AP News, I'm Ed Donichy. White House Secretary Karine Jumpier was asked if President Biden is stepping down. Absolutely not. And you heard I believe directly from the campaign as well. A top aide quoted the president as saying in a campaign conference call, "I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out." There have been doubts by Democrats about the path forward after the president's debate performance last week in Atlanta. It was not his best night. He understands that it is fair for people to ask that question. But we cannot forget his record and what he's been able to do. We cannot forget how he's been able to deliver for the American people for almost four years. That matters too. Democrats have been unsatisfied with the explanations of Biden's debate performance from both the White House staff and Biden himself. Lloyd Docket, a congressman from Texas, is the first Democrat to call on the president to step aside. He spoke to NBC. I think there are a number of candidates that could come in and provide a stronger message in trying to prevent a Trump authoritarian takeover. Abortion rights supporters in Arizona say they turned in more than double the signatures they need to put the issue on the November ballot. There's an August deadline for verification in Nebraska. Organizers of competing abortion measures say they collected enough signatures to go to voters. That would make Nebraska the only state where an abortion restricting measure could be on the November ballot. Hurricane barrel is roaring by Jamaica as Islanders scramble to make preparations for the powerful Category 4 storm. A settlement tracking group says Israel has approved the largest seizure of land in the occupied West Bank in over three decades. Court papers indicate former Toronto Raptors player John Tae Porter will be charged with the federal felony connected to the sports betting scandal that spurred the NBA to ban him for life. This is AP news. I'm Damian Troisi and this is the AP Markets report. Wall Street's record-breaking rally kept going Wednesday after week reports on the economy kept the door open for possible interest rate cuts. The S&P 500 rose 0.5% Wednesday to set an all-time high for the 33rd time this year. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.1%. The Nasdaq rose 0.9% to push its own record higher. Treasury yields slid following weaker than expected reports on both the job market and U.S. services companies which make up the bulk of businesses. The data bolstered bets for the Federal Reserve to cut its main interest rate as soon as September. Damian Troisi, New York. Caesar salad has something to celebrate. It's turning 100. Italian immigrant Caesar Cardini is said to have invented the dish July 4, 1924 at his restaurant in Mexico. Tijuana plans to commemorate the anniversary with a three-day food and wine festival and the unveiling of a statue of Cardini. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
