But other Democrats are not confident the president can defeat Donald Trump in November. New Jersey's Cory Booker is going to a meeting of Senate Democrats. We're going to defeat Donald Trump. Is Biden the best person to do that? Again, I feel we're going to beat Donald Trump. I'm focused on the work at hand. The first Senate Democrat, Vermont's Peter Welch, and a ninth house Democrat, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, are publicly calling for the president to end his campaign. Meantime, the Biden team says Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are the clearest paths to victory in November. Donald Trump meantime is promising to expand his coalition, and in particular to win over more of the non-white voters who largely rejected him during the 2020 campaign. In Vermont, one person has died from flooding as a result of barrel, which was once a hurricane when it reached land in Texas. The mayor of Barry, Vermont, Tom Longson, says a slight break in the rain helped lower floodwaters. It came up very quickly. Someone was looking over for us, looking over us because the rain stopped about 9.30. And we saw another band that was supposed to come through at about 10 or 10.30. Authorities say it was quickly brought under control, but it spooked witnesses who immediately thought of the devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in 2019. That one knocked down Notre Dame's spire and collapsed its roof. The cathedral in Rouen is from the 12th century considered to be a gothic masterpiece and is widely beloved, in part because of a series of paintings by impressionist Claude Monet. It's being renovated and a spokesman for the fire fighter says construction workers were the first to notice the fire and tell authorities the cathedral is expected to reopen on Friday. Officials say a Chinese woman who was swept out to sea while swimming at a Japanese beach was rescued 37 hours later after drifting in an inflatable swim ring more than 50 miles in the Pacific.
