger hits. Yeah. I still have faith that Spencer Knight's going to be good. Yeah, I do. I mean, he's been good at the NHL level. There's just been a lot of things getting in the way. Yeah. And now, Vasilevsky is really good again. So we'll have to see. But overall, man, fun draft experience. I thought the sphere was awesome. That was a really cool. I know you didn't get to watch too much because you were on the flight. It was cool. I got to watch more of it than I thought I would. I got to pick number nine and I got back for 17. So I only-- Yeah, pretty cool. But that's the thing I was going to lead into my next point with it, dude. The first round of the draft, we were just dragging that bitch on. I thought it was-- I thought it went kind of fast. Why not? No. But-- No, dude. Like, it just drives me crazy that we have to put this drama in for the number one pick. We knew Macklin Celebrator was going to be the pick before we even knew who was going to win the lottery. Why do we have to sit here for the full five minutes to wait for them to pick Macklin Celebrator? Like, it's just ridiculous. I get it's an event, but come on, let's speed it up here. And I thought ESPN did an OK job of the coverage. I just speed it up. Speed up the process. Yeah. Let's know that I think about it. That started at seven and ended at like 10.30. Right. It was three and a half hours. It just sucked. I mean, just-- I'm speaking as a biased apps fan. You wait two hours to see what your team is going to do, and then you just trade out of it. And it's like, well, I just wasted two and a half hours. Yeah. Okay. Well, you're right. That's a little too long at that, especially when you get to rounds two through seven, and they just start speeding. Yeah. They got through two through seven faster than they did the first round. Yeah. Like, we were done with the second round in like 45 minutes. Right. And I get it. Like, they have to do these interviews with all the players. And that works for the NBA and the NFL, because those players are personable. The players that come in-- They're also making a much more immediate impact. Right. Yeah, they tell-- you're talking to 18-year-olds, like, some of them are still 17. They're not going to be good on national television. Like, it's just-- is the way it is. So it was-- it was just a very long process. I know it's going to be long. Drafts-- first round's going to be long. It doesn't need to be three hours. If it's two hours, perfect. But three hours, I was like, Jesus Christ, well, let's get this moving here. But honestly, I think that just have the draft at the sheer every year. What? It's not going to happen anymore, because the draft is now decentralized. Yeah. So even still-- I mean, I thought they knocked it out of the park with the sphere. I thought that was-- I think that's the best venue they've ever done. I thought the screens were really cool. I thought the draft event in general was just very cool. And I mean, I think at this point, I think we should all just give up on the first round ever being exciting. It's just not. Nope. It's exciting to see, like, what guys go early. But in terms of trades, it's just pick trades. There's never going to be a massive trade in the first round. It doesn't happen. That's all day two stuff. Yep. All day two stuff. Who was the guy who went three? That was a surprise. Sonnet? Beckett Sennakey goes three to Anaheim. And he even he was like, holy fuck. Yeah. That was a great reaction. That was the best moment of the draft. And it was unscripted, because he looked at his dad and goes, oh my god, what the fuck? That was perfect. Like, that was the best moment of the draft for the NBA interview. I mean, he's just like, I don't know what to do with my hands. He was like, Ricky Bobby. I don't know what to do with my hands. Yeah. I mean, they good for him, at the very least. I don't think anyone had Beckett Sennakey going three. There started to be a lot of chatter. As we got closer to the draft, he was going to go higher than people think. But the docs, they definitely passed on a lot of guys to. They did. They did. They really believe in him. That's their thing. But there were a couple of teams I thought did really well in this draft. And I thought the Habs did a great job. They got Demodov at five and Hay get 21. Like, those are two guys that just fell right into their lap. Yeah. They fell right into a lap and they did exactly what they did. They took the best player available. I like that. Can we talk about the report that came out about Columbus and Chicago? What is Columbus doing? You get a chance to get Chicago's first round pick next year unprotected. And you pass on that? Was it unprotected and plus? Yeah. Unprotected first round and they were going to give them something else for the fourth overall pick. I know. I know. Give it up. The fourth is hard. And maybe Caden Lindstrom is going to be a really good player, but that's that I don't know. That's tough. First off, why is Chicago even doing that? That's stupid. Really value Caden Lindstrom. But like that's the thing, like Chicago, you've been really smart in this