AP News, I'm Ed Donohue in Huntington Beach, California. Police, a two people, were killed, three others injured in a shooting on the 4th of July in a crowded area near downtown. A suspect was arrested. Nationwide shootings on the 4th of July killed at least eight people, including a 10-year-old girl in Cleveland. Category 2 hurricane, Beryl, has reached Mexico, but is expected to re-energize and impact parts of Texas. A piece of metal twisting in the wind at a cancun resort, as Hurricane Beryl made landfall in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Power is out in many places. 4 to 8 inches of rain is expected to fall, as the storm marches to the west-northwest. National Hurricane Center Director Michael Brennan says Beryl will weaken from crossing land, but will likely regain hurricane strength over the Gulf of Mexico in the coming days. Heavy rainfall along the northeastern Mexico, lower and middle Texas coast, beginning late Sunday and into Monday. Rip currents will also be a threat. Hurricane Beryl's blame for nearly a dozen deaths, as it tore through the windward islands earlier in the week. I'm Jackie Quinn. As President Biden traveled to Wisconsin, press Secretary Corinne John Pierre was asked about efforts by Democrats in Congress for the president to get out of the race. President Biden will be interviewed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos today. Rail cars carrying hazardous material derailed and burst into flames in a remote area of North Dakota. Officials say no one was hurt, and the threat to those living nearby appears to be minimal. Palestinian authorities say seven people have been killed during an Israeli military operation in an area of the West Bank city of Janine. That's where the Israeli military says it's been carrying out counterterrorism activity that included an air strike. This is AP News. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled ballot drop boxes can be used. The decision overturns the court's own ruling two years ago, which limited the use of drop boxes in the presidential swing state. The difference has to do with the makeup of the court. Conservatives controlled the state Supreme Court two years ago, but in April of last year, the court was flipped to Democratic control. Seeing an opening, priorities USA, a progressive voter mobilization group, asked the court to revisit the decision a few months ago. President Joe Biden barely won Wisconsin in 2020, and Donald Trump narrowly took it in 2016. Democrats believe that making it easier to vote absentee will boost turnout for their side. A court in Romania ruled social media influencer Andrew Tate can leave the country, but must remain within the European Union as he awaits trial on charges of human trafficking and rape.
