The Supreme Court sent the federal election subversion case against former President Trump back to a lower court, directing it to carefully analyze whether allegations involve official acts for which it says the president has absolute immunity or unofficial private actions for which there's none. President Biden says that all but guarantees Trump will not stand trial before the November election. As a right to know, the answer about what happened on January 6th before they asked to vote again this year, now because of today's decision that is highly, highly unlikely. It's a terrible disservice to the people of this nation. So now, now the American people will have to do what the court should have been willing to do, but will not. The American people will have to render a judgment about Donald Trump's behavior. For his part, Trump called the ruling a "big win" for our Constitution and Democracy. Meantime, Trump's lawyers, citing the decision, have asked the judge who presided over his "Hush Money" trial to set aside his conviction and delay sentencing scheduled for later this month. The Israeli Army's ordered a mass evacuation of Gaza's second-largest city, Khan Yunus, assigned a new assault slightly, and that Hamas has regrouped there. In Sakur Makani reports, the U.S. is boosting security at military bases across Europe. U.S. European Command is raising its security alert to force protection Charlie, the second highest level for troops. That's done when there's a security incident or intelligence indicating some form of action against personnel or facilities is likely. Two officials say the threat level was boosted due to a combination of threats and events in the region, including elections, the Paris Olympics and the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, military's urging troops and their families to be more vigilant and keep a lower profile. A woman from China arrested at a Vermont Lake bordering Quebec for trying to smuggle 29 Eastern Box Turtles, a protected species, in violation of the Endangered Species Act into Canada by Kayak according to Border Patrol agents. Wang Yiang was arrested Friday at a Canaan Airbnb as she was about to get into that inflatable kayak with a duffel bag full of turtles wrapped in socks according to an agent's affidavit, which also states a man believed to be her husband and another person had started to paddle their own inflatable from the Canadian side of the lake toward the U.S. The affidavit also says Lake Wallace is a known spot for human and narcotic smuggling.