rebuild. Why would you throw it all? Like that would have just been ludicrous for them to do. I cannot believe like Columbus did them a favor by not accepting that. Yeah. That's just too wrong somehow making a right. Yeah. But that is just a crazy. I cannot believe Don Woodell turned that down because there's a very real chance that Chicago is what going to be picking top three again next year? Probably. Yeah. I mean, they got Lebshinov at number two, obviously Badards going another year, but they're not anywhere close. No, even if it's not okay first, that's still, I mean, it's a gamble because the fourth overall pick is a very high pick. If Chicago is even a little better fit their sixth overall pick kind of thing, but also Columbus isn't going to be very good next year. Right. They could have two top five picks next year. Right. I don't know. That's a, I don't, I don't envy Don Woodell. That's a hard decision to make. It is. But I don't know. That mindset is still, I feel like Columbus is in the mind that they think they're closer than they are because if you're truly like, if that offer was made to say, I don't know if they think, I don't think Don Woodell thinks that because that team is not, that team is not his baby. That is a team mold in his image. I think, I think that might have a lot to do with it where it's just, this is your first draft as a general manager. You want to start putting your stamp on this team so you don't want to kick the draft down another year kind of thing, it could just be like a pride thing is I want to start making my picks and building my team. Yeah, because could you imagine if San Jose was offered that they would have accepted that in a heartbeat? Not for first, but not for first, but like if San Jose was in that fourth position, I would have taken that trade. Yeah, they're taking that 100%. But I thought that trade was interesting. And I think there were some real winners, like you said, the haves are one of them. They're caps, I thought, did really well. I dog on the caps a lot on this show. It's part of my brand. They killed the draft. I thought they did fantastic, where they get Tarek Parkeskak, where I was pissed they'd passed on Cole Eiserman at first, but I started to look at what Parkesak's done. That's a really, really good player that they drafted and potentially even a steal. And the two guys they got in the second round, Lane Hudson and Moogly, really good defense and the fact that they got the 43rd overall pick for Beck Malenstein, that's a really good game. Lane Hudson or Cole Hudson? It might have been a wrap. That's a great question, actually. They got the Hudson, the new Hudson that's there now. That's actually, I actually don't even remember if it was Lane Hudson, right? Yeah, I think Lane Hudson plays for the Canadians, right? The Hudson in this draft, you know who I refer to, but even still, I thought the caps did really well in this draft. And the fact that they got that pick for Malenstein, who I like and it is Cole Hudson, but the fact that they got that pick for Malenstein, who I like, good player, solid fourth line player, but you got that for him, that that's really, really good business. And they got Logan Thompson today too for two thirds, which don't know why Vegas is doing that, but I'm happy with it. So all of a sudden, the caps have had a pretty solid off season, even with the Du Bois thing, which I've warmed up to a little bit. They got Manji Apani for a next year's second and then got a better second this year for Malenstein. So that is essentially a wash in itself. And the first three players in the draft, I liked all of them. If they do well in free agency, that's a really good off season. Their playoff team, technically, they can only go up. Obviously. Yeah. We didn't talk about it, but that picture of OV that I said to you was just that that's just the way a man should look. Yeah. He looked very, very fatherly dad bod to the court. And I said to you, it's like, okay, everyone's clowning on him. Imagine that crashing into you at 22 miles an hour. It's just, I don't think you can make it. It's honestly just even more shaming to me and you that he looks like that and he's the greatest school scorer of all time. Right. Has he ever been ripped? I don't think he's ever been ripped. He's, oh, Vetchkin, he's just a truck. Yeah. But you can be as ripped as you want. You're not going to move him. Yeah. I mean, he was going great, like 25. So great. He's great. He's great. He's great. You're in the league. Yeah. So he just looked very manly in that picture. If you haven't seen it, he just looks like a typical dad, like a 40 year old dad. That's what he looks like. And if we're being honest, that's what Alex Ovechkin is. He's basically a 40 year old dad. Yeah. He's going to have a record next year and no one's going to have a say after that. But I liked what the caps did. You mentioned with Coliserman, I really thought he was going to fall to the apps. I really did. It really looks like it for a second there. It sucks that he went to the Islanders because he's going to be so wasted there. Yeah. Like he's just going to