But I did not see that turn coming until it was too late and it was like it was barreling down on me and I was like, oh my God, I can't get out of the way of this turn. It was great stuff, great stuff. So excited to talk about this. I wanna talk about it with you guys. Today we were able to confirm a report that was put forth by I think record Mexico about Stephanie Bakur and then about an hour later, Shawn Michaels just blurted it out on the internet. She had been in talks with AEW and WWE. People I talked to in AEW thought she was headed to WWE and it was confirmed. Stephanie Bakur just a couple weeks after, not even a couple weeks after working for Bitten Door, got on WWE's radar because of that match and is now going to NXT. Damn. I mean, listen, good for her. She secured the bag. A lot of people said, well, doesn't she have a CMLO contract? She does, but they have been very good about letting people out of their deals to pursue bigger offers. So first off, good on CMLO for allowing that to happen. - You're doing that, yeah. - But, Alex, what do you think? - Well, I mean, the best case scenario is amazing. I'll say that. The best case scenario for her there, having matches with Julia or Roxanne or all the amazing stuff, goes to the main roster. We can see her work real ripply and, you know, like it'd be amazing stuff. But I'm watching right now on Raw, what they're doing with the Women's Championship. And it's basically a prop in a feud about, quote unquote, reverse sexual harassment. So I would prefer that she goes somewhere that doesn't like to do that with their stories with women. But this is what she wants, more power to her. What I'm dreading the most is how Booker T is going to pronounce her name when she comes out for the, that's Vakaka's Vakana. Like she, I think that's gonna work. - That remains to be seen. I think that she will excel under, I mean, listen. - Yeah. - I don't watch NXT live. I watch it on a delay the next day. I have Tuesday nights off. I think that she will do wonders for the talent there from an in-ring perspective as well. If you got Julia there and Stephanie there, I'll tell you one thing, between them and Lola Vice, they'll learn how to work stiff if they need to. - That's true. - And NXT, and I'm excited to see how it goes. Very, very excited to see. Crazy 101 says what an ending is Jamie Newes good, people miss her. I mean, listen, I don't know the direction that all this is going for all in. There's a match set for next week that everybody thought was going to all in, including a couple of the people involved in the match, thought it was headed towards all in fairly recently, but the card is looking very good. Jessica Carter says, "Booker's gonna call our Stephanie Vacuum." Man. - Jake Darling says, "Yeah, AEW definitely doesn't tell stories, rolling eyes, emojis." - Yeah. - And "WBC Cribalism" is the worst. Love you, Alex. You're the best. Well, the last part, that remains to be seen. But the first part, I mean, listen, people are just being obtuse. You can say that you don't like the story if you want. Like, that's fine. That's subjective entertainment. And you don't have to like that story or any story. But I mean, like, when people will tell me, "Oh, there's no story to the elite thing." And I'm like, "Well, yeah, there is." I mean, they've pretty well laid it out. I mean, they even brought Kenny Omega back for one week to continue telling that story. They replaced their longtime best friend who was hopefully temporary sidelined with his biggest enemy of his career. So yeah, there is that they have abandoned their other friends when convenient. There's absolutely a story there. But this show was full of them and very excited. Zack says, "Great show, great turn at the end. But is it just me or do that crowd suck booty cheeks?" Listen, sucking booty cheeks would be an improvement because at least that's sometimes fun. - Yeah. - Crowd was terrible. The crowd got woke up at the end, but this crowd was bad. And I know that there were a lot of people, Alex, that were very happy about the no LEDs around the sides and all that stuff. I like a brighter, more vivid show in a lot of senses. I saw Will Osprey, though. I'm so glad he said it. Please, no more black ring ropes. I wondered if it had like the chicken wire effect where you paint it and you can just see through it. Plus with everybody wearing those. But there was the segment with Will Osprey sitting on the turnbuckle. And it just looked like an abyss behind him. And it was just dark and drab. And I was like, "Ah, man, what did you think of the visual changes and the crowd?" - I mean, it's a work in progress. Obviously it can't be done, this can't be it. I mean, I think it's incremental getting better, but I