AP News. I'm Ed Donohue. Texas Congressman Lloyd Doggett is the first Democrat to publicly call on President Biden to step aside. In a statement Doggett said in last week's debate, the president failed to effectively defend his many accomplishments and should make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. Meetamin Washington, the president, is proposing a new rule to address excessive heat in the workplace. "It includes things like developing response plans to heat illness, training employees and supervisors, implementing arrest breaks, access to shade and water. You think we'd have to tell people access to shade and water." If approved, it would be the first major federal safety standard of its kind. A former New York City mayor is being told he can't practice law in New York. Donald Trump's former legal advisor Rudy Giuliani was disbarred in New York after a court found he repeatedly made false statements about the former president's 2020 election loss. An appeals court ruling came Tuesday after Trump's main mouthpiece for false claims of election fraud had already been suspended. The court said in its decision Giuliani essentially conceded most of the facts, supporting the alleged acts of misconduct. His attorney, Arthur I. Dallas, says they put up a valiant effort to prevent disbarment but saw the writing on the wall. His spokesperson, Ted Goodman, calls it a politically and ideologically corrupted decision and says they will appeal. Giuliani rose from lawyer to federal prosecutor to someone once called America's mayor, Julie Walker, New York. Fed Chair Jerome Powell says inflation is getting closer to the Fed's 2 percent level. "So yes, we've made a lot of progress. We just want to understand that the levels that we're seeing are a true reading." Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says the U.S. will provide another $2 billion in military aid to Ukraine. Taiwan says the Chinese Coast Guard has boarded a Taiwanese fishing boat. This is AP News. A stampede at a religious gathering has killed at least 105 people in India. Officials say more than 150 people have been admitted to hospitals after the crash in a village in Haffras district of Uttar Pradesh state, adding that the death toll is likely to rise. Local media reports the stampede occurred as attendees rushed to leave, following an event with a religious leader named Borla Baba. Attendees Shukantala Devi tells the press trust of India. People started falling one upon another. Those who were crushed died and the crowd at the event was huge. Initial reports suggest that over 15,000 people had gathered for the event, which had permission to host just 5,000. Police said overcrowding may have been a factor. I'm Charles the Ledesma.