be like, he would kind of chance to follow a really good team and get added to like a really fun team instead he falls to the least fun team of them all, the Islanders. Now, he's going to end up being boring as all hell there. He's going to be Oliver Wollstrom again, where they pick up a great scorer in the draft and then they're going to try to get him to play their way, you know, we need to stop doing this. We need you to play better defense. You can teach a guy to play defense and not just completely neuter his best qualities. But if they just let Eiserman do his thing, it might turn out to be a really good pick for them. But as long as Luz there, they're going to fucking massacre this kid. I know. That sucks. Who are your other winners from the draft? I really like the flames getting parak at number nine. I personally think he's going to end up being one of the best defense men out of the draft. And a lot of people were passing on him for not very justifiable reasons. Because again, his offensive talent is probably the best in the class. Yes, his defense needs work. But again, we're talking about a child. He's going to get better at it. So you take a chance on a guy who has that kind of talent where you look out, work from a car and Quinn Hughes, like that's the new age defense men. These are the guys that are going to help carry the league for a long time. So Calgary getting that guy, I think is huge for them. And obviously the Blackhawks had three picks in the first round. I thought they did pretty decently with theirs. And I didn't like that the stars got a meal hemming. That just feels like such a stars pick, doesn't it? Yeah. Does feel like I hate the fact that the wild got to see Booyam. I hate that. They traded up for that. And I didn't like that they got, who was the guy that we were talking about last episode, that small defense men that ended up falling to the fifth round. I blanking on. Oh, I forget. Keep you hard. Keep you hard. They got him in the fourth round. And the fact he fell in the fourth round, the abs had to pick before that. I would have really liked them to pick him up there. And even said he goes next pick to Minnesota, which, yeah, that's a tough sell for me. Very tough sell. That's, I thought the rest of the central had good drafts. Yeah. The wild did really well, man. Yeah. They got Booyam. They got Ryder Ritchie in the second round and they got Kivi R you in the fourth round. That's a really good draft. Yeah. Kind of sucks. I hate that. I hate that so much. I hate it. What else are you going to do? Like you said, Chicago, I thought to really well, I thought San Jose knocked it out of the park. It's, it's easy to say they did good in the draft. We'll see what these players look like. Macklin celebrating is awesome. I think he's going to be great, kind of crazy that stat they put up. I don't know if you saw that that he's the highest drafted Hobie Baker winner ever. But that was kind of a crazy stat. A little surprising. You would have thought it was kill my car before that. So I think what car was picked fourth. So no, no, it was Adam Fantilly, excuse me, because Fantilly was picked third. But overall, man, this was a really fun draft. I, I want to, like, I want to be a person who like gets involved in prospects and like gets really good at it. I just can't find myself to be that person. I just, I don't have the brain space for it. It's so time consuming because you can't like halfway be in the prospects. You have like, you got to know all of these people and like in the fifth round have detailed reports on every single guy that's getting picked. So I want to know more about prospects, but I'll let people who are much smarter than me teach me because I just, I just do not have that kind of time. No, I just, I wish I could be a prospect person. I just, my brain can't handle it. I'm not smart enough to handle it. I can barely handle hockey. And you're going to add in 18 year olds like I, I just, I can't do it. It's a lot, but there were a lot of trades that were made today too. And I love talking about those. And day two of the draft, real hockey fans know day two of the draft is the real draft. Like you get your, your number one overall picks and a couple of trade ups on day one. But day two is when the real stuff starts because then you start to see a lot of the late steals go in the second round. And then you start to get the trades. And there were a couple of bangers today, Utah at the center of a lot of them. And they get Michael Sergachev from the lightning for JJ Moser, Connor geeky, a seventh in this year's draft and a second in next year's draft, which is going to be Utah's pick. We'll get to the rest of them, but this, this is the, the blockbuster that everyone's talking about. And Sergachev, I did not see this one coming at all. I forget. He's still so young, he's still 26, he's been around forever. He was part of the dream trade. He was part of the original Drew and trade that bought Drew and the Montreal as before he even started in the league. And so Utah is not messing around and Tampa is desperately trying to clear a lot of space