don't know. I think they're hiding the crowd size with the dark lights. And it's like, okay, well, either run smaller venues and pack them, or, you know, just be honest with yourselves. We're not drawing these, the crowds we want. What are the things we can do locally to get people to show up? I mean, also just when people do show up, they've got the worst merch situation in the history of anything. - Real bad, it's real bad. - So like you can do more with like in the thing to get people there, drop your prices, do something. Like, I don't know, it's just, it can certainly be better. - We got the Will Osprey promo kicking things off. A reminder guys, please leave a thumbs up on this video, comment on the video afterwards that helps out our little algorithm over here. - Yeah. - Will Osprey comes out, he cuts a promo and says that the bidding war of 2024 didn't go MJF's way 'cause Tony Khan would rather invest in people that elevate AEW instead of bearing it. And he said that Will Osprey has more talent in his left nut than MJF has in his whole body. This was not like a strong promo, I didn't think. - Like, it's standard fare. - I mean, I wouldn't even say standard fare. I think for Osprey, it was weaker than usual because-- - Oh, yeah, I guess what I meant by that is it's just, it's a standard fare pro wrestling promo. I get paid more than you. I've got more talent in my testicle than you do in your entire body. It's just, it's stuff that we've seen people say for 20 years. - This bodes the question, does Will Osprey have a talentless right nut? - Well, I guess if he had, if it was all the talent in both nuts, then it would like equal the entire roster. - I do understand it saying I have more talent in each nut, respectively. - Yes, yes. - Does it hit his heart? Is his right nut talentless? - Maybe it's like one of those things of like, I have more talent in my left nut than you have in your whole body. My right nut has slightly less talent than you. That's what's up to the left one. - Yeah, that's the thing. Maybe not talentless. Maybe that I don't want to accuse him of having a talentless right nut. But maybe, you know what? Maybe this is how he's grounded. This is how he, he's one of us, right? Like, listen, he can't have two that are more talented than MJF 'cause, listen, that'd be a talented nut sack. - You know what, maybe this is a motivational tactic for his right nut to pick up its game. Get in the gym, you learn some new moves. - This was like when they had Ric Flair cut that promo on Carlito backstage and be like, you're leaving, you're leaving? It's a really good match, but the ending isn't really an ending and they end up doing a rematch at the tape. They've done that before. I feel like this is them doing it again. But, I mean, if MJF were to cheat blatantly to win the belt next week and they give Osprey a rematch at all in and he wins the title back in front of his home crowd as opposed to defending it, maybe that's better. I don't know. - MJF is not there. He is up on the big screen and he says that he doesn't fight at Will Osprey's whim or the audience's whim and it was more the MJF that we saw prior. Nothing like, you know, groundbreaking here, but he also challenged Osprey and said that it's going to happen next week. Now, later on, as people are asking, "Well, doesn't pack have a shot at all in?" That wasn't explicitly stated from what I understand. - So at some point after next week, I think the idea is that Pac says, "I'm going to all in." Maybe his thing is after next week, whoever wins, I'll beat that person and I'll take the international title to all in, you can't stop me if I'm the champion. Maybe that's the point, but I feel like that's a TV title match. We got Stephanie Vikker, super chat, saw you're saying, "Ultimately, I'm happy "for wrestlers getting great paychecks "and I'm happy for all the trolls last week going. "Who suddenly being CMLR's? "All buddy, were there hundreds of people who said, "Who?" And now are acting like this is the biggest coup on the planet. Mr. 3D Print Wizard says, "Work in progress, "hiding, camera is pointed right at the crowd. "Brother, what on earth are you talking about? "Pay attention to what we say. Some, listen, some doofus got on Wikipedia and changed her Wikipedia to say she got released. I'll give you guys a little story. One time I tried to convince my wife that Mike Mizanin had a twin brother named Mark Mizanin and I even edited his Wikipedia to say it. You can do anything to those things if they're not locked. - Right. - Just, yeah. - Yeah. - Mr. 3D Print Wizard says, "I did pay attention. "You aren't paying attention. "No, you are not paying attention "because we very specifically talked about the dark, "drap background, not