Category one hurricane barrel slammed onto the Texas coast near Matagorda early this morning, knocking out power canceling flights and closing some roads around Houston. Hurricane barrel strengthened before the center made landfall near Matagorda, Texas on the Gulf Coast with maximum winds of 80 miles an hour early this morning. We're on the dirty side of the hurricane, the toughest side. While the storm is forecast to lose strength over land in Houston, Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo cautioned residents. It's going to be wet. It's going to be windy and it's going to be dangerous. Audio courtesy KTRK, Mark Richardson at the coastal community of Freeport, Texas, says the rain has people concerned. The AP's Haya Pangewani, John Landau, an Oscar winning producer who worked closely with director James Cameron on Titanic and the Avatar series has died. He was 63. No cause of death was given. Landau's partnership with Cameron led to three Oscar nominations in a best picture win for 1997's Titanic. Together, the pair account for some of the biggest block including Avatar and its sequel Avatar the Way of Water. The trio of films are among the highest grossing movies of all time. In a statement, Cameron says Landau, quote, will be remembered as much for his vast generosity of spirit as for the movies themselves, unquote. I'm Haya Pangewani.