because I don't think the stamco's thing is going how they expect him. Yeah, I don't think it's going. I was shocked to see Sergachev got moved, even more shocked to find that it was Utah that was taking him on. And they, like, Sergachev is a very, very good defenseman. He broke his leg last year, and that's really what kind of slowed him down. But the year before that, he was the quarterback one on their power play. He's a very, very good defenseman. And I think this is a win-win trade for both teams. Utah gets, but keep going, I don't know, but keep going. Yeah, I mean, Utah gets a number one defenseman to pair with Sean Dursey. That's a pretty good defensive pair. And Tampa Bay clears cap space to re-sign Stephen Samco's. So I think that's really what they were trying to accomplish was to sign Stephen Samco's. And that is a win in their books. But this has got to be just so disheartening, if you're an Arizona Coyotes fan, to just go through all the shit with this team. And then the first year they moved to Utah, they started actually, like, capitalizing on all the draft capital they have. So it's not easy what an owner that wants to do anything will do. But it's the same general manager. This is Bill Armstrong. And now he is unleashed and is actually trying to build a team. Yeah. Like I feel bad for Arizona Coyotes fans. Like that is, that's tough. That's a tough one because Utah, I thought, had a really good draft. They get Teja Ginla. Who'd they pick with the abs pick? I forget. They got, I'm blanking on everybody's name. I know it happened yesterday, but it feels like a couple of days ago. Yeah. Booty on. Booty on. And then on top of the draft they had last year, like every Utah is building something good. And that's kind of scary when they're in your division. But back to the circuit shift trade, I love it for Utah. And like I said, I think it's a win for Tampa Bay because they can resign. Samco's, I don't think it's a win on the ice because circuit chips and good defenseman. And arguably they're only like young piece outside of Brayden point. So not really a win on the ice, but you'll get to keep Stephen Samco's in the lightning sweater. So why did they trade for Ryan McDonough? Again, if they needed to clear space, this badly that they're willing to trade Sirgachev, who is right now at least their second best defenseman and significantly younger than Victor Hedman, who's probably going to get an extension on July 1st. We all know that. Victor Hedman bounced back very well this year, but he's also like 33. I hope he's ready to do that again because it's Hedman McDonough, Eric Chernak, and Nick Perbix and now JJ Moser. This is not the same lightning team that they better have a plan. They have 16 and a half million dollars to have a plan now. So they're definitely bringing Samco's back. There's rumors that they're going to sign Jake Genssel on July 1st. But I don't know. Giving up Sirgachev is a tough price to pay. Even for keeping Samco's, I feel like there was much better ways to go about it. Who else would you trade though? Not Sirgachev, man. I feel like that's one of the guys where it's like, that's kind of a very important part of what we do and Samco's is 34. I don't know. I disagree with you, but to keep fans happy, they have to keep Samco's. But is that the only way to run a team is just, but what the... No, it's not a smart move. I completely agree with you that this is from a pure hockey sense. This is stupid, by the lightning. You trade your young defenseman a way to re-sign a 34-year-old captain. You're thinking with your heart instead of your head. Again, why did they get Ryan McDonough? I'm still just kind of lost on that. Why did they trade a second and a seventh and get Ryan McDonough at full price? Ever since that trade happened, I was like, "So are they just not keeping Samco's, then?" Yeah. And apparently, they thought they would have been able to do it while also getting McDonough and paying Samco's and keeping Sirgachev, and then they got to here, and now we're two days before free agency, and they're like, "Holy shit, we can't do this." Yeah, which should not be a surprise to anybody. And McDonough is still a fine player. I think I'm ragging on him a little too hard. He makes $6.75 million, and would you rather have Sirgachev or McDonough? I'd have Sirgachev. And I mean, some of his injury is like a common thing. He literally just... He broke his leg. Like, there's nothing he can do about that. Yeah. And he came back and played to the playoffs. Like, that's impressive. Like, he's a very good defenseman, and I completely agree, I don't think this move is smart from a hockey standpoint, but maybe the lightener just thinking, "Hey, we're going to just have fun and go out sad." I think they really thought Samco's was going to take like $4 million bucks or something like that and just go based off of the vibes, and he was like, "Absolutely fucking not. I scored 40 goals last year." I don't know, man. It's a very, very interesting thing. And I don't like this new thing that these teams are doing where it's just like very clearly cap circumvention where