being able to see the audience "in the background because it's dark." So we said, "You know what, maybe scale the venue, "maybe run smaller venues, any number of things." But hey, listen, if you wanna keep sending us money to look like an idiot, by all means, please do it. Please do it. So the Osprey promo and MJF next week. Kevin Hale says, "Are we getting MJF in Osprey next week "because TK is letting Will handpick his opponent "for all in, possibly ricochet?" That wasn't the plan as of a couple of weeks ago, but anything's possible in this situation. That could work. I think Hangman, Okada, Pac in ricochet, and then MJF, Osprey, are the way to go with some of these people that we don't necessarily know about yet, but I mean, you could do swerve and ricochet it all out a couple of weeks later. - You could, you could usually do that, yeah. - We got Hangman back, actually, no, nope, we don't have Hangman, we got Hangman, but it's in a match, not the backstage yet. Brian Danielson defeated Hangman page via pinfall. Jeff Jarrett, after the emotional match last week was made the enforcer, he then became the referee because it was taken out. Guess what? This match ruled Alex. - Yeah, no, yeah, you would think. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah, this match kicked ass, and Brian Danielson picked up the win with a cradle. He was dead at the end of this. How did you feel about Brian winning because this is one that had people tour over the last week? - So I was firmly in the camp of Brian's gonna win, and then Brian's going to win. Not enough I wanted him to win. I mean, I wanna see Danielson versus Swerve in the main event of Wembley, but the promo that was released on social media that Hangman cut after he beat Jay White, which doing this match first doesn't really allow you to run a two-minute promo, but that promo unedited should have run before their match. I don't know how you do it, you gotta do it. 'Cause that promo that he cut backstage was some of the most visceral in the moment emotional, like work I've seen from a wrestler ever. That man wasn't just full of righteous fury. He was in pain. That moment where he's about to walk away from the camera then turns back and says, just start screaming. He broke into my house. He threatened my family. We had to move out of our home. Do you understand what that has done to me? And they chose him. They loved him for it. Like on a human level, imagine that feeling of having the most horrible thing, like his wife crying herself to sleep 'cause she doesn't feel safe in her home, having to move from the house they bought together, their baby not knowing what the hell is going on, and you as a man, as a husband, as a father can't do what you, he never paid for it. Not only did he never pay for it, like wasn't suspended by Tony Khan, but I had the opportunity to make him play for it in the ring and I couldn't get it done. I have to do this for everything. I have to do it. If I have to destroy everything in my path, I've got to get it done. So after watching that promo, which was amazing work by Aang Man, I was like, I kind of want him to win this match for the Danielson, even though I don't think he's going to, and then when he didn't, it's fine because we're still getting Danielson versus Swerve, and we're still getting Aang Man versus Swerve kind of. - But I love-- - Best both worlds. - We have these two characters who are very parallel on Dynamite and Raw, the did nothing wrong guys who are the heels, and I really, really love it. I absolutely love it. It is just, it's so good. - Yeah. - So the match itself, just incredible, you know it's going to be pay-per-view quality, and it was, they killed it. They killed it. - So good, such a great match. - Do you think this can possibly lead to Jeff Jarrett being on Team AEW in Nashville? - Unfortunately, yes, I do. I mean, I think that you can certainly do that part of the story without him having to be one of five guys defending the honor of AEW from the elite. I will say this, I don't think he should be in the match if John Moxley's not in the match. John Moxley should want to be in the match 'cause all Aang Man does is insult Renee backstage, and that should be enough for John Moxley to want to kill a guy, even a guy like Aang Man who like, especially a guy like Aang Man who he has beef with. It feels obvious from tonight. We'll talk about it later. Darby's probably one of those three guys. So if the three guys we're getting are Moxley, Darby and Jeff Jarrett, I guess I'll take it. That's fine, you know what I mean? Jeff Jarrett's only going to be in there to hit guys with kendo sticks and bleed a lot, so it'll be fine, you know what I mean? I get it, and they've done a lot to make him a