BMW is recalling thousands of vehicles because of airbag inflators that could explode. The recall includes some three-series sedans from 2006 through 2011, and some three-series sports wagons from 2006 through 2012. BMW does not have any reports of accidents or injuries because of this, but if it happens, sharp metal fragments could hit the driver or somebody else in the vehicle. And that could mean injury or even death, says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. BMW dealers will inspect and replace the driver's airbag module as necessary for free.
