AP News, I'm Ben Thomas. Bertha Biden's campaigning in Michigan this evening. Sakamogane reports he's trying to convince Democratic lawmakers, donors and voters he's still up for the job. The president sought to make his case at a news conference yesterday. I'm not in this for my legacy, I'm in this to complete the job I started. But even after a good showing, he's in this really, you know, difficult position where perfectly fine is not quite good enough. Saint Anselm College political analyst Chris Galdiri says Democrats have put him in a no win scenario where it's really tough to say, well, what would actually put these concerns to rest? Galdiri says it's easy for the electorate and elected officials to focus on the president's age and stumbles while he will try to switch the emphasis to Donald Trump's policy ideas. It's a harder thing to get voters to latch on to. A judge has thrown out Rudy Giuliani's bankruptcy case, finding he flouted the process with the lack of transparency. That ends his pursuit of bankruptcy protection and does not absolve him of his debts, his biggest creditors, two former Georgia election workers he was found to have defamed. Senator Bob Menendez's trial has gone to the jury, the New Jersey Democratic used of taking bribes and being a foreign agent for Egypt. And Haya Panjwani has the latest in Alec Baldwin's case. Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter trial was put on hold while the judge considers a defense motion to dismiss the case over disputed ammunition. I'm going to recess you for the day. Judge Mary Marlow-Somer sent the jury home after hearing on the issue that was supposed to proceed resumption of the trial, raised more questions and called for further testimony. The defense filed its motion over what it says is ammunition evidence, the prosecution hid from them, that may be related to the shooting death of cinematographer Helena Hutchins on the set of the film Rust in 2021. I'm Haya Panjwani. This is AP News. Wall Street finished the week with more gains. I'm Seth Zutel, and this is the AP Markets Porer. Stocks rose after some mixed signals on bank profits and inflation did a little to dent Wall Street's belief that easier interest rates are on the way. Yes, and B500 climbed 6/10% Friday, closing out its fifth winning week in the last six. The Dow added 247 points at about 6/10%, the Nasdaq composite also rose 6/10%. All three indexes had been on track to set all-time highs in afternoon trading, but finished just shy of them. Treasury-old swung in the bond market, but remained lower after a report showed that inflation at the wholesale level was worse last month than analysts had expected. The yield on the tenure treasury note fell to 4.18%, Seth Zutel, New York. And just past the year's halfway point, the Dow has gained more than 6% so far in 2024. The S&P 500 is up more than 17%, while the Nasdaq has added more than 22%. I'm Ben Thomas, AP News.