sympathetic figure here and give him beef with Aang Man, so it makes sense. So what I really loved is how they weaved this in and out of like four different stories. So Brian Danielson gets the shot against Swerve at all in. Swerve ends up coming out, cutting a promo, and again, not as strong as promo was a little disjointed at times, but it got the point across, and there were several points. One, Danielson at all in, hell yeah. The next point, not only am I going to join Team AEW for blood and guts, I'm challenging Ocada next week. - Yeah, yeah. - Wonder how that one ends up, 'cause they can't do two schmaws finishes on the same show, not AEW, surely. - No, I'm sure-- - Surely not, but-- - Yeah, that's interesting one, 'cause two on the same show would be really hard for them to figure out a way to do it satisfactorily, but it is a champion versus champion, not title for title. - Yes, but I could see Hangman doing something in that match to cost Ocada unintentionally. And then MJF and Osprey can go to the time limit. Now Irene says the Swerve Hangman feud rules, but I'm very happy with Brian getting his world title to match it all in. Swerve and Hangman are gonna be fine. Oh, they will, you can go back to that anytime. You will not be able to go back to Brian Danielson at any time. - Here's what's gonna be amazing in like 2026. When they've switched back to opposite alignments, and we firmly hate Swerve again, and firmly love Hangman, and they do this again. You know what I mean? Like, and finally, Hangman gets to feel the love from the people that he deserved. They're gonna do, I feel like this is one of those things that you pick back up again, every, I don't know, 14 months or so. And the heat's always gonna be there. These guys despise each other. It's gonna be great. - I can't wait. So Thomas Sandberg says I'd rather have Jay White and Juice Robinson in her blood and guts spins off into Young Bucks versus Jay and Juice at all in. Also, Mariah Mae is awesome. I don't think they fit into this right now. I, listen, if you wanna do that at all in, sure, do that at all in, by all means. I just don't think that they fit into this blood and guts thing, but to Irene's point, yes, I do love this, and here's what I love about it. Swerve is like, yeah, I'm gonna do blood and guts. And then Hangman goes to Team Elite, and he's like, I'll do it. I'll join Team Elite. Well, he didn't say I'll join Team Elite, but that's what he meant. - And that's what he's doing. - That's what he's doing. - But the really cool thing about that thing backstage is it starts up, Okada versus Hangman. Okada does not like Hangman. Hangman does not like Okada. They're on the same team for Blood and Guts, but them already not liking each other is what starts the build for them versus each other at all in. - Christopher Hart says, do you think Hangman gets added to the Brian Swerve match? - I wouldn't mind it a single bit. A single bit. I mean, let's be real. Brian Danielson physically ain't probably ain't gonna complain about having an extra dance partner in there, but I could see it now. Hangman hits the butt shot, Larry it, and doesn't get the pin, but he still wins. You know what I mean? And he's just there laughing and he didn't beat Swerve, but he didn't lose to Swerve and Swerve did lose. Ooh, that's a satisfying finish, and guess what we can do? Hangman and Swerve again after that. - Sure, 100%. - Yeah. - Ooh, two L.T. Cole Photos says, do I need to make Sean and a cantakerous cartoon? Did he do the graphic? Oh, it's so good. - The new graphic for style graphs is amazing, and I think we should just, cantankerous cartoonify the entire Fightful staff. I mean. - Well, this fellow did was so good. Sawyer says the last few weeks have made me seriously suspect you might get both Taz and Nigel being physical in 2024. Thoughts? Nigel's a possibility. Taz is adamant that he won't. He says his knees are pretty messed up. And listen, man, Taz is top three of all time for me. He's what made me love Suplexus, so. - Yeah. I would love to see him just all he's gotta do. At some point in the match with, eventual match with Jericho and Hook is sink in that Taz mission. While the rest, it's gonna be a hardcore match. So he can just sink it in, let 'em choke 'em out, and then let Hook do the thing. - I saw somebody that said, listen, if he could get into as good a shape as humanly possible, enough to wear the WWF suit even. All he's gotta do is one Suplex, one Taz mission. He ain't got a bridge with that Suplex. And he wins the FTW title, and we can retire it if you want. - You want him to win it? Okay. I would say. - From Jericho. Help his son win it back, but you want him to win it. - From Jericho, and that's how you return it to Taz. - Okay. - Kyrie