AP News, I'm Ben Thomas. At the Biden's gaming firm against Carl's friend to drop his candidacy in a letter to congressional Democrats calling for an end to the intraparty drama. And on MSNBC's Morning Joe saying he's been talking with voters himself. "I want to make sure I was right, that the average voter out there still wanted Joe Biden. And I'm confident they do." Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Corinne Jean-Pierre pushed back when asked if a specialist on Parkinson's disease had visited the White House to see President Biden. "So I am telling you that he has seen a neurologist three times while he has been in this presidency. So that is answering that question. No it's not." No it is. It is. You're asking- "I can't connect to my house." "But I just, I also said to you, Ed, I also said to you, for security reasons, we cannot share names. We cannot share names." Closing arguments have begun in the primary trial of New Jersey Democratic Senator Bob Menendez. Prosecutor Paul Montaleone told The Jury, the one-time chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, put his power up for sale to benefit three New Jersey businessmen. Menendez is accused of receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold, cash, and a luxury convertible. Montaleone said they have fingerprint evidence on tape that bound thousands of dollars in cash, hidden in coat pockets, boots, and boxes, found at a home owned by Menendez's wife. Montaleone is not done yet. Menendez's lawyers will get their chance later. They have argued the gold bars belong to the senator's wife, and the hidden cash is just his habit of storing cash at home. I'm Ed Donahue. "The job of the storm barrels slammed into Texas, knocking out power to nearly three million homes and businesses." "The city says it took out a tree near his house." "Man heard a big boom. I just thought it was a limb. I didn't know it was a whole tree." The heavy rain prompted dozens of high-water rescues. Meanwhile, more than 146 million Americans are under heat alerts. This is AP News. Transportation Security Administration agents screen three million airline passengers Sunday, the highest single-day total ever. The Department of Homeland Security says that works out to about 35 passengers per second. Meanwhile, Lisa Dwyer has this story. Authorities say United Airlines Boeing Jet lost a main landing gear wheel while taking off from Los Angeles. The jet later landed safely in Denver. The airline says there were no reported injuries on the ground or on board Flight 1001. The wheel was recovered in Los Angeles. The Boeing 757-200 was carrying 174 passengers and seven crew members. And it's the second time a United Boeing jet has lost a tire in the past few months. In March, a United Boeing B-777-200 jet lost a tire mid-air after takeoff from San Francisco. I'm Lisa Dwyer. And I'm Ben Thomas, AP News. Thanks for listening. An official message from Medicare. A new law is helping me save more money on prescription drug costs. Maybe you can save too.
