The FAN Morning Show

Jays Opportunity + Oilers' Chances

The FAN Morning Show goes into its final hour focused on the slate of sports on tonight. Hosts Ben Ennis and Brent Gunning start on the Blue Jays who look to bounce back against the Red Sox and try to move to within a game of .500 baseball. They look at the opportunity the call-ups have been given and if the organization is dedicated to seeing what they have in them. B&B bring on the TV voice of the Jays on Sportsnet, Dan Shulman, to weigh in on the line-up decisions Toronto faces daily and what he’s seen from those players that have joined the Major League team from Buffalo. The trio go farther down the path of giving those “younger” players the opportunity, rather than automatically plugging the line-up with the veterans they have. They also look at where the Blue Jays are at in terms of their competitive window, now and moving forward, compared to a team like the Red Sox. In the back half of this hour, the morning duo turn their attention back to the NHL and the Stanley Cup Final. They enlist the help of Sportsnet’s Luke Gazdic, who was in Edmonton for Games 3 and 4. The former Oiler gives the hosts a sense of what the feeling and belief is of the team to comeback and make this series. The trio look at who needs to step up, who is left in the running for the Conn Smythe, what players are dealing with at this time of year, Connor McDavid chasing history and the future of Leon Draisaitl in Edmonton. B&B also get some quick thoughts from Luke on the Leafs' off-season and Mitch Marner’s future.