says possibility of AEWX stardom pay-per-view or event. I think if it does happen, I think it'll be in Japan. I think that'll be one that they throw over there. - Yeah. - Sheitown's first is blood and guts is in Nashville, home of a certain outlaw. Chris Jericho defeated Samoa Joe via ref stoppage in a stampede street fight. And you know what, this checks out because Canadians are just too polite to let a street fight go on that long. And the finishing move that Chris Jericho did was breaking the walls down. Alex, he did. We did get a note out of Samoa Joe, that was good. But, oh God, I wish I could run the clip that I have of Jericho doing this. Jericho and Joe fight backstage and Joe is put onto a forklift and then ran through this through the thinnest wall you have ever seen that was clearly put up by, like for this specifically. I mean, obviously, none, there's anything wrong with that. But man, I'm like, you know, put some jugs of tea or something behind that wall. Let's create some chaos. But it was just so random. There's a random forklift with a pallet. It just threw through the wall. And listen, did I, was I entertained by it? Yes, I was entertained by that spot. It did, it's something that I will remember. - Right. - Jericho waving goodbye to Joe later was very odd. But I just don't care about the Jericho stuff. This was one of the more entertaining elements of it that I've seen recently. But listen, I'll just turn it over to you. I'm sure you've got things to say. (laughing) So when they announced that they were going to do this, this match, Samoa Joe versus Chris Jericho in a street. I was like, oh, don't do the match. And the reason is because, not because it wouldn't be fun to have, to watch Samoa Joe beat the hell out of Chris Jericho. It's because I know that the story dictates that that's not what's going to happen. You know what I mean? There's some fun spots here. You know, this match is good. Sometimes you just need a banger of a match to have a banger. Of a match, and this one has stakes with it as well. Yeah, Pac then declared his intent to have and have a Wembley moment. I don't think the Wembley moment is going to be the international title, but unless MJF costs, aspirate that match. And then, you know, there could be there could be something there. But if we're doing what we're already doing, let's say, almost a time limit draw of MJF versus versus Will Osprey, where the whole thing like goes 25 plus minutes. And then there's the schmazzy finish. And then if Will Osprey then retains because of schmaz and then has the match versus Pac, but MJF gets involved and that thing doesn't go as planned. I could absolutely see them doing MJF versus Will Osprey versus Pac in a triple threat, because we've already seen the one on one, we saw 25 minutes of it, the way that actually, and that wouldn't be the end of the feud between Will Osprey and MJF, but they could put they put Pac into it. And would it also be a great, great match? Absolutely. I could see that being the way that Pac is being is being entered into all and it's possible. I like the idea of Pac and Ricochet. Like you mentioned, like there are there are options here. There are lots of options, lots of options to get where they need to go. But Pac and Ricochet seems like a hell of a match, hell of a match. I think that Osprey and MJF on its own is big for all in. I'm surprised they're doing it next week. But listen, they did a big show last week. They did a big show this week. They're doing a big show next week. They're doing a big show the week after that when you don't have a pay per view until late August, right? Yeah. But Mariah Mae picks up the win before we talk about anything that happened afterwards, right? We see Mariah Mae when she did it. You know, with no help given to her. Like she didn't try to screw anybody over. No. So you're like, OK, wow, maybe some. Maybe some babyface elements here. Like, yeah, and Willow shook her hand afterwards. And Mariah Mae shook her hands. That's right. That was very respectful. She has nothing but respect for Willow. For Willow Nightingale at nothing but hatred for her mentor, Tony Storm. Yeah. How'd you think? How'd you feel about the match? The match was really, really great. I think it's everything we wanted, like, because I mean, there's something there like there's something so perfect about these two really hard hitting women who are vastly different in every other aspect, except for the fact that they will eat you like a truck. And I look the moment that will always stick with me from this match was I've never considered that the reason that willows pounce works so well is that she perfectly times how fast you're running the ropes to be able to hit you in the