they were going to offer Samco so like an eight-year deal with the anticipation that he'd just quietly retire for the last three and they put him on LTIR. Well, they're going to be $3 million a year. Yeah. Why the fuck would he sign that? Yeah. It's just like we're just clearly cap circumvention at this point because there's no way Stephen Stavco's place till he's 42, there's just no way. But also that's a guy who had 81 points, 40 goals last year, and scored in like every game in the playoffs, short as it was. You're going to give him $3 million bucks. Right. They were just thinking if we give him the full eight years, he's like, "No, he's…" There's being team friendly and then there's just being dumb. Right. You've got to find a good middle. I'm Stephen Stavco's. I deserve a little respect here from you. I understand I'm not going to ask for nine million bucks here, but you've got to at least pay him some money. Pay him some things. Right. Give him the money. If you sign him to six or seven, that's still fine. That almost seemed like a completely disrespectful offer and they were shocked and had to scramble to clear the cap space because Stephen Stavco's didn't want to get paid in vibes. Yeah. Pay him an IOU, like they'll just pay him at the end. Don't worry. He won't have to. He won't. We'll give you a free drink ticket. Yeah. You'll get a free drink ticket for the rest of your life. Thanks, man. But I mean, it's a bad hockey move. I think Surgachev's going to go to Utah and do very well and the Lightning are going to be a playoff team. I don't think they're ever going to win a cup again in this generation. I want to see what Tampa does this off season, the rest of the off season before I say the reply off team. That's a good point. Do you think they ever trade Vasilewski at some point? Not anytime soon. No, but it's we're seeing the end of a dynasty. Yeah. I mean, it comes from the cap comes for everybody. It comes for everyone and father time comes for everyone. They had both them at the same time. Right. And the Lightning do have a lot of space now to do a lot of things. Like they have 16 and a half million dollars. They can bring in Jake Genssel. They can still make a trade for another solid defenseman. They're not screwed. It's just Surgachev is a tough rice to pay just to just to keep stamco. So I think they should keep, but you also didn't need McDonough in the first place. This is what you were trying to do. Right. You can keep Surgachev and just not trade for Ryan McDonough. Right. Because of that stamco's contract right there. I didn't even look at who they had to sign. They had to sign Stamco's and they don't need to sign anyone else. Like they have to Claire and Mott and they thought that sign JJ Moser, that's probably so they don't have a ton of guys to sign. So that's not going to eat up a ton of their cap. But I just think it's a weird move for the Lightning. You backed yourself into a corner and then you had to trade your second best 26-year-old defenseman. Yeah. It's tough. It's a tough one to tough one to do. What is Chernak making? Over five. Is he really? That would have been the guy I thought would have gotten shipped out. And that one is until 2031. He's a good defenseman. I'm going to be wrong. He'll block the 95. He's not 5.2 though. A couple of years ago he was. Was he? Yeah, he was good. No cup runs for him. Good. He got the cup tax. That's how he got made so much. He got the cup tax. Yeah. He got a cup tax. And in July of 22, that was an extension. I mean, he was fine, but that's a lot of money for a long time for a guy who's fine. Yeah. But that would have been the guy you think maybe that's the cap cap to not circumstances. We're just not McDonough in the first place, which again, that move just never made sense out. How many years does McDonough have left? Two. Seriously? Again, they got no money retained. They gave up a second and panicked and then had to trade Sergey Jeff. Like this team just thought they were going to sell Samko's on the vibes. That's crazy. That's just not great general manager work. No, not great. But that's enough about Sergey Jeff. That was the biggest try. Even the last thing Tampa did. I mean, they traded Tanner Geno probably only like an hour later, which is a good move, but it goes back to the original move for Geno, which is one of the worst trades I've ever seen. We can just be honest about that. It's a really bad trade. They gave up one, two, three, four, five, six picks. That first round pick is next year's pick, by the way. They haven't even used that yet. They gave up in order, a third, a fourth, a fifth in the 2023 draft, a second in this year's draft and a first in next year's draft, which is top 10 protected and Calfoot, which I don't think they regret trading him, but there's that's a lot. That has a lot of draft picks for Tanner Geno, who played a grand total of 75 regular season games and seven in the playoffs and scored 18 points in the regular season and one in the playoffs. I was scratched the last two games of the Florida series. Yep. And then they trade him to L.A. for a fourth in this year's draft and