[MUSIC] AP News. I'm Ed Donoghue. Category two hurricane barrel has reached land along Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Mike Brennan at the National Hurricane Center says parts of Texas could be feeling the effects. Life threatening storm surge, especially as we move northward along the Texas coast of Olnes Place is like Baffin Bay, Corpus Christi Bay, Madagascar Bay. So be on the lookout for storm surge watches that will likely be issued later today for portions of the lower and middle Texas coast. Barrel is expected to quickly weaken to a tropical storm as it crosses over the peninsula before reemerging into the Gulf of Mexico and likely regaining hurricane strength. The Kansas Supreme Court rejected two anti-abortion laws. The ruling suggests other abortion restrictions could fall in Kansas. Britain's labor leader, Keir Starmer, is officially the new prime minister. After receiving the former blessing of King Charles, arriving at 10 Downing Street with his wife Victoria to roaring applause from supporters. In his first speech as PM, Starmer vows to lead a government of service, marking the beginning of a new Britain. Politics can be a force for good. We will show that.