middle of the ring. But if you speed up and get to her before she can get to you, apparently you could just head butter in the jaw. Like that moment of the flying, basically just running, sprinting headbutt by Mariah Mae was fantastic. Something I had never considered. But what a cool moment that was I also love that you're right. Like, yes, Statlander and Stokely came in and got involved, but it did not directly lead to the finish. It was almost a minute. I think after that thing happened, where Willow was fine. She was in position to win. And Mariah Mae reversed a definitely driver into a victory role. It got the pin clean. And at that point, it looked like, oh, cool. We've been actually really starting to like this whole Tony Storm and Mariah Mae thing. Like, they've got a long time to figure out how they're going to like make us like one of them more than the other. But look, they're so happy for each other. This is really great. And they're going up the, like, it was a really awesome moment of, wow, I'm really, really happy for both of these women who love each other so much. And of course, that's why the turn works so well. So I was telling Alex off the early. I mean, first off, we'll talk about how great this was, but as this storyline unfolded, I was like, I mean, the crowd really loved Tony Storm. Like, it's going to be hard for her to be a heel. And then as things went on and as they go up the ramp, I go, oh, wait, Eve was the heel in all about Eve. And for the other reference, I often make a showgirls. And I'm like, no, wait, Elizabeth Berkeley pushed Gina Gershon down the stairs in showgirls, which is the very, very, very low rent version. And then Mariah Mae wasted no time. I was like, oh, we've got about six weeks for this. So it'll, it'll happen eventually. No, she beat the living shit out of Tony Storm, out of Luther, out of Aubrey. And we go off the air with this insane visual that has such a magical double meaning, Alex. Like it is so, so perfect the way that this goes. But she beat them with a belt with anything that she could find. She beat them. And what we see, Alex, is Mariah Mae leaving the woman who exists in black and white. And the most color she's been in in a long time. This was a great little just Easter egg element of that. That she got, she got color for the woman who lives in black and white. There's a, there's a fantastic, the heel turn, the big reveal and Indiana Jones and the last crusade is, I didn't trust her. Why did you? Because he didn't listen to my advice. And the, the advice was don't trust anybody. But Tony Storm's advice to herself and everybody else was watch for the shoe. Tony Storm didn't take her own advice. He's got to watch for the shoe, man. Like, like this, the beat down was, was amazing. The fact that it happened with the heel of a shoe makes it so much better than it was, but it was already amazing. I, I was, I was taken aback by how I was watching it. You know the, the last time this happened was to Keshta, where I was like, I don't know, heeled to Keshta and I watched him do the turn and I was like, Oh no, this is what Sky should have been doing the whole time. He's great at this. And Mariah Mae has had me fooled into like thinking she was this very sweet, like the underling of Tony Storm. I still thought going into this match, I still thought Tony Storm was going to start being paranoid about how maybe her understudy was actually better than her. And that was going to be your heel turn. But they did it the other way. And they've been, they're saying in all the social media stuff and also on commentary, was she planning this the whole time? And they say it so often, that's going to be the angle that she had, she knew from the beginning, if I can just get as close to her as possible. But there's going to be a moment where she's going to fully accept me as her own. And that's when I'll strike, I mean, like wonderful stuff. And Mariah Mae, when she has that promo detailing all of it is going to absolutely kill it. And when Tony Storm has her promo about how betrayed she is, it's going to be amazing. God, it's good. And when she cuts a promo saying that Mariah Mae is more like Elizabeth Berkeley than Betty Davis, I will be vindicated. Yeah, you will. Alan Hess says the women showed out tonight, all is fine people. Yes, they did. Ryan Dubb says amazing stuff with this storyline with Tony and Mariah. It's cinema just all smiles. It was beautifully executed and they have had big plans for Mariah Mae since the jump. They saw it through, they executed it and now we're in route to a major all-in match. Love for Boost says Mariah and Eden Oscar for best live performance slasher film. That was brutal. I did not expect to see that much blood. It didn't.