a second in next year's draft. And I will just go back to the breeze walk quote after the Geno trade happened, basically just being like, who gives a fuck about draft picks, right? We're trying to win right now and then he goes and trades Geno for draft picks, which I just think is funny. Dude, how excited do you think Barry Trotts gets when he sees Breeze Brod's name pop up on his phone? Yeah. I mean, that wasn't even him that made that trade at that point. They just left Barry Trotts with this massive lot of draft picks that he could use for their third line checking forward. Yeah. Crazy. Easyness from Tampa Bay, but Utah made another big move. They got John Marino from the Devils. You're high on Marino. I'm not high. You like Marino. I think he's good player. I think he's okay. I think he's a very solid defensive defense man and he has enough of an offensive upside. Like he's not a flashy player, but for a team like Utah, I think he's a fantastic ad for them where he's going to bring stability to the back end that they really haven't ever had. We're just adding surrogate Chev and Marino alone gives them a semblance of a defense. That's not just here's Sean Dursey playing top minutes. And also we're just going to see if the corpse of Matt Dunba still does anything else. We really thought Checkrin was going to work out for us. We really thought Ekman Larson was going to work out for us. These are just good NHL players. Marino is not a star by any stretch, but even when he came into the league in Pittsburgh, he just just immediately that super solid guy defensively. And I think he's really going to work in Utah. He only makes $4.4 million. They gave up a late second next year, which is Edmonton's and the 49th overall pick this year, which was Washington's and got our fifth round pick actually at 153 this year. Just a good trade for Utah. They're clearly trying to just be a watchable team and Marino is going to make life easier for a lot of guys. I do like in general, Utah, like they were what, 75 points last year? Yeah. Right. And Arizona. Yeah. They could be a French playoff team next year. Yeah. That's what they're trying to do. I mean, there was not a lot of great teams in the West last year. They're just going to clearly try to build a more complete team and compete for the playoffs because they weren't immediately out of it last year. They were halfway decent for some of that season. They just fell off at the end like they always do. But bringing in a guy like Sargichev and Marino, who are like, Sargichev's 26, Marino's 27. These are good guys to have around. They're building a defense here, which they just haven't had really ever. No, it's kind of fucked that Utah is going to be good and they're in our division. It's kind of fucked. Yeah. It's just another team we have to worry about. I consider them, they're going to be closer to the blues. I think the wild are going to be better next year because they won't just be ravaged by injuries. But I think they're going to be fighting with the blues and the jets in that kind of middle tier. Because they don't even need to make the playoffs. They just have to be watchable. They have to be lovable and scrappy because that's all they have to do to sell themselves to Utah. They come close to the playoffs and dominate home ice. They're going to absolutely win that fan base over and that all moves like this are trying to do. And they're going to spend a lot of money in free agency. Yes. They're going to do a lot. So I think Utah's building the right way kind of pisses me off because that's team in the abs division. So that sucks. But I really like what Utah did. What are the big trades do we got? We talked about Logan Thompson going to Washington for two thirds. Did you see Logan Thompson was scheduled to sign autographs 30 minutes after he got traded and he did it too. Yeah. That is a fucking champ. I think that's a great move for Washington. They're spending less than two million dollars on a very solid goalie tandem of Charlie Lindgren and Logan Thompson. And the Penguins get Kevin Hayes from the Blues and also a second round pick for future considerations. So the last year's debate of should the abs get Kevin Hayes? Yeah, probably a good thing we didn't do that, but also didn't really work for us either with Ryan Johan since we can't talk all that much. But I think it's good. The Penguins got a second round pick with it because I don't think Kevin Hayes solves any of their problems. Nope. It would be a great locker room guy. Allegedly. Allegedly and Philly wasn't, but I blame that more on Tour de Rilla. Yeah, that's probably true as well. And then the Devils trade Akira Schmeade and Alex Holtz to Vegas for Paul Cotter and a third round pick next year, which is just a very dominant trade from Vegas. Yeah, it's kind of fun. It's a really weird thing for the Devils to give up on both of those guys at the same time where Alex Holtz is just, I need to, I need to get a story here on how this has happened with him because he went seventh overall to the Devils in 2020 and has had his name in a lot of trade rumors and allegedly teams