AP News, I'm Adonah Hugh. President Biden is vowing to keep running. He's rejecting growing pressure from those in his own party to get out of the race. After last week's debate performance in Atlanta, press secretary Corinne John Pierre saw the president just before today's White House briefing. He said they were strong conversation. And by the way, he looks great. The vice president is great. And they are ready to continue working on behalf of the American people. According to a top aid the president told staffers he is the leader of the Republican party and no one is pushing him out. But alternatives are still being discussed. A longtime Biden ally, South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn, says he would back a mini primary, leading up to next month's Democratic National Convention, if Biden were to leave the race. Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow is backing the president but gave this response. People are going to make their own choices independently. And said that I think we're going to have a strong Democratic showing this fall. Jim Clyburn says he saw what he saw last Thursday night and it is concerning. Category 3 hurricane barrel is moving closer to Jamaica where Pauline Lynch lives. I have no control over what what is coming. So I just have to pray that all all people of Jamaica is safe. Barrel is blamed for at least six deaths in the Caribbean. A wildfire in Northern California, north of Sacramento was spreading with more hot weather expected. Thousands have been evacuated. A fourth farm worker has been infected with bird flu in the outbreak linked to dairy cows. The Colorado worker is a man who had direct exposure to infected dairy cows. He developed pink eye or conjunctivitis, received antiviral treatment and has recovered. Federal reserve officials at their most recent meeting welcomed recent signs, inflation is slowing and highlighted data suggesting the job market and the broader economy could be cooling. Both trends, if they continue, could lead the Fed to cut its benchmark interest rate. This is AP news. The Middle East settlement tracking group Peace Now says Israel has approved the largest seizure of land in the occupied West Bank in more than three decades. Authorities recently approving the appropriation of nearly five square miles of land in the Jordan Valley. The Palestinians view the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank as the main barrier to any lasting peace agreement and most of the international community views them as illegitimate. Israel's government considers the area to be the historical and religious heartland. Peace Now's data indicate it's the largest single appropriation approved since the 1993 Oslo Accords at the start of the peace process. I'm Charles D'Loudesma. An Italian appeals court upheld the convictions of two American men in the killing of an Italian plainclothes police officer during a botched sting operation, but significantly reduced their sentences.
