AP News, I'm Ed Donohue. President Biden is saying it very loudly. "I am not going anywhere." After his debate performance in Atlanta about a week and a half ago, the president says he got out there to gauge public support. "I wanted to make sure I was right, that the average voter out there still wanted Joe Biden, and I'm confident they do." The president wrote a letter to congressional Democrats and spoke there to MSNBC. The AP soccer McGony reports some House Democrats are reportedly furious over President Biden's letter. A House aide says some lawmakers want to hear straight from the president. The White House is not saying whether that will happen this week. He is getting some high-level support. Members of the House, Progressive and Black caucuses say they are not ready to abandon the president yet. But Montana Senator John Tester, one of the most endangered Democrats in November, says the president needs to prove to the people he's up to another four years. A document obtained by the AP shows the platform committee of the Republican National Committee adopted a policy document that reflects former President Donald Trump's position opposing a federal abortion ban, leaving it up to states to decide. If regulators approve the combined company of Paramount and Skydance will be valued at around $28 billion, it would be called new Paramount. The deal is expected to close in September 2025. Paramount has been around since 1914 and is responsible for such films as The Godfather and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Skydance was founded in 2010 and has worked with Paramount on Top Gun Maverick and The Mission Impossible movies. Executive said in a conference call on Monday that the goals of new Paramount include rebuilding the Paramount Plus streaming service and addressing the declining growth of linear television.