have just turned him down. Like the Sharks. The Sharks could have gotten him in the my team of my trade and they said no and got Mac Madeleine instead. And it just kind of seems like Calgary didn't want him either for Markstrom. And so now the Devils are kind of given up on him for Paul Cotter, who's a decent bottom six player and also Akira Schmeade, who had the playoff run against the Rangers that won him around before he just wasn't good last year at all. So I don't know. It's a weird one for New Jersey and for Vegas. They just kind of, they just seem like get help sometimes from teams and this just seems like one of them. Yeah. It seems like one of them and that wasn't Vegas's only move. I mean, they drafted that kid that we had talked about that we were glad the abs didn't draft. I forget his name. Trevor Connolly. Yeah. I just want to deal with that. You know, the second you start bringing up swastikas, I'd really rather just not deal with that. But was there any other team that was going to draft him other than Vegas? They don't give a fuck. They're just going to do that. And then did you see what Friedman just tweeted? I did not know. Julian Breeze-Blas said he met with Stephen Stamko's agent Don Mihan on Saturday. Key quote, "Our respective positions haven't changed following today's trades." So Stamko's heads to the market on Monday. Yeah. So there's a trade circuit, Cheven Luz. Yeah. That's going to be fucking hilarious. So I'm actually sure that's happening now. That's fucking funny. Yes. You know, I just don't like Tampa. So I have enjoyed these last few hours. Yeah. So that's good. That's very, very funny. But yeah, Vegas doesn't give a fuck. They're going to take whoever they want. And I was just, I was texting you about it. I didn't even know Vegas had a first drum pick this year. Like that just completely blew my mind that Vegas had a- It's hugely safe to assume that they don't. Right. Because they don't have it next year, right? Or the year after. Yeah. And I think it's confusion any other years because they traded next years for hurdle. And I think there's, I think it's conditional. No, they gave up the 2026th for Hannafen. Yep. So this was the last one that they get. So they better hope Trevor Connolly has worked on the issues, capital I, and is a good hockey player because they do not have a lot of picks coming up. Dude, I just, did you watch the interview or were you on the plane when that happened? I was in the airport, which is more stressful than playing it. Yeah. Leah Hechtel was interviewing the, why am I blanking out his name, George McPhee? And she asked, I don't know what he was expecting, but she actually asked him like some hard hitting questions. And I think it really threw him off that he was being not thrown softballs. And he was like, why would we tell you what we ask people in a pre-draft interview? And I was like, because you just drafted a player with a lot of like character concerns. That's like capital I character issues. Yeah. We want to know what the pre draft process and it was just like, it was very funny because I don't think he was expecting Leah Hechtel to ask those type of questions. Yeah. Cause they don't. They don't get those kinds of questions. I bet he wasn't asked any of those kinds of questions by his staff and he was asked that kind of question. Yeah. So that was just very funny, but overall man, like an exciting draft, a lot of stuff happened. Sometimes we're pretty boring, but other than that, man, like what else do we got? Well, it's stuff we've already talked about. It's just the clock is getting ever closer. Ross Colton, as it stands right now is still a member of the avalanche, even with the increasing smoke over the last couple of days. And Jonathan Drewann does not have a contract from the team at the moment. And probably by the time you're listening to this on Sunday, we're one day away from the no trade clause kicking in for Ross Colton and Jonathan Drewann being a free agent. And we also, right after we post the last episode, sounds like Josh Manchin is not going to get traded. The abs have got calls on him. Just sounds like they don't have any interest in doing that. So the clock is ticking here and I'm very interested to see what happens here because now the trade market has opened, draft is over, general managers are open for business. If Ross Colton doesn't get traded by July 1st, I don't think he does, it significantly limits the market for him and the return. And Jonathan Drewann might see a lot of the money that gets offered to him and be like, sorry, Nate, that's $4 million being thrown at me. I'm going to take that. And you can't blame him one bit. You can't blame him one bit if he does that. But I will say this. If Ross Colton is still on the team by tomorrow, by the time you're listening to this, Jonathan Drewann's probably gone. Yep. It's kind of you're getting answers on both. If Ross Colton is not traded by July 1st, he's still going to be here. And that probably means the end of Jonathan Drewann in Colorado, which would be incredibly disappointing. Incredibly disappointing. And I almost want to say I imagine McFarland has a trade lined up for Colton. They're just waiting to hear back from Drewann. Maybe so. I don't mean it's just it's a tough situation to be in right now. And they talked to McFarland yesterday after the first round and they talked about trading back. And they talked about Casey Middlestay, so it was good to get that out of the way. And he also talked about Cal Richie after they have Middlestat locked up when with Richie still developing, we feel really good about our center depth. And they're just they're basically just dealing with a lot of cap issues right now. And they still have a lot of stuff that they just don't have answers on, like Land of Scog and Nachushkin that make things like this really difficult. But again, I hate to say this, but this is your job, man, it's it is difficult. It's a hard job. And you're going to have to navigate stuff like this. It drew it. If Drewann leaves and doesn't sign a ridiculous contract, I'm going to be really disappointed. I am too. I am too. It's just going to be really interesting to see what what happens with it. Like I, I agree, like, because what do you think is disappointing for you? Because if I could do it and sounds like a four year, like $4 million, is that where you'd be like, what the fuck we could make that happen? I think that's my limit. I think once you get above four, the higher above four it is, the more OK I am with it with him leaving. If it's like if we're talking closer to five, I'm like, OK, there's nothing we could have done about that. But if it's four times four, I'm like, yeah, that's a little much, but I still feel like that would have been worth it. It's below four. Any good or else I'm going to be flaming hot, man. I don't think he will. I don't think he will. I think probably the offer on the table speculation, I have no idea, probably like four years, three million. Yeah. I mean, I think that's I just think it's between three and four at this point, probably three to four years. I don't think it makes a ton of sense to offer a ton of term to a 29 year old. But again, if if an extra year or two is what it takes to get it done, like I'm I'm OK with that at the end of the day. I know this is probably a lot more emotional than logical and you can't do that when you're running an NHL team. But he was really good for this team last year and he's very important for Nathan McKinnon. His favorite teammate ever is allegedly favorite teammate ever. So I just really hope something gets done here. But again, that's been the theme of this entire off season is just something is going to have to be sacrificed. It's just a matter of what? Just a matter of what and I keep like checking Twitter, like every five minutes, just make sure nothing breaks before we in this episode. But I will I will say there are usually situations where stuff does happen. It always happens while I'm at work and it always happens stuff always happens like when I hang out with certain people and I am doing that today after. Okay. So the chances of something happening are going up. I also said that when I was on the plane and nothing happened. Yeah. We'll see. I mean, there's still a lot of balls in the air of what's going to happen. It's crazy. I think free agency starts in two days. That's just a mind fuck and a half right there. But I'm ready for it, man. I'm ready. This next week's gonna be fun. Yeah. I mean, I feel like free agency's just been such a distraction. Overlastable. I've barely been able to think about like who the ads are going to sign just because we went to game seven and then we did the draft. Now we're going right in the free agency like I barely even had time to think about it. And in terms of qualifying offers like Zadina didn't get one, but I'm not super into that. And Jeff Skinner is getting bought out Buffalo. I think there's gonna be a lot of takers for him. I think we're gonna be surprised the interest in Jeff Skinner. Is he's good? He's not. He's not terrible. He just makes nine million dollars. Right. It's not to stand. Ryan Souter also got bought outs. And it'd be if he signs he'll be paid by three different teams, which is very respect. What a life, right? Respect. Good for you. You don't even have to sign anywhere. He'll make three million dollars next year. Respect. Good for you, man. Oh, Kristin, I've got traded. Yes, his rights got traded, which is such a weird sentence to say his sign rights got traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the last pick in the draft and a prospect. So it's not a guarantee the Leafs are gonna sign them because they'd have less space than Dallas. Right. Well, I'm interested to see how that's gonna work. But again, it's the last pick in the draft and a guy that I've never heard of. So we'll see how that works out. Yeah, I'm glad he's not gonna be on Dallas anymore. Yeah, I'm glad that's not our fucking problem. Yep. That was in Toronto. Yeah, shit to deal with. Yeah, but we're gonna be back. I imagine first day of free agency Monday night Monday night, but I don't think I have anything else, man. Anything else? No, I'm ready to wrap this one up.
